Monthly Reads: December 2018

Posted January 7, 2019 by Rowena in Features, Giveaways | 11 Comments

Casee: I’m actually pretty surprised that I read as many books as I did. I really expected to list four books at the most. I guess the holidays didn’t kick my butt as much as I thought.

Vengeance Road by Christine Feehan | 3.75 out 5
Hate Note by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland (audiobook) | DNF
My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren (audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Too Far Gone by Christy Reece | 3 out of 5
Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts | 2.5 out of 5
Demon’s Mercy by Rebecca Zanetti | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was definitely Demon’s Mercy by Rebecca Zanetti. I just adore the Dark Protectors series. My least favorite was Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland. I’m not really sure if it was because the audio was so horrific or because it was actually a bad story. I’ve thought about reading it, but I don’t really care that much about it.

Holly: December was a pretty busy month for me. I listened to a lot of audiobooks, but didn’t have a lot of time to read. I managed to finish 14 books. All but 4 were audiobooks.

Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Force of Tempation (audiobook | 4 out of 5
Lure of Oblivion (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Echoes of Fire by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Wicked Cravings by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) |
Carnal Secrets by Suzanne Wright (audiobook) | 2.75/3 out of 5
Wild Hunger by Suzanne Wright (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward (audiobook) | 2.5 out of 5
Inside Out by Lauren Dane (reread) (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Never Enough by Lauren Dane (reread) (audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley (reread) (eBook) | 3 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) (eBook) | 3.5 out of 5
My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren (eBook) | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were Echoes of Fire and Wild Hunger by Suzanne Wright. I really enjoyed both. My least favorite was Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good, either.

Rowena: December was a pretty shitty reading month for me. I just wasn’t in the mood to read anything because I was deep in a binge watch of Hart of Dixie and I spent my New Year’s watching Game of Thrones but it’s been a lot of fun catching up on these shows. I did manage to read about 6 books though. Here’s a list of what I read in the month of December.

Once and for All by Sarah Dessen (eBook) | 4 out of 5
Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) by Kristen Ashley (eBook) | 1 out of 5
The One You Fight For (The Ones that Got Away #3) by Roni Loren (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Illegally Yours (Laws of Attraction #2) by Kate Meader (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Playing for Keeps (Heartbreaker Bay #7) by Jill Shalvis (eARC) | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to The One You Fight For by Roni Loren. Taryn and Shaw’s romance was heartbreaking and emotional and just all around good. I adored both of them and loved reading their romantic journey.

My least favorite read of the month goes to Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley because I freaking hated that book. Hawk did nothing for me and Gwen was annoying so yeah, seriously, this book was just bad all over for me.

Monthly Reads: November 2018

Posted December 3, 2018 by Holly in Features, Giveaways | 7 Comments

MR-New

Casee: I didn’t read many books in November. I only read five (most of them audio) and one of those was a reread (on audio). I just wasn’t into it. Add in the holidays and that wasn’t a good recipe for reading. I’m hoping December will be a better month.

Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen (audiobook) | 2 out of 5
Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh (reread on audio) | 4.75 out of 5
Mornings on Main by Jodi Thomas | 2 out of 5
Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh (audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite book in November was Archangel’s Heart and I don’t even care that it was a reread. I adore that book. Love it. I would marry it if I could. My least favorite, hands down, was Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen. Holy hell, the heroine of that book was horrific. I loved the hero which honestly made the whole thing worse.

Holly: I managed to read 25 books in November, but that’s mostly thanks to audiobooks. The amount of reading time I had was limited, but thankfully I was able to listen to a lot of books.

One More Time by Laurelin Page (Audiobook) | 3.25 out of 5
Goddess with a Blade (audiobook) (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Royally Hung by Anne Marsh | DNF
Coming Undone by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger (Audiobook) | 1.5 out of 5
Sin and Chocolate by K.F. Breene (Audiobook) | 3.5 out of 5
Ain’t She a Peach by Molly Harper (Audiobook) | 3.75 out of 5
Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck by Molly Harper (Audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Sweet Tea and Sympathy by Molly Harper (Audiobook) | 3.75 out of 5
The Christmas Cottage by Samantha Chase (Audiobook) | 1 out of 5
Taking Chase by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
Making Chase by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (reread) | 3.5 out of 5
Chased by Lauren Dane (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 3.25 out of 5
The Restorer by Amanda Stevens (Audiobook) | DNF
Sleepover by Serena Bell | 3.5 out of 5
Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-Read) | 4.25 out of 5
Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
Night Broken by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 3.75 out of 5
Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) (Re-read) | 4 out of 5
Raven’s Shadow by Patricia Briggs (Audiobook) | DNF
Mornings on Main by Jodi Thomas | 3 out of 5
A Little Night Magic by Lucy March (Audiobook) | DNF
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley (Reread) | 4 out of 5
The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.5 out of 5

