What Are You Reading? 11-30-12

Rowena: I’m not reading a hot damn thing. I’ve been juggling through a few different books but I’m in a reading slump and nothing is working for me.  I’m trying to claw my way out of it though so wish me luck.  I’m trying to read Secrets and Lies by Ella Monroe but I keep getting distracted by other things.  I think I’m going to start Under the Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis because if anybody can dig me out of a reading slump, it’s Jill Shalvis. =)

Holly: I’ve been on a Kristen Ashley binge the last two weeks. I’ve read like 12 KA books in a row. I’m not sure if I should be pleased by this or disturbed. They’re like crack. You hit once and can’t stop. Even though I know they’re bad for me, I can’t quit. I might need an intervention.

I just finished Breathe, book 4 in her Colorado Mountain series. I didn’t love it. I felt like it was the same story recycled from her other books. Plus the characters were frustrating. I think I need a break from KA now, so I’m going to read..something else. Maybe On Dublin Street.

Casee: Hello, my name is Casee. Holly and Rowena have been shouldering the load and been so supportive with a few stern phone calls from Holly with my unemployed absence. After being employed for twelve years, I’ve been in a funk for eight months. Now that I’ve spewed that out, I am lucky enough to be reading Night Resurrected by Joss Ware. She was the first author (that I read) that wrote post-apocolyptic/zombie books. I love her.

What are you reading this last week of November?

  1. Glad you’ve found something good to read despite funk, Casee.

I’m finishing up The Red Diary by Toni Blake. Have some issues with it, but it’s a very good read. Listening to The Witness by Nora Roberts, which is an excellent audio.

BTW, I recently read one of my spring fling books, Seven Nights to Forever and it was awesome! So glad I won it!

  2. I am patiently awaiting Jill’s novella, too. I am reading Lori Wilde’s Cowboy for Christmas. I am about 1/2 way through it & it’s a good read so far. Hope to finish it tonight!

  3. Willa

    Just finished Larissa Ione’s Rogue Rider . . . Fan-tas-tic!

It had it all – romance, action, demons, Eidolon (~sigh~) hot monkey sex and humour . .. a really wonderful way to wrap up the series . . ♥

  4. Rowena

@willaful: I wanted to try The Red Diary by Toni Blake but it keeps falling off my radar. What’s wrong with the book? Or what are you issues with it? I’m just being nosy.

@Sharlene: I’m always anxiously awaiting books from Jill. She’s just so darn good. Love her.

  5. Ha! I deleted Willa’s comment on this thread unread, because I thought it was me…

Rowena, I thought it was really big on slut shaming for an erotic novel! I say keep that stuff in Harlquin Presents where it belongs. 😉

  6. Kim

I just finished A Notorious Countess Confesses by Julie Anne Long. It was a very good book and gives a few more clues about Lyon & Olivia.

  7. I just finished Karem Marie Moning’s Iced and am now trying to find my next book to dive into. I think it will be Gone Girl.

  8. Rowena

@Willa: I haven’t read anything by Larissa Ione but that book is going on my list. =)

@willaful: Haha, well her comment is still there so it’s all good. Gotcha, slut shaming in erotica books is weird anyway. It’s an erotica!

@Kim: I want to read that book!

@Kwana: I think we got that book at RWA this year, though if I remember correctly. Holly has it and not me. Gone Girl? Who wrote that one?
