What Are You Reading? (+ Alisha Rai Giveaway)

WAYR-New

Casee: I’m just finishing up Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs. I didn’t have a lot of time to read last week because I was getting my son ready to move to college. I think I literally have two pages left. I’m going to read Cross Breed by Lora Leigh next. I’m really curious how Cassie’s story turns out.

I’m also waiting on the first Harry Potter book in audio from my library. I never got into the craze as everyone else did and I’m super curious about the books.

Holly: I haven’t had a lot of dedicated reading time this week. I want to read, and in fact I’m in the middle of four books, but I just haven’t had time. It’s depressing.

I’m currently reading The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo by Kerrigan Byrne, When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare and Herons Landing by JoAnn Ross. I’m also listening to Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely. I DNF’d The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward. I managed to slog through 30+ chapters. If I were close to the end I’d probably finish it, because I want to know if my thoughts about where the plot is heading are right, but there’s still 20 chapters to go. I just can’t.

I did manage to read Diamond Fire by Ilona Andrews, though. It was so good. I can’t wait for the next book (fall 2019!).

Rowena: I got some good reading in this week so I’m one happy camper. I finished up Down with Love by Kate Meader and while I enjoyed it, there were some things that annoyed me about both the hero and the heroine but I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Yay for Lucas! After that, I started listening to When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon at work. It’s a good way to get some reading in while I’m at the office but it also takes forever. I’m enjoying what I’m reading so far even though Dimple is aggressive as hell. I do adore Rishi though. I also read Diamond Fire by Ilona Andrews already because, I couldn’t help myself. I adored that and am so looking forward to more Catalina and Leo and Arabella and just seeing them grow into their powers. Woot!

Right now, I’m reading When a Duke Loves a Woman by Lorraine Heath and I’m loving it. I love Thorne and I adore Gillie so I’m going to finish this one up pretty quickly then I’ll be moving on to Two Weeks Notice by Whitney G.

Happy reading, everyone!

One night. No one will know.

That was the deal. Every year, Livvy Kane and Nicholas Chandler would share one perfect night of illicit pleasure. The forbidden hours let them forget the tragedy that haunted their pasts—and the last names that made them enemies.

Until the night she didn’t show up.

Now Nicholas has an empire to run. He doesn’t have time for distractions and Livvy’s sudden reappearance in town is a major distraction. She’s the one woman he shouldn’t want . . . so why can’t he forget how right she feels in his bed?

Livvy didn’t come home for Nicholas, but fate seems determined to remind her of his presence—and their past. Although the passion between them might have once run hot and deep, not even love can overcome the scandal that divided their families.

What Are You Reading? (+ Christine Warren Giveaway)

WAYR-New

Casee: I just finished Alpha and Omega, which is the prequel to Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs. I started Cry Wolf last night and am really enjoying it so far. These are two of the books Holly picked for me in the Summer Reading Challenge. I’ve been really lucky with most of the books Holly and Rowena picked for me so I almost feel bad that Holly hated disliked Raphael by D.B. Reynolds. (H: You should feel bad for the JRW book. Shudder)

Holly: I did a lot of re-reading this week. I didn’t have a lot of dedicated reading time and I prefer re-reads when I know I own’t be able to focus. I re-read Play it Safe, Complicated, The Time in Between and Wild Man by Kristen Ashley and The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan. The only new-to-me book I read this week was The Chase by Elle Kennedy. I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would, but it was really good to get back to Briar U.

I’m currently listening to When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare. I fell behind in my Tessa Dare reading during my historical hiatus. I’m excited I have so many of her books to look forward to.

Rowena: This week, I finished up Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard and really enjoyed that one even though it’s hella dated and then I read The Other Side of Lost by Jessi Kirby and enjoyed that one too. The Other Side of Lost made me cry but boy did it also make me take stock of my life and how I’m living. It was a great coming of age novel by Jessi Kirby and I’m super glad that I read it.

Now, I’m reading Down with Love by Kate Meader and I’m not far into it but I’m looking forward to getting it read so that I can keep chugging along on my review pile. I’m so behind and I’m scrambling to keep up. Wish me luck!

What Are You Reading? (+ Lynsay Sands Giveaway)

WAYR-New

Casee: I am currently reading Dark Sentinel by Christine Feehan. This book is different from the others in this series in good ways and not-so-good ways. I always wonder if it’s just going to be the same old thing since this is something like the 147th book in this series, but I’m usually surprised. I have some really good books waiting in the wings. I hope to finish Dark Sentinel tonight so I can move on.

Holly: I finished my reread of the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews with White Hot and Wildfire. I finally got to read The Kiss Quotient, which was wonderful. Rowena was right. That book was so freaking good. Then I read Wild Like the Wind by Kristen Ashley. I enjoyed the romance, but the rest of the story was meh. I’m pretty much over the overreaching story arc from the last 5 books. I listened to Duke Most Wanted by Celeste Bradley. I really liked it. There was a plot twist at the end I did not see coming. For those of you who know me, that’s a huge thing. I always figure it out.

I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I’ll be honest, I’m putting off reading the next two books in the Summer Reading Challenge. I might suck it up and try one, but neither sounds very good to me. Sigh.

Rowena: I finally finished A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole and it was such an enjoyable romance that I am pretty anxious for the next book in the series, Johan’s book. I also want to go back and read Ledi & Thabiso’s book because they were adorable in this one. Portia and Tav were the bomb! After I finished that book, I started my second Summer Reading Challenge book, Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard. I’m still reading that (so far, so good) but I plan to finish that today so I’ll be jumping into The Other Side of Lost by Jessi Kirby next.

Casee: Aloha from the beautiful island of Kauai, where I’ve been reading…almost nothing. I’ve been here for seven days and today is the first day that I’ve really sat at the beach and read. The book I’m reading is The Deal by Elle Kennedy and I’m really enjoying it. It was one of Rowena’s picks for me in our Summer Reading Challenge and I have to admit that she really nailed this one.

Holly: I spent the last two weeks on vacation. I had a great time in Alaska, but I didn’t have a lot of reading time. I reread Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews and Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh, but that’s it. I hope to finish my Summer Reading Challenge books before the month ends, though. Wish me luck.

Rowena: It’s been a busy week for me so I haven’t read anything or finished anything. I’m hoping that picks up over the weekend though. Pray for me.

Rowena: Everyone on the blog is on vacation this week so you guys are stuck with me. I’m the lone wolf and I’m only a little bit salty about that. Everyone is off having fun and I’m at…work. 🙁 Haha, I already took my vacation though so I’ll survive.

My reading picked up this week and it’s all Jenny Han’s fault. I started To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before for a buddy review with Ames and then I just kept right on reading the other books in the series. I couldn’t stop. I had to know what else happens to Lara Jean and Peter, now that I’m completely done with the series, I’m not ready to move on yet so I haven’t. I plan on starting A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole today. I’ve been saying that for the last two days but I haven’t picked it up yet. Wish me luck.
