I’ve been reading by butt off lately. I’m reading Monster by Jessica Gadziala. This is a new-to-me author that I’m enjoying thus far. I’ve read that she’s very Kristen Ashley-esque & I have to agree.

I’m listening to Lick by Kylie Scott which I am liking a lot. I was hoping to finish it by today but haven’t had time to listen to it. I also listened to Archangel’s Blade by Nalini Singh which was amazing.

Holly

I’m re-reading The Others series by Anne Bishop this week. I started listening to them on audio and have been switching back and forth between reading. I finished Written in Red, Murder of Crows, Vision in Silver and Marked in Flesh. I’m about halfway through Etched in Bone. I didn’t intend to read the whole series, but it’s hard to stop after the first one. I haven’t decided if I’ll read the next two books (which are set in the same world but about different places) or not. I guess I’ll see how I feel when I finish this book.

Rowena

Happy Friday! I’ve been so busy with a lot of things going on at work so my reading hasn’t been too hot. I did finish reading the first short story in Training Camp by Wesley King and it was a pretty solid beginning to the entire story. I’ll be making slow progress through this book and will read the next story next month since I’m reading that with my friends. I also started The Roommate by Rosie Danan and so far, I’m really enjoying it. I’m hoping to get that one finished up over the weekend. After that, I’ll be jumping into The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan.

I’ve been slaying it with the reading this year so far. I’m currently reading The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. Yes, I’m officially a Bridgerton fan. I’m also rereading Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh. I always forget how much I love Fox and Molly.

I’ve been listening to Archangel’s Blade by Nalini Singh on audio. Holy crap is the narrator amazing. I feel like she has Dmitri spot on.

Holly

I finished The Wages of Sin by Kaite Welsh and Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I didn’t love either of them, but I enjoyed aspects of both. The Welsh was a very somber, bleak tale, however. I’m not sure I’ll continue on with the series. I listened to One Fine Fae by Molly Harper, a Mystic Bayou novella available on audio only. I really enjoyed the story. I love that series.

I’m currently listening to Make Mine Magic by Shanna Swendson and reading Her Wicked Marquess by Stacy Reid. I should be finished with both by tomorrow. I’m not sure what I’m going to start next.

Rowena

This week was a really slow reading week for me. I started Training Camp by Wesley King and Kobe Bryant but I’m still reading it right now. It’s not a bad book by any stretch but I’m just distracted with other things right now. The state of our country, some family stuff, and TBH, TikTok. LOL. I blame TikTok. When in doubt, blame TikTok. I’m hoping to finish Training Camp over the weekend so that I can jump into some other books that I’ve been itching to read. The Rosie Danan books to be exact. Wish me luck!

What Are You Reading? (551)

Casee: I’ve been burning through book like nobody’s business this week. I started watched Bridgertons, stopped, and started The Duke & I. I’ve finished Kristen Ashley’s Ghost and Reincarnation series, which I loved. I also have a book called Wraith by Renee Rocco that I hope to finish this weekend. I’m also going to start The Viscount Who Loved Me. I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m listening to Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews. It’s the first audiobook that I’ve listened to in several months. I love the narrator but I keep getting this series and the Kate Daniels series mixed up.

Holly: It’s been a pretty slow reading week for me. I’m listening to two audiobooks and it feels like they’re taking forever. I’m listening to The Wages of Sin by Kaite Welsh, the first book in the Sarah Gilchrist series. It’s a gothic murder mystery type story, which I generally enjoy. Sadly, I’m struggling to continue since the main character is kind of acting like an idiot. I actually set it aside because I received a skip-the-line copy of Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia that’s only available for 7 days from the library. Though I’m enjoying the creepy atmosphere of the novel, the slow-burn pacing is working against it. I may have to switch to reading.

I read Ten Things I Hate About the Duke by Lorretta Chase. I haven’t read the first book in the series, but I enjoyed this one, so I plan to remedy that soon. I re-read Sweet Dreams and The Gamble by Kristen Ashley, and Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews so I can review it with Casee and Rowena. Hopefully, this week will be better.

