Casee: I’m reading Keep Me by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman. This is the second book in The Rossi Crime Family. I don’t know why these books are so compelling to me. The heroes drive me crazy. I can’t stop. I keep asking myself why, but I have no answers.
I’m listening to Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews. This is book six in the Kate Daniels series. I adore this series on audio. I feel like the narrator really nails Kate’s attitude and emotions. I love this series!
Holly: I finished listening to The Traitor Queen by Danielle Jensen. I really enjoyed that series. She’s planning at least two more in the same world and I can’t wait to read them. I’m only sad The Traitor Queen wasn’t available in ebook format. I plan to buy it when it’s released in September. I also finished reading Alpha Night by Nalini Singh. It was good. I love Selenka’s Pack and hope we see more of them in the future. I DNF’d Oath Sworn by Kristen Banet after reading just a few pages. The writing wasn’t working for me. I’m not sure if it was me or the book. I may try again at a later date. I also read When He’s Dark by Suzanne Wright, the first book in the Olympus Pride series, an off-shoot of the Phoenix and Mercury Pack books. I liked it. I’m glad she’s writing more in that world. I started reading End Game by Hailey Edwards, but I put it aside about 25% in. I need to go back and read Rise Against. There are too many details I’m missing.
I’m currently listening to Entreat Me by Grace Draven, a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I’m loving the dynamic between the main characters. I’m looking for a good paranormal book or series. Any recommendations?
Rowena: As with a whole lot of weeks in 2020, this week was a slow reading week. I barely read this week and because of that, I barely finished Alpha Night by Nalini Singh last night but I’m now ready to jump back into Kate Daniel’s world with Magic Binds. I’ll probably start it over the weekend after I finish binging Goblin, which is a very good Korean drama.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!
My favorite read this week was Winter Renshaw’s THE BEST MAN, a beautifully-written book about the roles chance and coincidence play in our lives. It was a lovely slow-burn romance.
I had to DNF J.T. Geissinger’s BEAUTIFULLY CRUEL. Maybe it was just me, but I didn’t care about the characters and could not get into the story.
I’m reading Feels Like Falling by Kristy Woodson Harvey. I’m enjoying it.
Since last week ~
— An American Marriage by Tayari Jones which my book group discussed on Zoom. I found it to be a depressing read. (It seems that my book group reads predominantly depressing books! How about yours?)
— Top Secret by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy. I expect this is a book I’ll reread as I liked both of the leads. This is a male/male romance.
— Barrayar (Vorkosigan Saga) by Lois McMaster Bujold which I liked. I’d read the author’s Shards of Honor last year, and I recommend reading that before this book.
— enjoyed Heels Over Head by Elyse Springer, a male/male contemporary romance.
@Kareni: I also read HEELS OVER HEAD this week and really enjoyed it. I reminded me of Rachel Reid’s HEATED RIVALRY in some ways.
It was a fun read! (And I’m definitely looking forward to reading Heated Rivalry.)
