It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

Casee

I read four books in May, all by the same author.

Reign (The Henchmen MC #1) by Jessica Gadziala | 3 out of 5
Cash (The Henchmen MC #2) by Jessica Gadziala | 4.25 out of 5
Wolf (The Henchmen MC #3) by Jessica Gadziala | 4 out of 5
Shane (Mallick Brothers #1) by Jessica Gadziala | 4.25 out of 5

I didn’t have a favorite/least favorite this month because they were all really good books.

Holly

May was a sad reading month for me. It seemed to take me forever to finish a book. I also did a lot of re-reading.

Devil in Disguise (Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas | 4 out of 5
Devil in Winter (Wallflowers #3) by Lisa Kleypas (reread) | 5 out of 5
Worthy Any Price (Bow Street Runners #3) by Lisa Kleypas (reread) | 5 out of 5
Soaring (Magdalene #2) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive (Ghosts and Reincarnations #4) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss #1) by Nalini Singh (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Rock Courtship (Rock Kiss #1.5) by Nalini Singh (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Heart of Fire (Legends of the Storm #1) by Bec McMaster | 4 out of 5
Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountains #2) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Darkest Heart (Dominion #1) by Juliette Cross | 4 out of 5
Hardest Fall (Dominion #2) by Juliette Cross | 3.5 out of 5
Coldest Fire (Dominion #3) by Juliette Cross | 4.25 out of 5
Piece of Dragon (Haret Chronicles: Qilin #1) by Laurel Chase | DNF
Forbidden (Old West #1) by Beverly Jenkins | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite book of the month was Coldest Fire by Juliette Cross, with an honorable mention to Darkest Heart. My least favorite was Hardest Fall by Juliette Cross. I didn’t dislike it, but it wasn’t the story I was hoping for.

May was the month that I discovered mangas with my best friend. We’re really into them and are even branching out to discover webtoons to enjoy together as well but for May, it was all about Demon Slayer. I read a huge chunk of them and really enjoyed seeing the Demon Slayer gang after the movie that released back in April.

Here’s what I read last month:

Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Volume One | 4.25 out of 5
Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Volume Seven | 4 out of 5
Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Volume Eight | 5 out of 5
Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Volume Nine | 4.25 out of 5
Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Volume Ten | 4.25 out of 5
Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Volume Eleven | 4.5 out of 5
The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Volume 8 of the Demon Slayer series. That book covers the meat of the storyline from the movie and I cried all over again while reading it. My least favorite book goes to The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He. It took me a long time to read this book. The first half of the book was confusing and super slow. Once you hit about the halfway mark, things pick up and I ended up liking everything.

Posted May 4, 2021 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 6 Comments

It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

Casee

Spring has sprung, but my reading hasn’t. I read four books in April. I think I was just too busy to sit down and read.

Atone (The Disciples #2) by Cassandra Robbins | 3 out of 5
Repent (The Disciples #3) by Cassandra Robbins | 3.5 out of 5
Ignite (The Disciples #4) by Cassandra Robbins | 4 out of 5
Rebel’s Karma by Rebecca Zanetti | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite book of the month was Rebel’s Karma by Rebecca Zanetti. I really enjoyed Benny & Karma.

Holly

April was a fairly good reading month for me. I discovered some new authors and new series. I managed to finish 19 books.