My favorite new read of the month was probably Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck. I actually really enjoyed the entire Southern Eclectic series by Molly Harper, but that was my favorite of them. My least favorite read was Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger. I haven’t hated a heroine that much in..maybe ever. You know things are bad when the idea of her falling down the stairs and breaking all her bones makes you giddy inside.

Rowena: November was a busy month for me. We have hella birthdays in my family (mine included) so we’re always singing happy birthday and eating cake with everyone and their Mom at my house. Then there was the Thanksgiving madness and my niece leaving for her mission madness because whenever my family gets together to celebrate something, it’s always madness. I only managed to get 12 books read and some of them drove me right up the wall.

Here’s what I read last month.

Sleepover by Serena Bell (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Highlander Most Wanted (Montgomery’s & Armstrongs #2) by Maya Banks (Audiobook) | 4.25 out of 5
Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson #5) by Patricia Briggs (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
Wait for It by Mariana Zapata (eBook) | 4.5 out of 5
Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter #4) by Nalini Singh (Audiobook) | 3.25 out of 5
Mornings on Main by Jodi Thomas (eBook) | 3 out of 5
Fall (VIP #3) by Kristen Callihan (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
My Best Friend’s Ex (Beta Brothers #1) by Hazel Kelly (eBook) | 3.5 out of 5
Friends with Benefits (Beta Brothers #2) by Hazel Kelly (eBook) | 4 out of 5
Save the Date by Carrie Aarons (eBook) | 2 out of 5
My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Ache for You (Slow Burn #3) by J.T. Geissinger (Audiobook) | 1 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Wait for It by Mariana Zapata. I thought that book was well written and so much fun. I loved seeing Dallas fall in love with Diana and I adored Diana and her nephews. It was good to see all of the other characters from Zapata’s other books, especially Kulti. swoon

My least favorite read of the month goes to my last read, Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger. Holy cow, I wanted to throat punch the shit out of the heroine from beginning to end. She found every wrong conclusion to jump to and jumped. She jumped to so many conclusions that I was surprised she didn’t just jump right off a cliff. She completely ruined the book for me. I need a long break before I ever jump into another Geissinger book.

Monthly Reads: October 2018

Posted November 2, 2018 by Rowena in Features, Giveaways | 12 Comments

MR-New

Casee: October has been such a great month. The Dodgers lost the World Series in a pretty spectacular way. I really enjoyed giving Rowena hell about that. When it comes to sports, she’s surprisingly easy to rile. Then there was the fact that I read/listened to a lot of books. As of Friday, I was leading this pack. Then something happened. I’m not quite sure what, but everything started going downhill. Everything basically went to crap on Monday. I think it was karma for giving Rowena such a hard time. It was worth it, though. I read/listened to 14 (!!!) books this month.

Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter | 3.5 out of 5
Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh | 4.5 out of 5
Rock Hard by Nalini Singh | 3 out of 5
Rock Redemption by Nalini Singh | 4.25 out of 5
Rock Wedding by Nalini Singh | 3.5 out of 5
Steadfast by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Keepsake by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 4 out of 5
Scandal Never Sleeps by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 4.25 out of 5
Seduction in Session by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 4.5 out of 5
Bountiful by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Big Easy Temptation by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 4 out of 5
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (audio) | 4 out of 5
Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Smoke and Sin by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake | 3.5 out of 5

My very, very, very favorite book of the month was Seduction in Session by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. Wow. This writing team is dynamite. Surprisingly, one of my least favorite books was Bountiful by Sarina Bowen. I was really looking forward to reading Zara’s book, but it just didn’t do it for me. I was highly disappointed by Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter because I’ve come to expect only the very best from her.

Holly: I had a pretty slow reading month. I listened more than I read, and I didn’t have nearly the time to focus as I’d have liked. I listened to and/or read 18 books.

