Casee: I’ve been doing better this month than last month when it comes to reading. I’m reading Into the Dark by Karen Rose. I adore Karen Rose. Her books are always riveting and have me on the edge of my seat. I’ve only read one chapter, but it proves that this book is going to be amazing. I can’t wait to dive into it.
I’m supposed to be listening to Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James. Holly and I started it when I was visiting over the weekend. Alas, I couldn’t stop listening to A.L. Jackson’s Bleeding Stars series. I’m on the last book of the series, which is called Stand. I’m really looking forward to getting further into it. I love the two narrators.
Holly: I’m sick with a head cold, so I haven’t been able to focus on reading much this week. I re-read Alpha & Omega and Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs, and re-listened to Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James (because I forced Casee to listen to it with me while she was in town). Aside from that, I got nothing. I’ve been binge-watching the early seasons of Supernatural instead of reading.
I’m still currently listening to An Inquiry into Love and Death by Simone St. James and reading Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!
I’m reading JC Harroway’s THE PROPOSITION because it is the third of Dare’s four-book Millionaire’s Club series (each book written by a different author) and I enjoyed the first two books (Jackie Ashenden’s THE DEBT and Caitlin Crews’s excellent THE RISK). While the synopsis of THE PROPOSITION (older heroine, younger hero, both billionaires, both with significant family issues involving their fathers, agree to a no-strings-attached sexual affair which morphs into something more emotional as they travel to various glamour spots on the globe) seemed interesting, Harroway’s tedious tell-not-show style and vertigo-inducing character about-faces is leaving me completely uninterested. I’ll finish it because I want to read all the books in the series, but I didn’t not think I’ll be looking for more books by Harroway.
I was out of town for most of the week with a friend so did not do much reading.
— I quite enjoyed Quarter Share (Trader’s Tales from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper Book 1) by Nathan Lowell. I started it yesterday after my friend left, finished it today, and have begun book two. It’s classified as science fiction because it takes place in space, but it’s a rather mellow story with no battles. The Trader’s Tales name of the series is accurate as a lot of trading takes place. This book would be a fine read for teens as well as adults.
— I read and enjoyed Polaris Rising (The Consortium Rebellion Book 1) by Jessie Mihalik which I’d describe as a science fiction action romance. While I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series, I don’t think this is a book I’ll be quick to reread.
And I want to say “thank you” for Polaris Rising which I won in a giveaway here!
I’m reading Faithful Lies by Chelly Bosworth.
