What Are You Reading? (523)

Casee: I’m on a Christine Feehan binge this week. I finished Lethal Game last week then realized that I hadn’t read Viper Game or Spider Game. I’m reading Spider Game right now. I really enjoy this series though reading one right after does show the flaws of the series more than it would if I just read one.

I’m listening to Committed by Penelope Sky. This series is like a train wreck for me. I can’t quit it.

Holly: Miracle of miracles, I finished a new-to-me book this week, The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy. I’m not super happy with how it ended, but the story was good and I’m looking forward to the next book. I’m going to start Protect the Prince by Jennifer Estep today.

Rowena: I read this week. Yay! I finished up Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews and then I read Magic Rises. Now, I’m reading The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy. I should be finished with it in the next day or so. I’m planning on reading either another Kate Daniels book or whatever book Ames chooses for us to read together this month. I’ll let you guys know next week what that ends up being. Happy Friday everyone!

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

This week I read a bunch of Cora Reilly’s dark mafia romances—I guess Reilly is my version of Penelope Sky. Her books are dark & violent with heroines who have very little agency—plus there’s enough virginity fetishism to fuel an entire shelf of Alexa Riley Princess books—but I’m gulping them down like popcorn. My favorite one was TWISTED PRIDE about a mafia family kidnapping the daughter of a rival mafia family on her wedding day.

I’m currently reading Kristen Callihan’s DEAR ENEMY. I like the antagonists-to-lovers set-up, but I would have liked more background on the heroine’s sister whose criminal act of stealing an expensive watch set the plot in motion.

    Since last time ~

    — finished The Parable of the Mustard Seed by Lisa Henry, a male/male romance. I enjoyed it, but I prefer other books by the author. This one had abuse content that many might find disconcerting.

My husband had surgery a week ago so not much got read this week.