Fantastical by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3 out of 5
Broken Dove by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.25 out of 5
Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 2.75 out of 5
Soaring by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
How to Date Your Dragon by Molly Harper (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Love and Other Wild Things by Molly Harper (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
Lionheart by Thea Harrison | 4.25 out of 5
The Scribe by Elizabeth Hunter (audio) | 3 out of 5
The Singer by Elizabeth Hunter | DNF
Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh (reread/audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh | 4.5 out of 5
Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter | 3 out of 5
Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 3.25 out of 5
If He’s Daring by Hannah Howell (audio) | 3 out of 5
Steadfast by Sarina Bowen (reread/audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Once Upon a Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
On the Surface by Kate Willoughby (audio) | 3 out of 5
Red Wolf by Jennifer Ashley (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Natural Dual-Mage by K.F. Breene (audio) | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were Lionheart by Thea Harrison and Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh. I’m still not recovered from AP. I need the next book SO BAD! My least favorite reads were The Scribe and The Singer (which I DNF’d) by Elizabeth Hunter. The premise was really interesting, but I’m annoyed The Scribe ended in a cliffhanger and The Singer was basically just a recap of The Scribe for the 35% I read.

Rowena: My reading took a hit this month and I blamed all of my reading from September on that. I went through a couple of weeks of not being in the mood to read so I didn’t pick anything up. I also blame baseball. My team made it all the way to the World Series, played in the longest post-season baseball game in the entire history of the MLB, we won that game (it went 18 innings!) and then came back the next day and stunk it up. We lost the following two games at home and the Boston Red Sox won the World Series. Gah. Freaking Dodgers.

I did manage to read 10 books though and here’s a list of what I read:

Rebel Hard (Hard Play #2) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
Fight or Flight by Samantha Young | 4 out of 5
Archangel’s Consort (Guild Hunter #3) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
Shadow and Ice (Gods of War #1) by Gena Showalter | 2.5 out of 5
Phoenix Unbound (Fallen Empire #1) by Grace Draven | 4 out of 5
Fireworks (True North #6) by Sarina Bowen | 4.25 out of5
Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomery’s & Armstrongs #1) by Maya Banks | 4.75 out of 5
The Other Miss Bridgerton (Rokesbys #3) by Julia Quinn | 4.25 out of 5
Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson #3) by Patricia Briggs | 4.5 out of 5
Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks. I read this book for my book club and I ugly cried my way through it. The heroine turns out to be such a strong woman that I couldn’t help but root for throughout the entire book. She went through so much and when the hero comes along to become her champion, grows to love her more than he hates his enemies? Gah, it hit me all up in my feels and I just adored it to pieces. My book club and I enjoyed it so much that our book discussion book for next month, is the next book in the series. I can’t wait to jump back into that world.

My least favorite read of the month goes to Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter. I’ve never read anything by Showalter and I don’t think that this was the best book for me to begin my reading adventure through her books. I just wasn’t invested in what was going on and it took me a long time to connect with the hero because he was so cold and deadly and the heroine drove me batty with how crazy she was.

Monthly Reads: September 2018

Posted October 4, 2018 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 8 Comments

MR-New

Casee: Okay, you guys. Prepare yourself for something that has not happened since the good old days. You know, the days where I couldn’t count the number of books I read that month on one hand? Yeah, those days. September was a splendipilous month for me. I read/listened to fifteen (15!) books. I discovered new authors (Ilona Andrews & Lauren Layne), I went back to old favorites (Karen Rose & Linda Howard). Overall I would have to say that I am extremely satisfied (giddy!) about my September reads. Without further ado, here are my reads for the month…

Order of Protection by Lexi Blake | 3 out of 5
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (audio) | 4 out of 5
Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews | 4.5 out of 5
The Woman Left Behind by Linda Howard (audio) | 3 out of 5
Monster in the Closet by Karen Rose (audio) | 4 out of 5
White Hot by Ilona Andrews | 5 out of 5
Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne (audio) | 4 out of 5
Wildfire by Ilona Andrews | 5 out of 5
I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Someone Like You by Lauren Layne | 4 out of 5
Consumed by J.R. Ward | 2.5 out of 5
Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy | 4 out of 5
Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen (audio) | 4 out of 5
Us by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy | 4.5 out of 5
Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh | 3 out of 5

I can easily say that my very least favorite read of the month was Consumed by J.R. Ward. I wish I didn’t care, but I wasted precious time reading that book. My favorite reads were definitely all the Ilona Andrews & the two Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy reads. Those two are an ace team. I heart them. Here’s to hoping that October is as good as September!

