The gripping conclusion of the bestselling Fire and Ice Trilogy!

I'd thought the threat from Seattle was finished. That we showed up in time and took care of business.

I hate being wrong. It really ruins my day.

When Roger, the alpha of the North American pack, shows up at my door with the news that a demon has made it to the Underworld with knowledge of me, some hard decisions have to be made.

Do I stay above ground, with all my magical friends, and wait for the battle to come to me? Or do I seek the demon out, and pluck the threat out by the root?

I don’t want my friends to die on my behalf. I could never life with myself. But if I venture into the Underworld, it’ll be the most perilous journey of my life.

This time, it isn’t just my life hanging in the balance, it is my eternity.

Fused in Fire picks up right where book two, Raised in Fire, leaves off. I would definitely recommend reading the trilogy in order.

Reagan has defeated the mages who were stirring up trouble and killed the demon who knew about her and her history. Or so she thought. Unfortunately, people have been talking and another demon has surfaced, with the intention of finding Reagan and delivering her to her father himself. Since she has no desire to be trapped in the underworld, she has to hunt down this new demon and deal with him. He’s a lot stronger than any demon she’s dealt with before, and she’s forced to go into the underworld to dispatch him and the faction he has working with him.

The action and the romance both pick up in this book. I really like Reagan with Darius. They are still mismatched, but they grew on me as a couple. She’s so immature sometimes (especially compared to a thousands-year-old vampires), I wonder how he can stand to be around her. Still, I like how they work together, how patient he is with her and how committed he is. The action is pretty good.  Unlike the previous two books, this one moved pretty quickly. I didn’t feel like it was slogged down with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. Reagan drives me crazy half the time. but I can’t deny I was sucked into the story.

I’m sorry the trilogy has ended. A note from the author suggests the series will continue to follow other characters and I can’t wait.

It is a common truth in my life that when it rains, it pours.

The killings that once plagued New Orleans are cropping up again in Seattle. The local office is stumped. I’m called out to lend a fresh set of eyes, and my unique magical touch.

It’s only when I get there that I realize the Seattle office isn’t stumped at all.

They’re being silenced by the Mages’ Guild, a corrupt magical institution that doesn't want word to get out of what is plaguing the city. Worse, news of my magic might’ve slipped down to the underworld, hitting the ears of some extremely powerful demons.

What I thought was a routine murder investigation turns into a fight for my life. With the help of Darius, my stalker elder vampire, and my dual-mage side kicks, I somehow have to dodge the Guild in order to stop one of the most powerful demons I’ve ever encountered. If I don’t? It’ll escape back down below with proof of what I really am.

My life hangs in the balance, and this time, I can't see a way out.

Raised in Fire picks up pretty much right where book one, Born in Fire, leaves off. The trilogy should be read in order.

Reagan’s job with the Magical Law Enforcement (MLE) has fizzled out (mostly due to her terrible temper and refusal to play by the rules). So when the Seattle MLE asks for help dealing with a new case, she’s eager to take it. Thanks to her big payday after wrapping up a case for the Vampires she doesn’t need the money, but she’s been spinning her wheels for months and needs to burn some energy. Not to mention she needs to get away from Darius, her vampire Stalker. Only things aren’t what they seem. It turns out a demon has heard about Reagan and wants to present her to her father. Reagan can’t let that happen. Oh, and her vampire Stalker? Turns out he isn’t sitting this one out. Which might end up being a good thing if this demon is half as powerful and she thinks.

We find out more of Reagan’s backstory here, plus see some progress in her relationship with Darius. I liked the growth she showed in opening up to her mother’s friends and Darius. But she still seems pretty immature and silly in a lot of ways. I’m hoping for more growth in the next book.

This was kind of slow reading. I felt like a lot of it could have been cut. I did a lot of skimming. Still, all in all it was a solid read. I mostly read it in a single sitting.

Heart pounding and laugh out loud funny, USA Today Bestselling author K.F. Breene will take you on a magical joy ride you won't soon forget.

Supernatural Bounty Hunter isn't the sort of thing you see on LinkedIn. But with a rare type of magic like mine, I don't have many options.

So dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old as sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day.

Knowing I'm poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I'll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case.

Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire. But without any other jobs coming up, I'm stuck. As I uncover a web of lies and treachery, revealing an enemy I didn't know existed, the truth of my identity is threatened. I might make it out alive, only to end up in a gilded cage.

Born in Fire is the first book in K.F. Breene’s Fire and Ice Trilogy, which follows supernatural bounty hunter Raegan Somserset. It’s currently $2.99 for Kindle (or free for KU), which is where I picked it up after seeing it recommended at the back of one of Ilona Andrews’ books (I don’t recall which one).

Raegan hunts down those with magical abilities, though the majority of the human population doesn’t realize they exist. Despite being great at her job, she doesn’t make a lot because her lineage makes it impossible for her to acquire legal papers to work. So when her latest mark gets stolen – and her cut of the bounty with it – by a vampire, she’s beyond angry. Out of money – and options – she’s forced to agree to work with the vampires on another matter, even though it goes against everything she’s been taught about staying under the radar and avoiding vampires.

Raegan has a smart mouth and a sharp wit, which means she constantly butts head with her vampire escort, Darius, the one who stole her mark. Though she’s forced to work with him she isn’t happy about it, and refuses to pretend otherwise. Of course that doesn’t help with the inappropriate attraction she feels toward him – which seems to be reciprocated. Good thing she knows vampires are users and can’t be trusted – especially with her secrets.

This is my first book by Breene, but it won’t be the last. It was fast-paced and action-packed from the start. Raegan’s sarcastic humor and smart mouth made for some entertaining scenes. There were a few times it bordered on being campy, though for the most part it was just a lighter UF. There’s very little romance in this book. There are hints that more may come in later books, but here it’s very mild.

There were times the story seemed to drag on. At 488 pages, it’s pretty meaty. It probably could have been cut down a bit and been an easier read. Even so, it was well-written and very enjoyable. I can’t wait to find out what happens with Raegan and Darius in the future.
