From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Thea Harrison comes the final novella featuring Pia and Dragos…

Pia’s latest pregnancy has become a daily challenge, her relationship with Dragos strained with argument. That hasn’t stopped them from achieving a compromise and traveling to Las Vegas to celebrate their friend Rune’s wedding to his mate Carling.

From the moment they arrive, the trip goes awry. Death walks in Vegas, and Pia is kidnapped as an ancient enemy makes a move to destroy the Great Beast once and for all.

But the Great Beast has other plans.

On Planet Dragos everything goes the way he arranges it—unless someone decides to cross him, and God help them then, because he doesn’t know how to back down, and he doesn’t ever, ever let up….

I love Dragos and Pia. The Elder Races series is wonderful all around, but every time we return to Pia and Dragos I cheer a little on the inside.

These slice-of-life novellas are lovely. It’s great seeing where the Lord of the Wyr is, and how things are going with his family. In the previous book, Moonshadow, we met a new character who reappears here. I’m curious about him and hope we see more.

Aside from that, I loved seeing Pia and Dragos come to another turning point in their lives together. I was surprised at the choice they made at first, but it makes so much sense now that I think about it. I can’t wait for the next installment. I won’t lie, I’m anxious to see what happens with Liam.

I’ve now read the book. I was a tad disappointed; perhaps my expectations were too high. Oh, well.

    • What was it that disappointed you? I admit upon reflection I preferred Dragos Takes a Holiday (or Goes on Holiday…I can’t recall the exact title).

It’s hard to verbalize my feelings about the novella (which is why you’re the one, Holly, writing the reviews!); however, I just felt disconnected from the characters. It’s not the fact that Pia and Dragos spent much of the book apart since that happened in one of the full length novels. I just felt somewhat disconnected from them. I’ll re-read it at some point when I do a Pia/Dragos re-read; it will be interesting to see if I feel the same way then.
