What Are You Reading? (+ Lora Leigh Giveaway)

Casee: I love 2019. I’m actually reading. Last year in January, I read two (2!) books. I might never read as much as I used to, but being able to feel like reading again is such a great feeling. I finished Toxic Game by Christine Feehan last night. It is book fifteen in her GhostWalkers series. This is my favorite series by Feehan. I am now reading Mastered by Maya Banks. This is book one in her Enforcers series. I haven’t read a book by Maya in ages. I was going through my TBR list on GR, saw this book and thought what the heck. However, this is not a romance. It is a BDSM book with romantic elements.

I am also listening to Part-Time Lover by Lauren Blakely. I am so enjoying this series on audio. The British accents? Come to mama.

Holly: I finished listening to Jace: Wolves of the Rising Sun #1 by Kenzie Cox, then listened to Aiden: Wolves of the Rising Sun #2. These are short, quick listens. Nothing super angsty or deep, but perfect for those days I’m too busy to really focus on something with more depth. I’m currently listening to Drawn Together by Lauren Dane. I love this book, but I’m not totally in love with the audiobook. I might read it instead. We’ll see.

I read The Good Ones by Jenn McFinlay, a new-to-me author. It was a cute story about a romance bookstore owner and single dad architect. I started Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson, but ended up setting it aside in favor of The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner, so I can review it with Rowena this month. I’ll get back to it soon.

Rowena: Rowena: I was pretty busy this week so I didn’t read much of anything though I did finish Right Where I Want You by Jessica Hawkins and The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner. Both were new to me authors that I was pretty stoked to read. I enjoyed the Hawkins but the Steiner didn’t work nearly as well as I hoped it would. The heroine played immature games that annoyed me and the second half of the book was slow going.

Now I’m finishing up Blood Kiss by J. R. Ward for my book club on Monday and it’s going a lot better than I thought it would. After this, it’s the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly by Jenny Holiday. I’ve heard so many good things that I’m excited to start it.

I just finished Hot Asset by Lauren Layne. I enjoyed it and will read the rest of the series. I won this book in one of your contests.

    Some recent reads here ~

    — Nora Roberts’ Of Blood and Bone: Chronicles of The One, Book 2. I found this less dark than the first book in the trilogy, but it’s still not my favourite series by the author. I do intend to read the next volume when it’s released.
–a reread of the historical romance novella The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan.
    — As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl by John Colapinto for my book group; it was a sad read, but we had a lively discussion
    — The dystopian story The Space Between the Stars; I found it easy to read despite its subject.
    — the graphic novel On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden; overall I enjoyed this, but there were definitely times where I had no clue what was going on.
    — an enjoyable picture book P Is for Pterodactyl: The Worst Alphabet Book Ever by Raj Haldar and Chris Carpenter.
