Since last time, I finished The Devil in Him (Devil’s Cradle #3) by Suzanne Wright and The House Witch 3 (The House Witch #3) by Delemhach. I read the Deals with Demons series by Stacia Stark: Speak of the Demon, Dance with the Demon, Inner Demons, Luck of the Demon, and Demon’s Advocate. I really liked the series and I was sorry to see the end of that particular story-arc.
I read Mother Faker (Mom Coms #1) by Brittanee Nicole. I thought it was a cute little RomCom, if a little over the top at times. Each book in the series is written by a different author and none of the other characters spoke to me enough for me to want to continue. I also read Forsaken Mate (Shifted Fates #1) by Vasilia Drake, a Hades/Persephone retelling. I enjoyed it as a whole, but I did feel like parts of it were very slow. I re-read several books, but those were all my new reads.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

    Over the past week ~

    — read Bride by Ali Hazelwood. The author has previously published contemporary romances and this is her first paranormal romance; I enjoyed it. The story features a female Vampyre who marries a Were (her people’s long time enemy) to forge an alliance. She also has an ulterior motive as she is trying to find her human friend who has disappeared.
    — read Rise by Keira Andrews which was a pleasant gay fairytale retelling of Jack and the beanstalk.
    — reread The Protector and Mismatched both by Cooper West; these are paranormal m/m romances.
    — reread (and then reread again) the contemporary romance, Lucky by Gigi DeGraham. It featured three teens in their last year of high school who have a polyamorous romance. This was a favorite find last year.
    — enjoyed a couple of male/male romance stories — Out in the Cold by Kiki Clark and Catching Starlight by Lisa Henry.

I just finished Nicky James’s PROMISES OF FOREVER, a dual timeline m/m romance about two men who reconnect 30 years after they first met at summer camp. It was a beautifully written story, angsty and melancholy. As soon as I finished it, I put it right on my Favorite Reads of 2024 list!
