Casee: I am still reading Michele Mills Catastrophe series. I’m currently reading Live For You which is the third book in the series. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It’s very sexually descriptive and extremely over the top. I wouldn’t mind the descriptive part if it wasn’t so eye-rolling.
I’m listening to Drowning to Breathe by A.L. Jackson. It’s the second book in her Bleeding Stars series. I really enjoyed A Stone in the Sea, the first book. I just love A.L. Jackson period.
Holly: I re-read Now You See Her and Heartbreaker by Linda Howard. I enjoyed both. I read and listened to Don’t You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane to review with Rowena. It was a lovely read. I’m glad she chose it for us. I listened to The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith, a Kindle First book. I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the mood for a gothic fairytale. I also listened to Aris by Sarah J. Stone and part of Shopping for a Billionaire by Julia Kent. They were both pretty awful. I couldn’t even finish the Kent.
I’m currently reading Wicked Garden by Bryn Donovan and listening to Saving Grace by Julie Garwood.
Rowena: First off, I can’t believe we’ve been doing this weekly feature for 500 weeks! We’ve been doing this thing forever it seems like. I’ve been really busy at work this week so I haven’t been reading as much as I can and the books that I am reading are all older books written by Julie Garwood. I read The Wedding, Saving Grace. Gah, I have so much love for both of those books and I think I’m going to continue re-reading my way through the rest of her backlist just cause I want to.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!
I just finished two Karina Halle royal romances: THE WILD HEIR (which I liked) and A NORDIC KING (which I loved). Both are opposites-attract with an element of enemies-(or, perhaps antagonists would be a better word)-to-lovers. THE WILD HEIR uses the arranged marriage trope and has some humor, along with a serious subplots about negligent families and undiagnosed ADHD. A NORDIC KING, a nanny-employer romance, is angsty and melancholy—therefore, pure catnip.
I just started Ruth Cardello’s THE BROKEN ONE, about a widower and a single mom, and so far it’s very, very good!
Read this past week ~
— Ends, Means, Laws and an Angry Ship by Lyn Gala. This is a new book (the fifth) in an existing series, but it introduces new characters. I liked where the book ended; however, much of the book felt like an introduction for what comes next. Don’t get me wrong — I am certainly interested in what comes next. I do miss my favorite characters from the previous books.
— Clutch (Forbidden Desires Book 1) by Piper Scott which was a light male/male romance that I enjoyed.
— reread Earth Fathers Are Weird by Lyn Gala which I enjoyed once more. This is a human/alien romance.
— A Beginner’s Guide to American Mah Jongg: How to Play the Game & Win by Elaine Sandberg. I’m a fairly new player, but I would say this is a good book for someone who wishes to learn to play National League Mah Jongg.
— the non-fiction The Red Dragon & The West Wind: The Winning Guide to Official Chinese & American Mah-Jongg by Tom Sloper which clarified a few Mah-Jongg questions that I had and taught me some new things.
