Casee: You guys, I am still reading Year One by Nora Roberts. Last week I was really into it, but due to unforeseen circumstances that actually have nothing to do with my remodel, I have had negative zero time to read. Which is really a shame because I really liked how this book began. I hope I can get back into this because I am also really looking forward to Blood Fury by J.R. Ward. Blood Fury is a book in Ward’s Black Dagger Legacy series, which I’m enjoying more than the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
Holly: I spent the week reading The Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet. A Promise of Fire, book 1, was pretty good. I had some issues with it, but I enjoyed it enough to immediately start the second. Breath of Fire was really slow moving through the first half, but picked up in the second. Heart on Fire, the final book, just irritated the crap out of me. It was about 300 pages too long and mostly consisted of the heroine whining. It took forever to read and honestly, I feel like that’s 7 hours of my life I’ll never get back.
Next I’m going to read Beyond Scandal and Desire by Lorraine Heath.
Rowena: This week was a little slow for me. I’ve been all over the place but I did manage to finish Beyond Scandal and Desire by Lorraine Heath and I really liked that one. On top of the sweet romance, there was a lot going on there that was just flat out interesting. The baby farming, the real story behind Mick’s birth and just everything. There was a lot of great stuff in there and I’m pretty excited for Gillie’s book.
After that, I read About that Kiss by Jill Shalvis and really enjoyed that one as well. Jill Shalvis has really hit her stride with this series and I’m enjoying the heck out of it now. I adored both Joe and Kylie and everyone else but mostly Joe and Kylie. I’m low key wondering if Molly is going to end up with Lucas. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
Now I’m reading The Truth about Love and Dukes by Laura Lee Guhrke for my book club. I’ve been reading it for two days and I’m not making a lot of progress in it. I’m low key bored but I have to finish it because it’s my book club book and book club is on Monday. Wish me luck!

Death Below Stairs by Jennifer Ashley
Series: Kat Holloway Mysteries #1
Release Date: January 2nd, 2018
Publisher: Berkley
Genres: Historical Mystery
Pages: 336
Victorian class lines are crossed when cook Kat Holloway is drawn into a murder that reaches all the way to the throne.
Highly sought-after young cook Kat Holloway takes a position in a Mayfair mansion and soon finds herself immersed in the odd household of Lord Rankin. Kat is unbothered by the family’s eccentricities as long as they stay away from her kitchen, but trouble finds its way below stairs when her young Irish assistant is murdered.
Intent on discovering who killed the helpless kitchen maid, Kat turns to the ever-capable Daniel McAdam, who is certainly much more than the charming delivery man he pretends to be. Along with the assistance of Lord Rankin’s unconventional sister-in-law and a mathematical genius, Kat and Daniel discover that the household murder was the barest tip of a plot rife with danger and treason—one that’s a threat to Queen Victoria herself.

Oooo, I’ve been intrigued by this one! Excited to give it a try
I’m reading an anthology called Rules of Engagement which includes Stephanie Laurens ‘The Reasons for Marriage’ and two short novellas.
Sending Rowena a ‘low key’ wave! 😀
I decided to stick with the anthology trend I started during the holidays and am reading The Desires of a Duke.
I’m reading The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers and quite enjoying it.
I’m eager to read the new Jennifer Ashley book.
I am not reading anything at the moment, need to make a trip to the library 🙂
I love Jennifer Ashley and I’m very curious to check out this new series. I just finished Curse on the Land, which is book 2 in Faith Hunter’s Soulwood series and I’ve got a serious book hangover because it was sooo good. It’s UF, with no romance yet, but a hint of one to come.
The Art of Running in Heels
The Art of Running in Heels by Rachel Gibson
A Promise of Fire was at the top of my next to be read list. Now I’m worried since it sounds like the series has diminishing returns. What I have been reading has been good. Ready to Run by Lauren Layne was cute. I really enjoyed Beginner’s Guide: Love and Other Chemical Reactions by Six de los Reyes. It was super sweet. Into the Bright Unknown by Rae Carson was a nice finale to the series. Now I’m reading and enjoying Bollywood and the Beast by Suleikha Snyder.
