Casee

I am really happy with my reading in January. I read/listened to a total of 11 books. That’s huge for me. I really hope my reading this year continues how it started. Fingers crossed.

Lucky Stars (Ghosts and Reincarnation #5) by Kristen Ashley | 4 out of 5
The Duke and I (Bridgertons #1) by Julia Quinn | 3.75 out of 5
Blood Heir (Aurelia Ryder #1) by Ilona Andrews | 4.25 out of 5
Wraith (Masters of Mayhem #1) by Renee Rocco | 4 out of 5
Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy #4) by Ilona Andrews (audio) | 4 out of 5
Roommate by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss #1) by Nalini Singh (reread) | 5 out of 5
The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn | 4.5 out of 5
Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter #4) by Nalini Singh (audio)(reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Monster (Savages #1) by Jessica Gadziala | 4 out of 5
Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott (audio) | 3.5 out of 5

My favorite book of the month was The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. I can’t believe it’s taken me all these years to read this series. My least favorite was Lick by Kylie Scott. I couldn’t stand the heroine although the hero was yummy.

Holly

January was an okay reading month for me. I wanted to read more, but things are crazy at work right now and I just didn’t have time. I finished 18 books and DNF’d 2.

Crown of Shadows (Court of Midnight and Deception #1) by K.M. Shea | 3.25 out of 5
Crown of Moonlight (Court of Midnight and Deception #2) by K.M. Shea | 4 out of 5
The Queen’s Crown (Court of Midnight and Deception #3) by K.M. Shea | 3.75 out of 5
The Prince and the Troll (Faraway #1) by Rainbow Rowell (audio) | 3 out of 5
Repeat by Kylie Scott (reread) | 5 out of 5
Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Murder of Crows (The Others #2) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Vision in Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Marked in Flesh (The Others #4) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Etched in Bone (The Others #5) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out o 5
Make Mine Magic by Shanna Swendson (audio) | 4 out of 5
One Fine Fae (Mystic Bayou #4.5) by Molly Harper (novella) (audio) | 4 out of 5
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia | 3.75 out of 5
The Wages of Sin (Sarah Gilchrist #1) by Kaite Welsh (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Ten Things I Hate About the Duke (Difficult Dukes #2) by Loretta Chase | 3.5 out of 5
The Gamble (Colorado Mountain #1) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2) by Kristen Ashley | 4.5 out of 5
Werewolf’s Mark by Darcia Cobbler | DNF
Kiss of Fire by Rebecca Ethington | DNF

My favorite new read this month was Crown of Moonlight by K.M. Shea. The series started off kind of slow, but I ended up really enjoying it, though book 2 was my favorite. My least favorite was The Prince and the Troll by Rainbow Rowell. The writing was stellar and I enjoyed the witty banter, but frankly there was no purpose to it and I felt like I wasted my time by listening to it.

January was a solid reading month for the reader that I am these days. I’m glad to not be pressuring myself to read more so that I can keep up with the book blog. I’m reading much more for pleasure and that’s reflected in the quality of the books that I’m reading. I should have been more picky about what I chose to read before now. So while I didn’t read a lot, here’s what I did read in the month of January.

The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen | 4.5 out of 5
The Traitor Queen by Danielle L. Jensen | 4.5 out of 5
Training Camp: Rain by Wesley King and Kobe Bryant | 4.25 out of 5
The Roommate by Rosie Danan | 4 out of 5
The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month are The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen and The Traitor Queen by Danielle L. Jensen. This series is super good so far and I’m really looking forward to seeing where Jensen takes the rest of the series. I’m curious about the sisters, the people, and seeing where Aren and Lara go from here.

I don’t really have a least favorite read of the month since I enjoyed all of the books that I read so I’m not going to choose one. 🙂

Casee

I only read three books in December. It’s pretty pathetic. I’m really hoping to read more in 2021.

Sommersgate House (Ghosts and Reincarnation #1) by Kristen Ashley | 4.5 out of 5
Lacybourne Manor (Ghosts and Reincarnation #2) by Kristen Ashley | 4.25 out of 5
Penmort Castle (Ghosts and Reincarnation #3) by Kristen Ashley | 3.5 out of 5

My favorite book of this series so far is Sommersgate House, though all the books in the series have been pretty good.

Holly

I had a fairly decent reading month. I managed to read 23 books, which is better than most other months in 2020.