Honor’s Splendour by Julie Garwood (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
The Bride (Lairds’ Fiancees) by Julie Garwood (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
The Wedding (Lairds’ Fiancees) by Julie Garwood (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf #1) by Molly Harper (audio) (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
The Princess and the Pea (Timeless Fairy Tales #0.5) by K.M. Shea | 3.5 out of 5
Beauty and the Beast (Timeless Fairy Tales #1) by K.M. Shea | 3.75 out of 5
Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) by Ilona Andrews (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Not Quite a Husband (The Marsdens #2) by Sherry Thomas | 3.5 out of 5
Apprentice of Magic (The Fairy Tale Enchantress) by K.M. Shea | DNF
Repeat by Kylie Scott (reread) | 5 out of 5
Pause by Kylie Scott (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Reign of Dragons (Dragon Dojo Brotherhood #1) by Olivia Ash (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
Fate of Dragons (Dragon Dojo Brotherhood #2) by Olivia Ash | 3 out of 5
Shield-Maiden: Under the Howling Moon (The Road to Valhalla #1) by Melanie Karsak (audio) | 4 out of 5
Shield-Maiden: Under the Hunter’s Moon (The Road to Valhalla #2) by Melanie Karsak | 3.5 out of 5
Shield-Maiden: Under the Thunder Moon (The Road to Valhalla #3) by Melanie Karsak (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
Snow Day by Julie Lipson (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Wicked Wish (Dragon’s Gift: The Storm #1) by Veronica Douglas and Lindsey Hall | 3.75 out of 5
The Half-Life of Marie Curie by Lauren Gunderson (audio) | 5 out of 5
Hot as Hades by Alisha Rai | 4.5 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Hot as Hades by Alisha Rai. It was just the story I was looking for at the time. My favorite listen was The Half-Life of Marie Curie by Lauren Gunderson. Though short, it really packed a punch. My least favorite was Apprentice of Magic by K.M. Shea. It was boring and irritating at the same time. The whole first half was just the heroine pretending to be super nice (while inwardly being snarky) and hating herself and her magic. I ended up DNF’ing it because it was so bad.

Rowena

April was a pretty busy month for me personally so though I didn’t read a lot, I did read 3 books and I enjoyed all of the books so I’m counting that as a win. Here’s what I read last month.

Wild Sign (Alpha & Omega #7) by Patricia Briggs | 4.25 out of 5
Not Quite a Husband (Marsden #2) by Sherry Thomas | 3.75 out of 5
Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Wild Sign by Patricia Briggs. It’s another book that opens up a lot of different directions for the series to go in and I’m super excited to see where Briggs takes us after that ending. There were some issues that I had with Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas but I did enjoy the story overall but because of that, it’s probably my least favorite read of the month.

Monthly Reads: March 2021

Posted April 6, 2021 by Holly in Features, Giveaways | 6 Comments

It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

Casee

I didn’t finish a single book until March 18th. I ended up reading eight books. I sure surprised myself.

Come to Me Quietly by A.L. Jackson | 4.25 out of 5
Shadow Storm by Christine Feehan | 4.25 out of 5
Knight by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Come to Me Softly by A.L. Jackson | 4 out of 5
Come to Me Recklessly by A.L. Jackson | 4.5 out of 5
Tattered by Devney Perry | 3.75 out of 5
Wild Fire by Kristen Ashley (audiobook) | 4 out of 5
Lethal by Cassandra Robbins | 3.5 out of 5

My absolute favorite of the month was Come to Me Recklessly by A.L. Jackson. My heart could barely hold all my feels for this book. I was actually surprised because I didn’t really care for the hero in the first two books of the series. I should never have doubted A.L. Jackson. I didn’t read a bad book in March, but there were a few that I liked less than others.

Holly

March was a better reading month for me, partly because I listened to some old favorites during my commute. I finished 20 books.

