There are some mistakes we make that we will regret for the rest of our lives. For Christian, it was the day he betrayed Elizabeth.

Christian Davison has a plan for his life. He is determined to become an attorney and to one day take his place as partner in his father’s law firm. Nothing will stand in his way, not even Elizabeth Ayers and their unborn child.

After Christian cuts her from his life, Elizabeth spends the next five years struggling to provide for her daughter and willing to sacrifice anything to give her child a safe, comfortable life. For five years, Christian has regretted the day he walked away from his family and will do anything to win them back just as Elizabeth will do anything to protect her daughter from the certain heartache she believes Christian will bring upon them.

When Christian wrestles his way into their lives, Elizabeth is faced with asking herself if it is possible to forgive someone when they’ve committed the unforgivable and if it is possible to find a love after it has been buried in years of hate.

Or are there some wounds that go so deep they can never heal? They say everyone deserves a second chance.

Lost to You and Take This Regret can be read as Stand-Alone Novels. Recommended reading order: Lost to You, Take This Regret, If Forever Comes

This book picks up where Lost to You ended. Christian and Elizabeth are both happier than they have ever been. Although Elizabeth had her reservations about being in a relationship with Christian, he’s proving that all her fears were for naught. Then she finds out she is pregnant and everything goes straight to hell. After telling Christian, he gives her an ultimatum. Him or the baby. Elizabeth is devastated, but chooses her child over the man she thought loved her more than life.

Fast forward five years. During a chance meeting at the grocery store, Christian lays on the child that he abandoned. After feeling a connection that he’s never felt before, Christian knows (again) what a big mistake he made all those years ago. Now he’s determined to get to know his child, even if he has to go against Elizabeth to do it.

I had a hard time with this book. How does Christian deserve redemption after deserting Elizabeth and Lizzie? It just didn’t compute in my mind until he started making amends and showing that he really had change. This book was about forgiveness and a relationship that was so intense, the feelings never died. I really ended up liking this book.

People come into our lives. Some stay, and many go. Some build us up, while most tear us down. They become our friends, our enemies, our lovers, our tormentors. Christian Davison came into mine, and I knew I’d never be the same.

To Elizabeth Ayers, New York City had always been a dream. She’s worked her entire young life to make it here.

Groomed to one day take over his father’s law firm, attending Columbia University was Christian Davison’s only option.

Neither wanted anything more until they sat across from each other at a café table after being paired as study partners. Christian wants her, but Elizabeth knows better than to give into their intense attraction. Yet there is little she can do to stay away.

Lost to You and Take This Regret can be read as Stand-Alone Novels. Recommended reading order: Lost to You, Take This Regret, If Forever Comes.

Some websites say that this is a prequel in Jackson’s Regret series, some same that it’s the first book. After reading this book and moving onto the second, I have to say that you won’t truly appreciate the series unless you read this book first. This book really lays the groundwork for Elizabeth and Christian’s relationship.

Elizabeth and Christian are both pre-law. After being matched together as study partners, they quickly form a close friendship. Although Christian initially wants more, Elizabeth is adamant that it’s not going to happen. She knows Christian’s type and she doesn’t want to be another notch on his bedpost.

Soon a friendship forms that neither want to live without. If Christian looks at her with lust in his eyes from time to time, Elizabeth is able to brush it off. She’s not willing to risk the friendship that means so much to her for a sexual relationship that she knows will quickly bore Christian.

Elizabeth tries, but eventually succumbs to Christian. The question is, can their relationship survive? I found that I really enjoyed Elizabeth and Christian’s love story. It was sweet, but intense. This was a very quick listen from Audible Escape. A.L. Jackson continues to amaze me with the depth of her characters as well as an intense story that is impossible not to finish.