Holly: I had a pretty good reading month. I managed to finish 26 books. I had 3 others I wanted to read, but time got away from me.

Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven | 4.25 out of 5
Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Hot Dad by Whitley Cox | 1 out of 5
Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone | 4 out of 5
The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
The Only One by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 1.5 out of 5
Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
Light My Fire by Christie Ridgway | 3 out of 5
Feral Magic by Robin D. Owens (audio) | 3 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Touch the Sky by Kari Cole | 3.5 out of 5
The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
For the Love of English by A.M. Hargrove (audio) | 2.5 out of 5
Part-Time Lover by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
The Seduction of Elliot McBride by Jennifer Ashley (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
The Will by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
Lady Isabella’s Scandalous Lover by Jennifer Ashley (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Satisfaction by Lexi Blake | 1.5 out of 5
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Getting Schooled by Emma Chase (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
Wild Hunger by Chloe Neill | 2.75 out of 5
Nights with Him by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
The Hot One by Lauren Blakely (audio) | DNF

My favorite read of the month was Part-Time Lover by Lauren Blakely, with an honorable mention to Getting Schooled by Emma Chase. I also really liked Phoenix Unbound, but the beginning was a little slow. My least favorite read was Hot Dad by Whitley Cox. That book was a mess from start to finish.

Rowena: September was another strong reading month for me. I didn’t have too many things going on in my personal life and that led to more reading time. I also listened to a few audiobooks at work and that did wonders on making my work day go by so much faster than usual. I read 19 books and that’s normally unheard of for me but what can I say?? I’m happy with these results. I hope October is just as good to me as September was.

Here’s what I read last month:

For the Dukes Eyes Only (School for Dukes #2) by Lenora Bell | 4.25 out of 5
Untamed (MacKinnon’s Rangers #2) by Pamela Clare | 4 out of 5
Beyond the Night (The Heros of New Vegas #1) by Colleen Gleason | 4 out of 5
Say You’ll Stay by Corinne Michaels | 1 out of 5
The Lion’s Lady (Crown’s Spies #1) by Julie Garwood (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Guardian Angel (Crown’s SPies #2) by Julie Garwood (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan | 2.75 out of 5
Long Shot (Hoops #1) by Kennedy Ryan | 4.75 out of 5
Block Shot (Hoops #2) by Kennedy Ryan | 4 out of 5
Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy #2) by Maya Banks | 4.75 out of 5
The Duke Buys a Bride (The Rogue Files #3) by Sophie Jordan | 3 out of 5
The Gift (Crown’s Spies #4) by Julie Garwood (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Dead Heat (Alpha & Omega #4) by Patricia Briggs | 5 out of 5

America’s Sweetheart (Real Love #5) by Jessica Lemmon | 4 out of 5
Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy #3) by Maya Banks | 4.5 out of 5
Kissing Madeleine (Dearest #3) by Lex Martin | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month are Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan and Seduction of a Highland Lass by Maya Banks. Both books rocked my socks, made me cry buckets and I just enjoyed those books so much.

My least favorite reads of the month go to Say You’ll Stay by Corinne Michaels and Hot Dad by Whitley Cox. Both of those books were a mess and I didn’t enjoy them at all.

Monthly Reads: August 2018

Posted September 4, 2018 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 9 Comments

MR-New

Casee: August was a good month. Honestly, I thought July would be better because I was on vacation. Alas, vacation equaled no reading time for me. Though there wasn’t a lot of quantity for me in August, there was definite quality.

Dark Sentinel by Christine Feehan | 3 out of 5
Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs | 4.5 out of 5
Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs | 4 out of 5
Cross Breed by Lora Leigh | 4 out of 5
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti | 4 out of 5

I loved every book except for the Feehan. That one was just meh. I am also so happy that I finally “read” Harry Potter. The narrator was really good and the eight hours flew by while I was listening. My favorite book of the month is a cross between Cry Wolf and Cross Breed with Hidden coming in next.

Holly: I had an okay reading month. I finished 19 books. I had plans to read several more, but life got in the way.