Rowena: This week was for The Bridge Kingdom series by Danielle L. Jensen. I read both the first and second books in that series and really enjoyed both books. I’m mighty curious about where the series is going from here but I’m hooked so I’ll be continuing this series for sure. I’m going to start Training Camp by Wesley King and Kobe Bryant today because I’m reading that with my friends. These community reads are really helping me with my reading count. Yay for friends that help me reach my goals.

What Are You Reading? (550)

Happy New Year from our Book Binge family to yours!

Casee: My reading continues to decline. I’m still Lucky Stars by Kristen Ashley. It is the fifth and apparently final book of the Ghost and Reincarnation series.

I still haven’t been listening to audiobooks either. Here’s to a hopeful 2021.

Holly: I continued reading holiday novellas the week of Christmas. I read The Christmas Bride by Anne Gracie, which was cute. I also read The Mistletoe Bride by Anne Gracie, which I enjoyed. The Earl of Christmas Past by Kerrigan Byrne was a fun read. I read two steampunk novellas by Melanie Karsak, Hauntings and Humbug and Goblins and Snowflakes. Both are classic retellings I really enjoyed. I tried reading Wolves and Daggers, the first book in the Red Riding Hood series by the same author, but I couldn’t get into it. I DNF’d it about halfway through. I read the first two stories in the Seduction on a Snowy Night anthology, featuring Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries and Mary Jo Putney. Both were pretty terrible.

I reread Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh, Repeat by Kylie Scott, Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley and Twisted Creek by Jodi Thomas.

Rowena: Happy New Year, everyone! I hope that everyone celebrated the start of a new year safely and that 2021 brings about everything we hoped 2020 would have.

I have decided that for 2021, I’m going to read at whatever pace that I read at. I’m not going to force myself to read things, just so that I’m reading something. I have reading goals and I want to meet them but I don’t want to kill myself to read stuff or stress myself out with ridiculous reading goals. I say all of this because my reading is super slow though I am reading. I read In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren last week and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t LOVE it. There were some pacing issues for me and the hero lowkey got on my nerves from time to time but overall, I liked it. I’m finishing up a re-read of Twisted Creek by Jodi Thomas. I read this a while ago and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t LOVE it like Holly and some other book friends did. That seems to still be the case for me now. I thought that I would like it more this time around but…nope. It’s still just okay.

I plan to start reading Training Camp by Wes King and Kobe Bryant next. It’s going to be my first read of the new year and I’m reading it with my friends so I’m looking forward to diving in.

What Are You Reading? (549)

Casee: I am reading the Ghosts and Reincarnation series by Kristen Ashley. I’m currently reading Penmort Castle, which is the third book in the series. I am highly enjoying this series. I loved the first and second books in the series and so far I’m loving the third.

I purchased Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews. I haven’t started it yet but I really need to.

Holly: I finished Pack of Lies by Hailey Edwards. It was pretty good. I downloaded the next book in the series, but I’m not sure if I’ll start it right away. I read Magical Midlife Madness by K.F. Breene, which was a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to the next book.

I thought I’d get in the holiday spirit by reading some Christmas stories I found on Kindle Unlimited. I read Scrooged by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. It was cute. I had some minor issues with all three stories, but overall they were great. Polar Opposites by Dani Wyatt has a premise I love – opposites attract – but at about the 80% mark the male MC turned into a giant aggressive douche and killed the story for me. Last night I read Whiskey Holiday by Crystal Daniels. Isn’t that title awesome? Sadly it turned out to be the only good part of the story. The hero sees the heroine across the bar, decides she belongs to him and within 12.5 seconds has her going home with him. The next day he shows up at her house and moves in while she’s at work. That didn’t scream “sexy” to me, so much as “WHOA THERE CREEPY STALKER”. Clearly I am not the target audience for this story.

Now I am reading The Mistletoe Kisser by Lucy Score. I’m not very far into it but so far it seems pretty good.

Rowena: My reading mojo has returned but it’s slow going. I did finish my e-ARC Heart and Seoul by Jen Frederick and enjoyed it though it’s not my favorite book by Frederick. Now, I’m reading In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren, trying to get into the Christmas spirit. So far, it’s just as funny as I thought it would be. I should be finished with this one before the day is up and then I’m going to really read The Roommate by Rosie Danan.
