New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s new contemporary romance novella is pure hard rock and scorching heat...

What happens when the Gentleman of Rock decides to play dirty?

A drummer for the hottest rock band on the planet, David has a single, powerful weakness: Thea, the band’s publicist and the woman who steals his breath away with her every move.

Only problem is, Thea doesn’t date clients—or musicians. Emotionally scarred by a cheating ex, she’s not about to risk her heart with a man who has groupies buzzing around him like flies. Even if his sexy smile ties her up in knots.

What she doesn’t know is that David is a one-woman man...and he’s madly in love with her. David’s determined to prove he’s worth the risk, and willing to court her, step by exquisite step. Thea’s about to discover just how long and hard this handsome drummer can play.

Thea and David were first introduced in Rock Addiction. We see a bit of their romance from the perspective of Molly, Thea’s sister.

Thea is the band’s publicist and David their drummer. She has a strict no-fraternization policy (self-imposed), so when he asks her out she says no, even though she really wants to say yes. For months she keeps things professional, until David decides to play dirty and sends her a memo. Then all bets are off.

Thea doesn’t trust easily. She was hurt by her ex-fiance and isn’t willing to risk her heart again. Especially on a rock star, even if he is called the “gentleman of rock”. I like that once her walls started to crumble, she didn’t hold back. She was strong and tough. She wasn’t just playing at being a shark, she really was one. Her concern David wouldn’t be able to handle that was something I thought Singh handled well.

David was really hurt by Thea’s rejection, but he isn’t ready to give up on getting her to see him as more than a client. I loved his persistence. David was such a sweet, romantic man I wasn’t expecting him to have a dirty, bad-boy side. He saw Thea for what she was and wanted every part of her. Plus, his relationship with his family was adorable.

Thea’s inability to trust and David’s hurt over her rejection came across as real emotional hurdles. My heart hurt for them both. Their memos were hilarious and sexy. I literally laughed out loud while reading the first one. There’s also quite a bit of emotion.

Their story grabbed me from page one. My only complaint is that it ended.

I haven’t read Rock Addiction, but I picked up Rock Courtship and loved it. Beta heroes chasing after reluctant heroines are total catnip for me.

  2. The only thing that bothered me about this story was that it overlapped Rock Addiction so much. I wish it would have been set a little later in the storyline. Other than that, I truly liked both characters and how their relationship developed.

    • It did overlap a lot, huh? I liked David and Thea too. I thought it was awesome that David did not care that Thea was taller than him.

    • That bothered me, as well, though more in Rock Addiction than this one. That their situation was alluded to but not explained in RA drove me bonkers.

      • Exactly–there was that careless, almost throwaway line, “Thea and David were dealing with…” and that’s it, no details. WHAT???? Don’t tease me, either tell me now or shut up!

        😉

Not that I felt strongly about any of this or anything.
