I’ve had a bunch of time to read lately what with vacation & my husband being out of town. I was on a paranormal kick for awhile there. I read a lot of Katie Reus. Like a lot. I read Ancient Sentinel (Ancients Rising #7), Alpha Instinct (Moon Shifter #1) & Primal Possession (Moon Shifter #2). I was pretty disappointed with Ancient Sentinel because it was so short. I really didn’t feel like it packed as much of an emotional punch as the other books in the series. After I finished those three, I decided to go back to contemporaries. Last night I finished Pretend You’re Mine (Benevolence #1) by Lucy Score. You guys, I loved this book. Like loved it, loved it. I just adored Harper & Luke was so tortured that it made for an almost-perfect read. Next up is Finally Mine (Benevolence #2).

I haven’t had very much time to listen to audiobooks right now, but I still have Things We Hide From the Light (Knockemout #2) that I’m trying to listen to. I just love Lucy Score.

It’s been a crazy month at work and I haven’t had a lot of time to read. Let’s hope April is better. Since last time I re-read Castle Hill and Down London Road by Samantha Young, as well as The Wedding by Julie Garwood. Re-reads are always easier for me when I don’t have a lot of reading time.

For new reads, I read A Dead and Stormy Night by Steffanie Holmes, the first book in the Nevermore Bookshop Mystery series. I really enjoyed the writing and the story. I’m looking forward to the next book. I read the final book in the Gate of Myth and Powers trilogy, The King’s Queen by K.M. Shea. Honestly, I was a little disappointed. Shea has a habit of saving all the action until the last 1/4 of the book, which made for a rather dry reading experience. I still enjoyed the overall story, but I wish it had moved a little faster.

I’m currently reading Guardian of Chaos by Michelle Manus, book 1 of the Nyx Fortuna series. So far I’m enjoying it, but I’m still pretty early into it.

I’ve been reading a lot of Sherilee Gray. She reminds me of Dianne Duvall. Her books are easy, fast, and entertaining. I also read Storm Warrior (Grim #1) by Dani Harper. I wasn’t crazy about it. The heroine drove me batshit crazy. She was supremely annoying. I almost DNFed the book at 89%, that’s how frustrated I was. I’m currently reading Taming the Alpha (Crescent Moon #1) by Katie Reus & Alpha Instinct (Moon Shifter #1) by Katie Reus. I’m looking for a good contemporary if anyone has any suggestions.

I have Things We Hide From the Light (Knockemout #2) by Lucy Score to listen to. Hopefully I’ll start it today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I read Spring Breeze by Lily Alexander, a new-to-me author, featuring a grumpy boss and a woman who was left at the alter. I really liked parts of the story, most especially the MCs journey to rebuild her life, but it was kind of slow in parts. I’ll probably try another book from the author in the future. I read Power Play by Maria Luis, which I didn’t love. It was a quick read and engaging, but the short page count meant the romance happened a little too fast to be believable. One Last Shot by Julia Connors was a Kindle recommendation because I read Power Play. I enjoyed it. It could have been a little shorter and the third act breakup wasn’t my favorite, but I liked it overall. I also read One Little Favor, a novella set in the same series featuring a grumpy/sunshine workplace romance. It was a cute read. I read By a Thread by Lucy Score, which is another grumpy/sunshine workplace romance. I really enjoyed it. It could have been a little shorter, but the banter was great and I really liked the premise.

I listened to Dog with the Bone by Hailey Edwards. I thought I had already read this series, but I didn’t have it marked. Some details were familiar, while others were brand new to me. It was a quick read and I enjoyed the narrator, but I’m not sure I’m in the mood to continue the series. I read The Dark Elf’s Secret Baby by Celeste King. I didn’t love the heroine (in fact she drove me crazy), but I liked the hero and the writing enough to pick up the second book, The Dark Elf’s Surprise Baby. I have so much regret. Between the “hero” physically assaulting the heroine and the poor choices they both made, I still can’t believe I read through to the end. I will not be seeking out any additional books from the author.

I started Heir of the Dog by Hailey Edwards and Sure Shot by Sarina Bowen, but set both aside after just a few pages, as I wasn’t in the mood for either. I’m still not sure what I’m going to read next.

I read Queen of Snow by Laura Burton, which I really enjoyed until the end. I was left frustrated and annoyed at the twist it took and I’m hesitant to continue with the series now. I reread Good Boy and Stay by Sarina Bowen, two of my favorites. I discovered a new-to-me author, Maria Luis, and read Body Check, the 4th book in the Blades Hockey series. I really liked the writing and the re-united lovers story. I tried to read Kiss Me Tonight by the same author, but I didn’t enjoy the enemies to lovers trope and ended up DNFing it. I plan to try another book by the author, however, since I liked her writing quite a bit.

I’m reading A Trial by Blood (The Thornheart Trials #3) by Sherilee Gray. I love this series & can’t wait until the next book comes out.

I’m leaving on vacation tomorrow & I have Things We Hide From the Light (Knockemout #2) by Lucy Score on audio for the flight. I just hope it’s as good as Things We Never Got Over.

I read Say Yes and Body Check by Elle Kennedy. Body Check was just okay for me, but I really enjoyed Say Yes, even though it was short. I also read Moonlighter and Loverboy by Sarina Bowen. I liked Moonlighter, but Loverboy did not work for me at all. I didn’t like the premise or the romance and the mystery plot was awful. I don’t know if she plans to continue the series, but I won’t be reading any future releases in this series. Things We Hide from the Light by Lucy Score was just okay. I found myself frustrated by Nash for the majority of the book. I’m not sure if it just my reading mood or the book, so take that with a grain of salt.
