Monthly Reads: February 2019

Posted March 4, 2019 by Holly in Features, Giveaways | 7 Comments

February is the month of love and even though Holly isn’t a fan of Valentine’s Day in general, we got in on the love train this month. Here’s what each of us read last month, along with our favorites and least favorite reads of the month.

Casee: February was pretty good for me. About half my books were audiobooks. I honestly have no idea how I used to read 20+ books a month with two small children. It really baffles me. These are my reads for the month:

Rush by Maya Banks | 3.5 out of 5
Sweet Sinful Nights (audiobook) by Lauren Blakely | 3.75 out of 5
Fever by Maya Banks | 1 out of 5
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (audiobook) | 4.5 out of 5
Repeat by Kylie Scott (audiobook) | 4.5 out of 5
Burn by Maya Banks | 3.5 out of 5
Keep Me Safe by Maya Banks | 1 out of 5
Cake by J. Bengtsson (audiobook) | 3.75 out of 5
Still Not Over You by Nicole Snow | 2.5 out of 5
Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose (audiobook) | 4.5 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie and Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose. Those two just stuck with me. My very least favorite was Keep Me Safe by Maya Banks followed very closely by Fever by Maya Banks.

Holly: February was a bad reading month for me. I managed to read 15 books, but it felt like it took forever to finish them. Let’s hope March is better.

Dirty by Kylie Scott (audiobook) | 2 out of 5
Ariana by Dylan Ash | 3.25 out of 5
Repeat by Kylie Scott (audiobook) | 5 out of 5
Free by Kristen Ashley | 2 out of 5
Devil’s Daughter by Lisa Kleypas | 4.5 out of 5
Written in Red by Anne Bishop (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop (reread) (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Lake Silence by Anne Bishop (reread) (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Wild Country by Anne Bishop | 4 out of 5
Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Wild Irish Heart by Tricia O’Malley (audio) | DNF

My favorite read of the month was Repeat by Kylie Scott. That was such a fabulous audiobook. My least favorite read was Dirty by Kylie Scott. I didn’t understand the heroine or why either m/c did what they did.

Rowena: February was a short month and I went almost two weeks without reading anything so I’m not at all surprised that I only read 10 books this month. sigh I’m not freaking out about that or anything because according to Goodreads, I’m still on track to meeting my reading goals so that’s something.

The month started out with some fantastic reads, books that I was anxious to read and I was thrilled that they lived up to the hype that I gave them in my head. Too bad my month ended with some serious WTF did I just read books so that was a bit of a downer. I’ll go into that more below but here’s what I read last month.

Devil’s Daughter (The Ravenels #5) by Lisa Kleypas (eARC) | 4.75 out of 5
Risk, The (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy (eARC) | 4.5 out of 5
Assist, The (Smart Jocks #1) by Rebecca Jenshak (eBook) | 3 out of 5
Huge Deal (21 Wall Street #3) by Lauren Layne (eBook) | 5 out of 5
Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, The (Mckenzies & McBrides #1) by Jennifer Ashley (Audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
River Marked (Mercy Thompson #6) by Patricia Briggs (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry (eARC) | 4 out of 5
The Kiss Quotient (The Kiss Quotient #1) by Helen Hoang (Audiobook) | 5 out of 5
Bad Bachelor (Bad Bachelors #1) by Stefanie London (eBook) | 3 out of 5
Bad Reputation (Bad Bachelors #2) by Stefanie London (eBook) | 1 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month go to Huge Deal by Lauren Layne, Devil’s Daughter by Lisa Kleypas, and The Risk by Elle Kennedy. Kate and Kennedy were fabulous and I’m still not over Jealous Kennedy and the shouting match they got into at Kennedy’s parents anniversary dinner. Gah, that scene was just fantastic. I also completely loved West and Phoebe, seeing those two come together and seeing West with Phoebe’s kids??? Gah, so much goodness here. Brenna and Jake were just as awesome as I was hoping too so I was a happy camper to start the month off.