Complicated by Kristen Ashley (audio) (reread) | 4 out of 5
The Secret (Highland Lairds #1) by Julie Garwood (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Saving Grace by Julie Garwood (reread) | 5/5
Ransom (Highland Lairds #2) by Julie Garwood (reread) | 4.25 and 2.5 out of 5
Herons Landing (Honeymoon Harbor #1) by JoAnn Ross | 3.75 out of 5
Snowfall on Lighthouse Lane (Honeymoon Harbor #2) by JoAnn Ross | 3.5 out of 5
When a Duke Loves a Woman (Sins for All Seasons #2) by Lorraine Heath (audio) | 4.25 out of 5
Lumberjack Werebear (Saw Bears #1) by T.S. Joyce | 3.5 out of 5
Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely (audio) | 4 out of 5
The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo (Victorian Rebels #6) by Kerrigan Byrne | 3 out of 5
The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings #1) by J.R. Ward | DNF
The Hookup (Game On #1) by Kristen Callihan (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
The Chase (Briar U #1) by Elle Kennedy | 3.25 out of 5
The Time in Between (Magdalene #3) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.25 out of 5
Play it Safe by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3 out of 5
Duke Most Wanted (Heiress Brides #3) by Celeste Bradley | 3.5 out of 5
Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels #10) by Ilona Andrews | 3.75 out of 5
Wild Like the Wind (Chaos #5) by Kristen Ashley | 3.5 out of 5
Getting Schooled (Getting Some #1) by Emma Chase (audio) | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was a tie between Getting Schooled by Emma Chase and When a Duke Loves a Woman by Lorraine Heath. Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely gets an honorable mention. I loved the story, but Richard Armitage as narrator really put it over the top. That might actually be my favorite. Or maybe just my favorite audiobook. My least favorite was The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward. I know I DNF’d it, but trust me, it was bad.

Rowena: You guys, I read 23 books in the month of August. That’s never happened to me so I’m over the moon at such a great reading accomplishment. I re-read some old favorites (and still loved the heck out of them) and I read some great review books and even listened to a bunch of audiobooks that I liked. It was a successful reading month all around for me.

Here’s what I read.

The Deal (Off Campus #1) by Elle Kennedy (re-read) | 5 out of 5
Dying to Please by Linda Howard (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Midnight Rainbow (Rescues #1) by Linda Howard | 4 out of 5
Forget You, Ethan by Whitney G | 3.75 out of 5
The Chase (Briar U #1) by Elle Kennedy | 4 out of 5
Grumpy Fake Boyfriend (Kwan Sisters #1) by Jackie Lau | DNF
The Other Side of Lost by Jessi Kirby | 4.25 out of 5
Down with Love (Laws of Attraction #1) by Kate Meader | 3.25 out of 5
Diamond Fire (Hidden Legacy #3.5) by Ilona Andrews | 4.25 out of 5
When a Duke Loves a Woman (Sins of All Season #2) by Lorraine Heath | 4.5 out of 5
Two Weeks Notice by Whitney G | 3.25 out of 5
All the Way (Romancing Manhattan #1) by Kristen Proby | 2.5 out of 5
Under Control (Boston Fire #5) by Shannon Stacey | 4 out of 5
Castles (Crown’s Spies #4) by Julie Garwood (re-read) | 4.75 out of 5
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon | 4 out of 5
The Governess Game (Girl Meets Duke #2) by Tessa Dare | 4.75 out of 5
Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely | 4.25 out of 5
The Breakup (Jordan Brothers #2) by Erin McCarthy | 3 out of 5
In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy #1) by Maya Banks | 4 out of 5
Kulti by Mariana Zapata | 4.25 out of 5
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren | 5 out of 5
Getting Schooled by Emma Chase | 4 out of 5
Hot Winter Nights (Heartbreaker Bay #6) by Jill Shalvis | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren. It was such a fun book and I loved both Josh and Hazel because they were a lot of fun. They didn’t make sense on their own but together, they were such a fun couple that I loved getting to know. I laughed a lot during the book and I can even see how Hazel would be too much for people (hell, even Hazel knew she was too much) but I loved that Josh loved Hazel just as she was and did’t want her to change or hide her personality from the public.

My least favorite read of the month goes to the lone book that I didn’t finish at all. It just wasn’t for me. I was bored and the hero was getting on my nerves and the writing style didn’t really engage me so I dumped it and moved on. That book was My Grumpy Fake Boyfriend by Jackie Lau.
