He's a Wyr warrior, a god of storms. She's the heir to the Dark Fae throne. But desire will bring both to their knees in this all-new Novel of the Elder Races.

During the rule of her murderous Dark Fae uncle, Thistle "Tricks" Periwinkle found sanctuary among the Wyr in New York. Her ethereal beauty and sparkling personality won the hearts of the public, but after her uncle's death, there are those who don't want to see her ascend to the throne.

Able to wield thunder and lightning, Wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the Wyr's best weapons. And he's sent to protect Tricks when she's almost assassinated in Chicago.

Soon, both Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them—a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.

Tiago, though he doesn’t know Tricks (whose real name is Niniane) all that well, immediately steps up to try and find her when she goes missing in Chicago. He’s one of the best trackers and soon finds her in an obscure motel eating Cheetos and drunk off her ass. Tiago helps keep her in hiding through yet another assassination attempt but Niniane is determined to do what must be done and take her rightful place as the Queen of the Dark Fae.

Niniane doesn’t really know what she’s doing when it comes to being a queen and she certainly doesn’t know who she can trust in the Dark Fae delegation – but she knows that can trust Tiago. The Wyr had taken her in when she was just 17 and she had lived with and among them for 200 years. Tiago is a forbidding creature and a bit monstrous at times but she knows he only has her best interests at heart.

Having to depend on Tiago for just about everything Niniane finds herself getting quite emotional about Tiago and falling in love with him and he with her.

This is yet another wonderful installment in the Elder Races series. Harrison really has a way of bringing us a great story, fitting all the pieces together in the end and making the characters come alive on the page.

I love Harrison’s characters for so many reasons. I love that both Tiago and Niniane are willing to laugh at themselves – but also could be very vulnerable in their own way. Neither is afraid to laugh at others as well and frankly I loved it. Not that I think anyone, in real life or in fiction, should point and laugh at people, but if there’s a funny incident of something happens – it’s ok to laugh. They do say that laughter is the best medicine, after all. I also adore the fact that Harrison has no qualms about letting her characters yell at each other if they are truly mad or upset with each other which makes the stories that much more realistic

While it was a bit surprising that Tiago fell so quickly for Niniane – it worked for me. Because Tiago spent most of his time in South America the couple hadn’t ever spent a significant amount of time together and when they did Tiago realized that Niniane was his mate. Maybe I’m just a sucker for a good shifter/mate story, IDK. Whatever the reason, it worked for me.

If you want a very good paranormal romance with lots of fun, laughter, and a bit of intrigue then this would be a great book for you.