Twisted Creek by Jodi Thomas (reread) | 3.25 out of 5
Wolves and Daggers (Steampunk Red Riding hood #1) by Melanie Karsak | DNF
Seduction on a Snowy Night by Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries and Mary Jo Putney (anthology) | 1.5 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss #1) by Nalini Singh (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Hauntings and Humbug: A Steampunk Christmas Carol by Melanie Karsak | 3.75 out of 5
Goblins and Snowflakes: (Steampunk Fairy Tales: The Elves and the Shoemaker #5) by Melanie Karsak | 4 out of 5
Repeat by Kylie Scott (reread) | 5 out of 5
Whiskey Holiday by Crystal Daniels | 1.5 out of 5
Magical Midlife Madness (Leveling Up #1) by K.F. Breene
Polar Opposites by Dani Wyatt | 1.5 out of 5
Scrooged by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward (anthology) | 3.75 out of 5
Shadow of a Doubt (The Potentate of Atlanta #1) by Hailey Edwards | 3.5 out of 5
Pack of Lies (The Potentate of Atlanta #2) by Hailey Edwards | 3.5 out of 5
One Fell Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles #3) by Ilona Andrews (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Sweep of the Blade (Innkeeper Chronicles #4) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
To Dream Again by Laura Lee Guhrke | 3.25 out of 5
Blood Heir (Aurelia Ryder #1) by Ilona Andrews | 4.5 out of 5
Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) by Ilona Andrews (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
The Scarletti Curse by Christine Feehan (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
The Mistletoe Bride by Anne Gracie | 3.5 out of 5
The Christmas Bride (Chance Sisters #4.5) by Anne Gracie | 3.75 out of 5
The Earl of Christmas Past (Goode Girls #1.5) by Kerrigan Byrne | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews. I’m so happy to be back in the Kate Daniels World. An honorable mention goes to Goblins and Snowflakes by Melanie Karsak. My least favorite was the Seduction on a Snowy Night anthology. I only read the first two stories, but neither was very good. I also thought Whiskey Holiday by Crystal Daniels was pretty bad.

Rowena

December was a pretty slow reading month for me but since that was the case for most of the year, I’m not too worried about it. 2021 is already looking up for me so I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to add some books to our monthly giveaway here on Book Binge.

Here’s what I read in December:

Blood Heir (Aurelia Ryder #1) by Ilona Andrews | 4.75 out of 5
To Dream Again by Laura Lee Guhrke | 3.75 out of 5
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren | 3.25 out of 5
Twisted Creek by Jodi Thomas | 3.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Blood Heir (Aurelia Ryder #1) by Ilona Andrews because it was just a fantastic read all around. Julie and Derek being front and center makes me so happy and the Andrews writing duo really did their thing with this one. I loved it. My least favorite read of the month goes to In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren, not because it was a bad book but I just enjoyed it the least of the books that I read.

Monthly Reads: November 2020

Posted December 4, 2020 by Holly in Features, Giveaways | 5 Comments

It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

Casee

I’m a little late with my list for November, but better late than never. I had a horrible reading month. I read three books (one was a DNF). All Kristen Ashley.

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3) by Kristen Ashley | 3.5 out of 5
Breath by Kristen Ashley (Colorado Mountain #4)| DNF
Fairytale Come Alive (Ghosts and Reincarnation #4) by Kristen Ashley | 4 out of 5

My favorite book of the month was Fairytale Come Alive. I was hesitant to read it at first because it’s not the first book in the series, but that wasn’t an issue here. My least favorite book was Breathe because the hero was a total ass. I wanted to junk punch him.

Holly

My reading was derailed by Kate Daniels this month. Once I started the series I had to finish it. Hopefully I’ll get more new-to-me book read in December.

Lord of Temptation (Lost Lords of Pembrook #2) by Lorraine Heath | 3.75 out of 5
Lord of Wicked Intentions (Lost Lords of Pembrook) by Lorraine Heath | 4 out of 5
Magic Burns (Kate Daniels #2) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels #3) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4 out of 5
Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels #4) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Magic Slays (Kate Daniels #5) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels #7) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.75 out of 5
Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels #8) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.75 out of 5
Magic Binds (Kate Daniels #9) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels #10) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5

My favorite new-to-me read of the month was Lord of Wicked Intentions by Lorraine Heath. It’s funny, because when I started the series the hero was my least favorite brother. But the story really worked for me. My least favorite read was Lord of Temptation, but that’s only by process of elimination, since I only read two new books. It was a good story, just not as good as the other one.

It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

Casee

October was an awful reading month for me. I just couldn’t get interested. It was very disappointing after I had read so much over the past couple of months. I’m nine books behind for my GR Challenge.

