Rowena: It’s been a pretty busy week for me.  Things have picked up at work but I still managed to get some reading done.  I read Out of the Shallows by Samantha Young, which I did not like at all.  Charley got on my hot damn nerves.  Every last one of them.  I also re-read Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas (loved), You Had Me at Hello by Mhairi McFarLane (great read), Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas (loved Leo), How to Meet Boys by Catherine Clark and Broken Hearts, Fences and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn.

My favorite reads of the week go to You Had me at Hello by Mhairi McFarLane and my two Lisa Kleypas re-reads. I went on a mini Kleypas glom and enjoyed the hell out of it.  You Had Me at Hello reminded me of Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern but I liked this one a lot more.  Mostly because it didn’t take them 50 years to get together (though, hell…it did take them a while, ha!)

My least favorite read this week is Out of the Shallows by Samantha Young.  Ugh, I’ve been looking forward to this book since reading Into the Deep but holy shit! I wanted to beat Charley over the head with a bat for being so stupid.  I was so disappointed!

Right now I’m reading How to Lose a Duke in Ten Days by Laura Lee Guhrke.  So far, so good.

Holly: I had a slow reading week. I don’t know why. I re-read Count on Me by Lauren Dane, which is so good. I can’t wait for all the rest of you to read it. I also re-read Lost in You, book 2 in that series, just because. Then I re-read Now You See Her by Linda Howard. I love Richard and Sweeney.

Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley is a novella in the Dark and Deadly: Eight Bad Boys of Paranormal Romance (only $.99!)  anthology that’t releasing this month. It’s a Shifters Unbound short story about Rowen the bear shifter. I loved it. He’s so cute. Untamed Hunger, another novella (this time a free download) by Aubrey Ross wasn’t bad. I may pick up another book in the series.

The Bottom Line by Sandy James is the first book in her Ladies Who Lunch series. I thought it was a solid read. I got frustrated with both characters at times, but I was fully invested in the story.

I also re-read two Lisa Kleypas books. Where Dreams Begin and Love in the Afternoon. I love Beatrix. The squirrel scene had me cracking up.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I finished Hard Time by Cara McKenna, which was just so shivery. And tried to start the audiobook of Prodigy by Marie Lu, but my app is giving me trouble. 🙁