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountains #2) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
The Last Warrior (Shifters Unbound #13) by Jennifer Ashley | 3.75 out of 5
Shield-Maiden: Under the Howling Moon (The Road to Valhalla #1) by Melanie Karsak | 4 out of 5
One Fell Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles #3) by Ilona Andrews (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Sweep of the Blade (Innkeeper Chronicles #4) by Ilona Andrews (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Tiger Magic (Shifters Unbound #5) by Jennifer Ashley (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Tiger Striped (Shifters Unbound #11.5) by Jennifer Ashley (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
When He’s an Alpha (The Olympus Pride #2) by Suzanne Wright | 3.25 out of 5
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
The Wedding (Lairds’ Fiancées} by Julie Garwood (audio) (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Saving Grace by Julie Garwood (audio) (reread) | 5 out of 5
The Secret (Highlands’ Lairds #1) by Julie Garwood (audio) (reread) | 5 out of 5
Stone-Cold Fox (Mai Hayashi #1) by Hailey Edwards | 3.75 out of 5
The Switch by Beth O’Leary | 3.5 out of 5
The Hook Up (Game On #1) by Kristen Callihan (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Night of the Living Deed (A Haunted Guesthouse Mystery #1) by E.J. Cooperman (audio) | 3.25 out of 5
Dragons Don’t Eat Meat (Valkyrie Bestiary #1) by Kim McDougall | 4 out of 5
Dervishes Don’t Dance (Valkyrie Bestiary #2) by Kim McDougall | 3.25 out of 5
Murder on Cold Street (Lady Sherlock #5) by Sherry Thomas (audio) | 4.5 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Murder on Cold Street by Sherry Thomas, with an honorable mention to Dragons Don’t Eat Meat by Kim McDougall. My least favorite was Dervishes Don’t Dance by Kim McDougall. I didn’t dislike it, necessarily, but it didn’t compare to the first book in the series, which was a major disappointment.

Monthly Reads: February 2021

Posted March 2, 2021 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 10 Comments

It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

Casee

February was an embarrassing month for me. I read four books. To make it even more pathetic one was a DNF & one was a reread.

Motorcycle Man (Dream Man #4) (reread) by Kristen Ashley | 4.75 out of 5
Rock Chick Renegade (Rock Chick #4) by Kristen Ashley | 4.5 out of 5
Lightning Game (GhostWalkers #17) by Christine Feehan | DNF
Still Standing (Wild West MC #1) by Kristen Ashley | 2.5 out of 5

Once again, I’ve read more Kristen Ashley books than anything else. I love Motorcycle Man, so that was a fun reread. Still Standing was interesting to say the least. My favorite book in February was Rock Chick Renegade. I just loved Jules and Vance.

Holly

I felt like I read a lot in February, but I only finish 16 books. 16 is a perfectly respectable number, but I swear it felt like I read at least 20. So weird.

The House on the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune | 4 out of 5
Dead in the Water (Gemini #1) by Hailey Edwards (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Head Above Water (Gemini #2) by Hailey Edwards (audio) | 4 out of 5
Hell or High Water (Gemini #3) by Hailey Edwards (audio) | 3.75 out of 5
Fish out of Water (Gemini #4) by Hailey Edwards (audio) | 4 out of 5
The Return of Eden McCall by Judith Duncan (reread) | 4 out of 5
Chaos Reigning (Consortium Rebellion #3) by Jessie Mihalik | 4 out of 5
The Beast of Beswick (Everleigh Sisters #1) by Amalie Howard | 3.75 out of 5
A Study in Scarlet Women (Lady Sherlock #1) by Sherry Thomas | 4 out of 5
A Conspiracy in Belgravia (Lady Sherlock #2) by Sherry Thomas | 4.25 out of 5
The Hollow of Fear (Lady Sherlock #3) by Sherry Thomas | 4 out of 5
The Art of Theft (Lady Sherlock #4) by Sherry Thomas | 4 out of 5
Heart on a Leash (Hearts of Alaska #1) by Alanna Martin | 3.25 out of 5
Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) by Ilona Andrews (reread) (audio) | 4.5 out of 5
Emerald Blaze (Hidden Legacy #5) by Ilona Andrews | 3.75 out of 5
Wild Sign (Alpha and Omega #6) by Patricia Briggs | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were the Lady Sherlock series by Sherry Thomas. I believe book two was my favorite, but I enjoyed them all. My least favorite read was Heart on a Leash by Alanna Martin. I liked the romance, but the family feud in the book was really over-the-top.

Rowena

As far as my Goodreads Challenge is concerned, I’m on track to meet my reading goals for this year so I’m going to have to be okay with that. It was a busy month for me at work but also with my family so I’m surprised that I’m still on track to meet my goals. I’ll take it.