My least favorite read of the month goes to the last book that I read, Bad Reputation by Stefanie London. That book was a mess for me. The heroine was so extra in the beginning and all of the mystery surrounding why she was so extra about performing in the hero’s show fell flat for me and then the hero does the douchiest thing that pissed me off but none of that compares to how ragey I got over the whole Bad Bachelor app shit. Grrrr, I’m still pretty angry about that so I DNF’d the last book in the series because…I just can’t.

Monthly Reads: January 2019

Posted February 5, 2019 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 12 Comments

Casee: I started off the year strong, reading/listening to 11 books. That is so much better than a year ago when I only read two books.

Here are the books that I read in January:

Evidence of Desire by Lexi Blake | 4 out of 5
Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills (audiobook) | 3 out of 5
Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan | 4.5 out of 5
Filthy English by Ilsa Madden-Mills (audiobook) | 2 out of 5
Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely (audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Toxic Game by Christine Feehan | 3.75 out of 5
Mastered by Maya Banks | 3.75 out of 5
Part-Time Lover by Lauren Blakely (audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Dominated by Maya Banks | 3.5 out of 5
Fireworks by Sarina Bowen (audiobook) | 4.5 out of 5
Kept by Maya Banks | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite books of this month were Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan (a new-to-me author) and Fireworks by Sarina Bowen. I love listening to Sarina Bowen’s books on audio. The narrators are always stellar. I also listened to two Lauren Blakely books on audio, which are on the top of my list. My least favorite of the month was Filthy English by Ilsa Madden-Mills (another new-to-me author). I’m not sure if I’ll read anything by her again. She’s not for me.

Holly: I read/listened to 20 books in January. I feel like I’m reading a lot less than I am. Part of it is that I have very little reading time right now, so I’m reading books in stops and starts, instead of all in one sitting like I normally do. Let’s hope things are better in February.

Charming by Dannika Dark (audio) | 3.25 out of 5
Three Little Words by Jenny Holiday | 3.5 out of 5
Never Deal with Dragons (audio) | 3.0 out of 5
Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Rock Chick Reawakening (reread) (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Jace by Kenzie Cox (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Aiden by Kenzie Cox (audio) | 3.25 out of 5
Luc by Kenzie Cox (audio) | 3 out of 5
Honor’s Splendour by Julie Garwood (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
The Wedding by Julie Garwood (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Drawn Together by Lauren Dane (reread) (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner (audio) | 2.75 out of 5
The Good Ones by Jenn McFinlay | 3.5 out of 5
How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
From Scotland with Love by Kelli Ireland (audio) | DNF
Highland Guard by Hannah Howell (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Tikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder | 3.5 out of 5
Gimme Some Sugar by Molly Harper | 4 out of 5
Fierce Obsessions by Suzanne Wright | 3 out of 5
Ready to Were by Robyn Peterman (audio) | DNF

My favorite read of the month was How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper, with an honorable mention to Tikka Chance on Me. My least favorites were Ready to Were by Robyn Peterman and From Scotland with Love by Kelli Ireland. Both were over-the-top full of camp, and I had to DNF them.

Rowena: I’m shooting for 150 books read this year and in order to reach that lofty goal, I have to average about 13 books per month. In January, I read 14 books so…yeah, I’m off to a good start.

99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Holiday Hoops (Hoops #2.5) by Kennedy Ryan (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
Governess Gone Rogue (Dear Lady Truelove #3) by Laura Lee Guhrke (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Right Where I Want You by Jessica Hawkins (eBook) | 3.75 out of 5
The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner (eBook) | 2.5 out of 5
Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy #1) by J.R. Ward (eBook) | 4 out of 5
One and Only (Bridesmaids Behaving Badly #1) by Jenny Holiday (eBook) | 4.5 out of 5
It Takes Two (Bridesmaids Behaving Badly #2) by Jenny Holiday (eBook) | 4.75 out of 5
Merrily Ever After (Bridesmaids Behaving Badly #2.5) by Jenny Holiday (eBook) | 4.75 out of 5
Three Little Words (Bridesmaids Behaving Badly #3) by Jenny Holiday (eARC) | 4.5 out of 5
From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata (Audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Thirty Day Boyfriend by Whitney G. (Audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss by Kasie West (eARC) | 3.75 out of 5
The Scoundrel in Her Bed (Sins for All Season #3) by Lorraine Heath (eARC) | 5 out of 5

My favorite book of the month goes to The Scoundrel in Her Bed (Sins for All Season #3) by Lorraine Heath. Man, Lorraine Heath is really bringing her A-game with this series. Each book has been heartbreaking and beautiful and Finn’s book was no different. I absolutely adored it and cannot wait for Aiden’s book..and Beast and Fancy’s. I love how each book revolves around a main theme but are uniquely different. I just…gah. I loved it.

