What Are You Reading? (219)

Rowena: For some reason, I’m all about the NA right now. I just finished reading the When We Met Anthology by A.L. Jackson, Molly McAdams, Tiffany King and Christina Lee. That was an interesting mix of stories and I’ll be reviewing it soon so stay tuned for that. Before that, I did a re-read of The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen because I wanted to take a break from a new story and sink into something comfortable. I’ve missed Wes too. 🙂

This week, I read the My True Love Gave to Me Anthology with a crap load of short stories by authors like Stephanie Perkins, Rainbow Rowell, Gayle Forman, Kiersten White and some other new to me YA authors and while I enjoyed some of the stories a whole lot, I hated some stories too. I’m sure there is something for everyone in this anthology.

Next up, I think I’m going to read the Chelsea Fine books. Or the Sarina Bowen books. Maybe the Julie Cross book that I’ve had my eye on for what seems like weeks. As you can see, I’m not sure what I’m going to pick up next. But it’s probably going to be an NA.

Holly: I started the week reading Razed by Shiloh Walker. This is the much anticipated sequel to Wrecked. It features Keelie, Nate’s business partner from the first book, with his brother, Zane. I was a little nervous going in since I didn’t love Keelie in the first book, but I ended up really liking it. More than the first book, actually.

I also read Claimed by Evangeline Anderson, a free book I downloaded. I was intrigued by the premise of the series and I admit the world-building is pretty great, but the story really frustrated me at times. Since the majority of the book is centered on the couple and their mating period, there wasn’t a lot of outside distraction, which really worked against the story. The book was much too long to be focused only on their back and forth. I started Hunted, book 2, which I’m enjoying a lot more. It doesn’t seem as repetitive and there’s a lot more going on outside the couple, which is good.

I re-read The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood, which I absolutely adored. That book never gets old. I’ve read it hundreds of times and I still love it just as much as I did the first time. No joke, I finished my re-read and was tempted to start it all over again. That, naturally, prompted a re-read of Guardian Angel, my other favorite book in that series. I’m still debating if I want to read The Gift and Castles again. I didn’t care for either of those the first time around (or in the case of Castles, even after multiple re-reads) but I may give them another go to see if my feelings have changed.

What are you reading this week? Anything good? Bad? Share!

  1. I read Leslie Tentlers new RS – Fallen. Was fab! 😀 Other than that have been re-reading her other books – the Midnight trilogy.

  2. Celine

I’m about to start Night of a Thousand Stars by Deanna Raybourn. After that, I think I might reread Heaven, Texas by SEP. I don’t reread often since I am always so behind on new books to read but I’ve been almost craving that book.

    • I remember greatly disliking H,T when I first read it. I wonder if my feelings would be different now? I may have to re-read it myself and see.
