What Are You Reading? (292)

WAYR-New

Casee: I’ve been on a Christine Feehan re-reading binge this week. I haven’t been reading her GhostWalker series recently so I decided to re-read it from the beginning. I read Shadow Game and Mind Game this week. Both books made me remember why I liked the series so much. I am looking forward to getting the next few books from the library. Now I am reading Running Scared by Christy Reece. It’s part of her LCR Elite series. I really like this series and the prologue has already pulled me in.

Holly: Rowena and I are both having crazy weeks, so neither of us are reading much. I miss the long, lazy days of summer when I did nothing but read. Can we go back to that?

What are you reading and loving this week?

  1. One of these days I’m gonna read Christine Feehan! I see her all over the place, and I’m pretty sure I have a bunch of her books buried in my TBR pile somewhere.

This week I read the third book in Stephanie Laurens’ Cynster series, Scandal’s Bride, which I liked but didn’t love, and Selling Grace, by Samantha Westlake, which was kinda meh. Short, yet it seemed to take forever to read. Now I’m reading The Lyon Legacy by Peg Sutherland, Roz Denny Fox, and Ruth Jean Dale. I’m a Roz Denny Fox fan which is why I picked up this book – I haven’t read Sutherland or Dale before. The Sutherland story, “The Beginning” was pretty good, and now I’ve just started the Fox story, “Silver Anniversary”.

    • I’m really interested in reading Shadow Rider. I can’t believe I completely forgot about that.

Holy crap, it’s been ages since I read any of the Cynster novels and I remember Scandal’s Bride. Not much, but I remember reading it. I liked it but didn’t love it either.

I was away from home for a time visiting a couple of friends so I haven’t read as much as I normally do. This list includes a several week’s worth of reading. I enjoyed them all unless I say otherwise.

    — Sarina Bowen’s Bittersweet which I won here. (Thank you!)
    — a re-read of a favorite historical romance novella: The Governess Affair (The Brothers Sinister) by Courtney Milan
    — I re-read Mary Balogh’s historical romance The Secret Mistress. I liked it better this time than when I had read it initially; however, it is not among my favorites of her books.
    — a re-read of Ishmael (Star Trek: The Original Series) by Barbara Hambly
    — The Captain’s Daughter (Star Trek: The Original Series) by Peter David
    — I read a very short work that has been highly praised. It was an easy read and the Australian setting was of interest; that said, it did not speak to me, and I’m bemused at all the praise it has garnered. Springtime: A Ghost Story by Michelle de Kretser
    — I re-read A Solitary Man by Shira Anthony and Aisling Mancy which is a male/male romance. I’d caution prospective readers that this book deals with the trafficking of children for sexual exploitation.
    — Mary Balogh’s historical romance Longing
    — a re-read of Patricia Briggs’ Blood Bound
    — the contemporary romance Fly With Me (A Wild Aces Romance) by Chanel Cleeton which had me crying at one point.
    — several novels and novellas in the male/male romance Glasgow Lads series: Play It Safe, Playing to Win, Play On, and Playing for Keeps.
    — Julianna Keyes Time Served
    — Annabeth Albert’s Status Update
    — Strong Signal by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell

I read Tamed by Emma Chase which I enjoyed but not as much as her Legal Briefs series and two books by Emma Barry, Brave in Heart and Private Politics. I wasn’t up to reading today, but I have Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh from the library. I’m trying a new technique to get my tbr list down so I’m trying to read everything I have by an author then move on to another so after the library book I’ll read Rock Hard. It’s the only book in Singh’s Kiss Hard series I haven’t read yet (other than the upcoming Rock Wedding).