Real Good Man (Real Duet #1) by Meghan March | 4 out of 5
Rifts & Refrains (Hush Note #2) by Devney Perry | 4.25 out of 5
Reckless Road (Torpedo Ink #5) by Christine Feehan | 3 out of 5
Perversion (Perversion Trilogy #1) by T.M. Frazier | 3.5 out of 5
Possession (Perversion Trilogy #2) by T.M Frazier | 4 out of 5
Permission (Perversion Trilogy #3) by T.M. Frazier | 4 out of 5

My favorite read was Rifts & Refrains by Devney Perry. It is my first book from this author & I just loved it. I can’t wait to read more by her. My least favorite read was Reckless Road by Christine Feehan. I am so annoyed with myself because I can’t quit CF.

Holly

How is it that 2020 has been the longest year of the century, and yet it feels like it’s flying by? It makes no sense, yet here we are. Sadly, my reading was all over the place. I wanted to read, and managed to in spurts, but overall my headspace was elsewhere.

Polaris Rising (Consortium Rebellion #1) by Jessie Mihalik | 3.5 out of 5
Aurora Blazing (Consortium Rebellion #2) by Jessie Mihalik | 3.75 out of 5
She Tempts the Duke (The Lost Lords of Pembrook) by Lorraine Heath (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
The Earl Takes All (The Hellions of Havisham #2) by Lorraine Heath (Audio) | DNF
How the Scoundrel Seduces (The Dukes Men #2) by Sabrina Jeffries (audio) | DNF
The Burning Sky (The Elemental Trilogy #1) by Sherry Thomas (audio) | 3.5 out of 5

Coming Home (Fully Invested #1) by KB Alan | DNF
Repeat by Kylie Scott (reread) | 5 out of 5
Own the Wind (Chaos #1) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Ride Steady (Chaos #3) by Kristen Ashley (reread)| 4.25 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4.5 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Aurora Blazing by Jessie Mihalik. My least favorite was The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell by Stacy Reid. I didn’t necessarily dislike it, but it wasn’t keeping my attention.

After such a stellar August, I didn’t have high hopes for September. I ended up reading 11 books. Needless to say, I am jumping for joy.

Lawless (King #3) by T.M. Frazier | 3.5 out of 5
Soulless (King #4) by T.M. Frazier | 3.75 out of 5
All the Rage (King #4.5) by T.M. Frazier | 4 out of 5
Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part One (King #5) by T.M. Frazier | 4.25 out of 5
Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part Two (King #6) by T.M. Frazier | 4.5 out of 5

Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels #10) by Ilona Andrews | 5 out of 5
Dark Needs (King #0.5) by T.M. Frazier | 3 out of 5
Lies & Lullabies (Hush Note #1) by Sarina Bowen | 3 out of 5
Perfection by Kitty Thomas | 1 out of 5

My favorite books of the month are all of the King series by T.M. Frazier and Magic Triumphs by IA. My least favorite was Perfection by Kitty Thomas. That book was as about as far from perfect as you can get and still be readable.

Holly

I had a fairly good reading month. I didn’t read as much as I’d have liked, but I read more new-to-me books than not, so I’m calling it a win.

The Scoundrel in Her Bed (Sins for All Seasons #3) by Lorraine Heath (audio) | 4 out of 5
The Duchess in His Bed (Sins for All Seasons #4) by Lorraine Heath (audio) | 2.75/3 out of 5
The Earl Takes a Fancy (Sins for All Seasons #5) by Lorraine Heath (audio) | 4 out of 5
Beauty Tempts the Beat (Sins for All Seasons #6) by Lorraine Heath | 4.25 out of 5
Never Have I Ever (Always Satisfied #3) by Lauren Blakely (reread) | 4.25 out of 5

Enchanted (King Arthur and Her Knights #2) by K.M. Shea | 3 out of 5
Embittered (King Arthur and Her Knights #3) by K.M. Shea | 3 out of 5
Embark (King Arthur and Her Knights #4) by K.M. Shea | 3 out of 5
Enlighten (King Arthur and Her Knights #5) by K.M. Shea | 3 out of 5
Dragon Unleashed (Fallen Empire #2) by Grace Draven (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary | 4.5 out of 5
Water Bound (Sisters of the Heart #1) by Christine Feehan (reread) | 4 out of 5
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. It was just what I was in the mood for. Honorable mention goes to Beauty Tempts the Beast by Lorraine Heath. My least favorite read was The Duchess in His Bed by Lorraine Heath. Though I enjoyed the hero and his family, I couldn’t get over how selfish the heroine was.