My least favorite read of the month goes to The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner. It wasn’t the read I was hoping it to be and though I’m not going to give up on the author, this book was a bit of a disappointment to me.

Monthly Reads: December 2018

Posted January 7, 2019 by Rowena in Features, Giveaways | 12 Comments

Casee: I’m actually pretty surprised that I read as many books as I did. I really expected to list four books at the most. I guess the holidays didn’t kick my butt as much as I thought.

Vengeance Road by Christine Feehan | 3.75 out 5
Hate Note by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland (audiobook) | DNF
My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren (audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Too Far Gone by Christy Reece | 3 out of 5
Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts | 2.5 out of 5
Demon’s Mercy by Rebecca Zanetti | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was definitely Demon’s Mercy by Rebecca Zanetti. I just adore the Dark Protectors series. My least favorite was Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland. I’m not really sure if it was because the audio was so horrific or because it was actually a bad story. I’ve thought about reading it, but I don’t really care that much about it.

Holly: December was a pretty busy month for me. I listened to a lot of audiobooks, but didn’t have a lot of time to read. I managed to finish 14 books. All but 4 were audiobooks.

Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Force of Tempation (audiobook | 4 out of 5
Lure of Oblivion (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Echoes of Fire by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Wicked Cravings by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) |
Carnal Secrets by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 2.75/3 out of 5
Wild Hunger by Suzanne Wright (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward (audiobook) | 2.5 out of 5
Inside Out by Lauren Dane (reread) (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Never Enough by Lauren Dane (reread) (audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley (reread) (eBook) | 3 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) (eBook) | 3.5 out of 5
My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren (eBook) | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were Echoes of Fire and Wild Hunger by Suzanne Wright. I really enjoyed both. My least favorite was Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good, either.

Rowena: December was a pretty shitty reading month for me. I just wasn’t in the mood to read anything because I was deep in a binge watch of Hart of Dixie and I spent my New Year’s watching Game of Thrones but it’s been a lot of fun catching up on these shows. I did manage to read about 6 books though. Here’s a list of what I read in the month of December.

Once and for All by Sarah Dessen (eBook) | 4 out of 5
Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) by Kristen Ashley (eBook) | 1 out of 5
The One You Fight For (The Ones that Got Away #3) by Roni Loren (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Illegally Yours (Laws of Attraction #2) by Kate Meader (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Playing for Keeps (Heartbreaker Bay #7) by Jill Shalvis (eARC) | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to The One You Fight For by Roni Loren. Taryn and Shaw’s romance was heartbreaking and emotional and just all around good. I adored both of them and loved reading their romantic journey.

My least favorite read of the month goes to Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley because I freaking hated that book. Hawk did nothing for me and Gwen was annoying so yeah, seriously, this book was just bad all over for me.

Monthly Reads: November 2018

Posted December 3, 2018 by Holly in Features, Giveaways | 7 Comments

MR-New

Casee: I didn’t read many books in November. I only read five (most of them audio) and one of those was a reread (on audio). I just wasn’t into it. Add in the holidays and that wasn’t a good recipe for reading. I’m hoping December will be a better month.

Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen (audiobook) | 2 out of 5
Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh (reread on audio) | 4.75 out of 5
Mornings on Main by Jodi Thomas | 2 out of 5
Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh (audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite book in November was Archangel’s Heart and I don’t even care that it was a reread. I adore that book. Love it. I would marry it if I could. My least favorite, hands down, was Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen. Holy hell, the heroine of that book was horrific. I loved the hero which honestly made the whole thing worse.