Here’s what I read this past month:

Wicked Fox (Gumiho #1) by Kat Cho | 4 out of 5
The Beast of Beswick (Everleigh Sisters #1) by Amalie Howard | 4 out of 5

I liked both books that I read this month but I think I liked Wicked Fox just a smidge more. I’m really interested in the Gumiho story so I really liked that one. I’m very interested in continuing that series whereas I have no interest in reading the next book in the Everleigh series by Amalie Howard.

Casee

I am really happy with my reading in January. I read/listened to a total of 11 books. That’s huge for me. I really hope my reading this year continues how it started. Fingers crossed.

Lucky Stars (Ghosts and Reincarnation #5) by Kristen Ashley | 4 out of 5
The Duke and I (Bridgertons #1) by Julia Quinn | 3.75 out of 5
Blood Heir (Aurelia Ryder #1) by Ilona Andrews | 4.25 out of 5

Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy #4) by Ilona Andrews (audio) | 4 out of 5
Roommate by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss #1) by Nalini Singh (reread) | 5 out of 5
The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn | 4.5 out of 5
Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter #4) by Nalini Singh (audio)(reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Monster (Savages #1) by Jessica Gadziala | 4 out of 5
Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott (audio) | 3.5 out of 5

My favorite book of the month was The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. I can’t believe it’s taken me all these years to read this series. My least favorite was Lick by Kylie Scott. I couldn’t stand the heroine although the hero was yummy.

Holly

January was an okay reading month for me. I wanted to read more, but things are crazy at work right now and I just didn’t have time. I finished 18 books and DNF’d 2.

Crown of Shadows (Court of Midnight and Deception #1) by K.M. Shea | 3.25 out of 5
Crown of Moonlight (Court of Midnight and Deception #2) by K.M. Shea | 4 out of 5
The Queen’s Crown (Court of Midnight and Deception #3) by K.M. Shea | 3.75 out of 5
The Prince and the Troll (Faraway #1) by Rainbow Rowell (audio) | 3 out of 5
Repeat by Kylie Scott (reread) | 5 out of 5
Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Murder of Crows (The Others #2) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Vision in Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5

Etched in Bone (The Others #5) by Anne Bishop (audio) (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Complicated by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out o 5
Make Mine Magic by Shanna Swendson (audio) | 4 out of 5
One Fine Fae (Mystic Bayou #4.5) by Molly Harper (novella) (audio) | 4 out of 5
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia | 3.75 out of 5
The Wages of Sin (Sarah Gilchrist #1) by Kaite Welsh (audio) | 3.5 out of 5
Ten Things I Hate About the Duke (Difficult Dukes #2) by Loretta Chase | 3.5 out of 5
The Gamble (Colorado Mountain #1) by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5
Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2) by Kristen Ashley | 4.5 out of 5
Werewolf’s Mark by Darcia Cobbler | DNF
Kiss of Fire by Rebecca Ethington | DNF

My favorite new read this month was Crown of Moonlight by K.M. Shea. The series started off kind of slow, but I ended up really enjoying it, though book 2 was my favorite. My least favorite was The Prince and the Troll by Rainbow Rowell. The writing was stellar and I enjoyed the witty banter, but frankly there was no purpose to it and I felt like I wasted my time by listening to it.

Rowena

January was a solid reading month for the reader that I am these days. I’m glad to not be pressuring myself to read more so that I can keep up with the book blog. I’m reading much more for pleasure and that’s reflected in the quality of the books that I’m reading. I should have been more picky about what I chose to read before now. So while I didn’t read a lot, here’s what I did read in the month of January.

The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen | 4.5 out of 5
The Traitor Queen by Danielle L. Jensen | 4.5 out of 5
Training Camp: Rain by Wesley King and Kobe Bryant | 4.25 out of 5
The Roommate by Rosie Danan | 4 out of 5
The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan | 4 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month are The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen and The Traitor Queen by Danielle L. Jensen. This series is super good so far and I’m really looking forward to seeing where Jensen takes the rest of the series. I’m curious about the sisters, the people, and seeing where Aren and Lara go from here.

I don’t really have a least favorite read of the month since I enjoyed all of the books that I read so I’m not going to choose one. 🙂
