I’ve been sick for the last two weeks and haven’t had the energy to read. I’m currently trying to get through Legacy of Temptation (Demonica Birthright #1) by Larissa Ione. I think I’ve been reading it for a week and I’m only halfway through. I’m also listening to Silver Silence (Psy-Changeling Trinity #1) by Nalini Singh.

Nothing has appealed to me lately. I’m a mood reader who doesn’t know what mood she’s in. It’s frustrating.

I read Forgotten Queen (Forsaken Mate #2) by Vasilia Drake, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first book in the series. I ended up DNFing the third book, Fatal Goddess, because the characters were immature and annoying (you’d think they’d have gotten better over the course of the series, but the opposite was true). I read A Court This Cruel & Lovely (Kingdom of Lies, #1) by Stacia Stark, which was intriguing, but then I wasn’t in the mood for the second book, so I set it aside in favor of re-reading Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs so I could refresh my memory before I read the ARC I received of Winter Lost. But then I wasn’t in the mood for it after I finished. I read and enjoyed When He Dares (Olympus Pride #6) by Suzanne Wright, though it isn’t my favorite of the series. I ended up re-reading some of the other Olympus Pride books, then The Dark In You series.

I read Green Gryphon (Mackenzie Green, #1) by J.S. Kennedy, which I enjoyed, but I wasn’t in the mood for the second book, Green Mage, so I set it aside. I’ve started a number of book since then, but nothing has held my interest. I have no idea what to try next.

Since last time, I finished The Devil in Him (Devil’s Cradle #3) by Suzanne Wright and The House Witch 3 (The House Witch #3) by Delemhach. I read the Deals with Demons series by Stacia Stark: Speak of the Demon, Dance with the Demon, Inner Demons, Luck of the Demon, and Demon’s Advocate. I really liked the series and I was sorry to see the end of that particular story-arc.
I read Mother Faker (Mom Coms #1) by Brittanee Nicole. I thought it was a cute little RomCom, if a little over the top at times. Each book in the series is written by a different author and none of the other characters spoke to me enough for me to want to continue. I also read Forsaken Mate (Shifted Fates #1) by Vasilia Drake, a Hades/Persephone retelling. I enjoyed it as a whole, but I did feel like parts of it were very slow. I re-read several books, but those were all my new reads.

I’ve tried to read a few books this week, but nothing has really held my attention. I started A Promise of Ashes (The Thornheart Trials #5) by Sherilee Gray, but it didn’t really hold my attention. I started The Wicked in Me (Devil’s Cradle #1) by Suzanne Wright. It is really interesting so I think I’m going to stick with it.

I’m still reread the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. I’m currently listening to Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling #10). I love Hawke and Sienna.

I reread Good Boy and Stay by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, then started listening to The Princess Bride by S. Morgenstern/William Goldman, one of my forever favorites.

I started The Devil in Him (Devil’s Cradle #3) by Suzanne Wright and I plan to listen to The House Witch 3 next.

I’ve not really been into reading lately. I’ve been listening to audiobooks mostly. It’s sad. I’m currently reading Chosen Destiny (Twisted Fate Trilogy #3) by Jen L. Grey. It’s an okay read, but nothing spectacular. They are a somewhat entertaining and easy read. I was hoping for more, though. I was looking forward to glomming her backlist, which isn’t going to happen. See? Sad.

I decided to listen to the entire Psy-Changeling series on audio. I’m currently listening to Blaze of Memory (Psy-Changeling #7) by Nalini Singh. I don’t remember loving this one the first time around, but this time it’s pretty good.

December was kind of a crazy month for me, and January is shaping up to be more of the same. Casee and I both took on new roles in our professional lives that has left even less time for reading than before (which in my case wasn’t a lot to begin with). I’m still reading (thank you, audiobooks!), but not nearly as much as I would like to be.

I’m currently reading the Stariel series by A.J. Lancaster, a new to me author. I got the ebook and purchased the audio add-on so I could switch between reading and listening. I’m really loving the narrator. I finished The Lord of Stariel, The Prince of Secrets, and The Court of Mortals. I’m almost finished with the fourth book, The King of Faerie. I’ve really fallen into the series and I’m anxious to see where things go next.

Other books I’ve read recently include The Last Sky by Jess Anastasi (just okay), The Graham Effect by Elle Kennedy (loved) and The Legacy by Elle Kennedy (an interesting collection of “where are they now” novellas).

The last week of November really kicked my butt. Between work and family obligations, I had very little time to read. I finished listening to Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score. I really liked it and it promoted me to go back and reread the first book in the series, Things We Never Got Over. After that I was in the mood for more contemporary romance, so I read Gull Harbor by Kathryn Knight, a new-to-me author. The story was just okay. There wasn’t a lot of depth or emotion, which made for a quick – if not very engaging – read. I listened to Not My Kind of Hero by Pippa Grant, which was enjoyable and engaging, though I could have done without some of the added drama. Then I read Hidden Miles by Claire Kingsley, which is the 6th book in the series but the only one I’ve read. I liked it, but again there was a lot of added drama that seemed to carry over from previous books that I wasn’t super interested in.

I DNF’d It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey and Witches Get Stuff Done by Molly Harper on audio. I might go back to them at a later date or try to read them instead, but I wasn’t into either one at the moment.

Other than that, I re-read a few books and read through a lot of samples. I haven’t decided what I’m going to read next.