Holly: I managed to read 25 books in November, but that’s mostly thanks to audiobooks. The amount of reading time I had was limited, but thankfully I was able to listen to a lot of books.

One More Time by Laurelin Page (Audiobook) | 3.25 out of 5
Goddess with a Blade (audiobook) (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Royally Hung by Anne Marsh | DNF
Coming Undone by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger (Audiobook) | 1.5 out of 5
Sin and Chocolate by K.F. Breene (Audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Ain’t She a Peach by Molly Harper (Audiobook) | 3.75 out of 5
Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck by Molly Harper (Audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Sweet Tea and Sympathy by Molly Harper (Audiobook) | 3.75 out of 5
The Christmas Cottage by Samantha Chase (Audiobook) | 1 out of 5
Taking Chase by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
Making Chase by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (reread) | 3.5 out of 5
Chased by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 3.25 out of 5
The Restorer by Amanda Stevens (Audiobook) | DNF
Sleepover by Serena Bell | 3.5 out of 5
Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-Read) | 4.25 out of 5
Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
Night Broken by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 3.75 out of 5
Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 4 out of 5
Raven’s Shadow by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) | DNF
Mornings on Main by Jodi Thomas | 3 out of 5
A Little Night Magic by Lucy March (Audiobook) | DNF
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley (Reread) | 4 out of 5
The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.5 out of 5

My favorite new read of the month was probably Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck. I actually really enjoyed the entire Southern Eclectic series by Molly Harper, but that was my favorite of them. My least favorite read was Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger. I haven’t hated a heroine that much in..maybe ever. You know things are bad when the idea of her falling down the stairs and breaking all her bones makes you giddy inside.

Rowena: November was a busy month for me. We have hella birthdays in my family (mine included) so we’re always singing happy birthday and eating cake with everyone and their Mom at my house. Then there was the Thanksgiving madness and my niece leaving for her mission madness because whenever my family gets together to celebrate something, it’s always madness. I only managed to get 12 books read and some of them drove me right up the wall.

Here’s what I read last month.

Sleepover by Serena Bell (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Highlander Most Wanted (Montgomery’s & Armstrongs #2) by Maya Banks (Audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson #5) by Patricia Briggs (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
Wait for It by Mariana Zapata (eBook) | 4.5 out of 5
Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter #4) by Nalini Singh (Audiobook) | 3.25 out of 5
Mornings on Main by Jodi Thomas (eBook) | 3 out of 5
Fall (VIP #3) by Kristen Callihan (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
My Best Friend’s Ex (Beta Brothers #1) by Hazel Kelly (eBook) | 3.5 out of 5
Friends with Benefits (Beta Brothers #2) by Hazel Kelly (eBook) | 4 out of 5
Save the Date by Carrie Aarons (eBook) | 2 out of 5
My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Ache for You (Slow Burn #3) by J.T. Geissinger (Audiobook) | 1 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Wait for It by Mariana Zapata. I thought that book was well written and so much fun. I loved seeing Dallas fall in love with Diana and I adored Diana and her nephews. It was good to see all of the other characters from Zapata’s other books, especially Kulti. swoon

My least favorite read of the month goes to my last read, Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger. Holy cow, I wanted to throat punch the shit out of the heroine from beginning to end. She found every wrong conclusion to jump to and jumped. She jumped to so many conclusions that I was surprised she didn’t just jump right off a cliff. She completely ruined the book for me. I need a long break before I ever jump into another Geissinger book.

Monthly Reads: October 2018

Posted November 2, 2018 by Rowena in Features, Giveaways | 12 Comments

MR-New

Casee: October has been such a great month. The Dodgers lost the World Series in a pretty spectacular way. I really enjoyed giving Rowena hell about that. When it comes to sports, she’s surprisingly easy to rile. Then there was the fact that I read/listened to a lot of books. As of Friday, I was leading this pack. Then something happened. I’m not quite sure what, but everything started going downhill. Everything basically went to crap on Monday. I think it was karma for giving Rowena such a hard time. It was worth it, though. I read/listened to 14 (!!!) books this month.

Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter | 3.5 out of 5
Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh | 4.5 out of 5
Rock Hard by Nalini Singh | 3 out of 5
Rock Redemption by Nalini Singh | 4.25 out of 5
Rock Wedding by Nalini Singh | 3.5 out of 5
Steadfast by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Keepsake by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 4 out of 5
Scandal Never Sleeps by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 4.25 out of 5
Seduction in Session by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 4.5 out of 5
Bountiful by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Big Easy Temptation by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 4 out of 5
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (audio) | 4 out of 5
Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Smoke and Sin by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 3.5 out of 5

My very, very, very favorite book of the month was Seduction in Session by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. Wow. This writing team is dynamite. Surprisingly, one of my least favorite books was Bountiful by Sarina Bowen. I was really looking forward to reading Zara’s book, but it just didn’t do it for me. I was highly disappointed by Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter because I’ve come to expect only the very best from her.

Holly: I had a pretty slow reading month. I listened more than I read, and I didn’t have nearly the time to focus as I’d have liked. I listened to and/or read 18 books.

Fantastical by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3 out of 5
Broken Dove by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.25 out of 5
Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 2.75 out of 5
Soaring by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
How to Date Your Dragon by Molly Harper (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Love and Other Wild Things by Molly Harper (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
Lionheart by Thea Harrison | 4.25 out of 5
The Scribe by Elizabeth Hunter (audio) | 3 out of 5
The Singer by Elizabeth Hunter | DNF
Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh (reread/audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh | 4.5 out of 5
Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter | 3 out of 5
Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 3.25 out of 5
If He’s Daring by Hannah Howell (audio) | 3 out of 5
Steadfast by Sarina Bowen (reread/audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Once Upon a Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
On the Surface by Kate Willoughby (audio) | 3 out of 5
Red Wolf by Jennifer Ashley (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Natural Dual-Mage by K.F. Breene (audio) | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were Lionheart by Thea Harrison and Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh. I’m still not recovered from AP. I need the next book SO BAD! My least favorite reads were The Scribe and The Singer (which I DNF’d) by Elizabeth Hunter. The premise was really interesting, but I’m annoyed The Scribe ended in a cliffhanger and The Singer was basically just a recap of The Scribe for the 35% I read.

Rowena: My reading took a hit this month and I blamed all of my reading from September on that. I went through a couple of weeks of not being in the mood to read so I didn’t pick anything up. I also blame baseball. My team made it all the way to the World Series, played in the longest post-season baseball game in the entire history of the MLB, we won that game (it went 18 innings!) and then came back the next day and stunk it up. We lost the following two games at home and the Boston Red Sox won the World Series. Gah. Freaking Dodgers.

I did manage to read 10 books though and here’s a list of what I read:

Rebel Hard (Hard Play #2) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
Fight or Flight by Samantha Young | 4 out of 5
Archangel’s Consort (Guild Hunter #3) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
Shadow and Ice (Gods of War #1) by Gena Showalter | 2.5 out of 5
Phoenix Unbound (Fallen Empire #1) by Grace Draven | 4 out of 5
Fireworks (True North #6) by Sarina Bowen | 4.25 out of5
Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomery’s & Armstrongs #1) by Maya Banks | 4.75 out of 5
The Other Miss Bridgerton (Rokesbys #3) by Julia Quinn | 4.25 out of 5
Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson #3) by Patricia Briggs | 4.5 out of 5
Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks. I read this book for my book club and I ugly cried my way through it. The heroine turns out to be such a strong woman that I couldn’t help but root for throughout the entire book. She went through so much and when the hero comes along to become her champion, grows to love her more than he hates his enemies? Gah, it hit me all up in my feels and I just adored it to pieces. My book club and I enjoyed it so much that our book discussion book for next month, is the next book in the series. I can’t wait to jump back into that world.

My least favorite read of the month goes to Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter. I’ve never read anything by Showalter and I don’t think that this was the best book for me to begin my reading adventure through her books. I just wasn’t invested in what was going on and it took me a long time to connect with the hero because he was so cold and deadly and the heroine drove me batty with how crazy she was.
