What Are You Reading? (290)

WAYR-New

Casee: This week has been a good week for me insofar as I not only read one book, but two. Two whole books in a week. Since my binge in April, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. For me, it’s just finding the time to read and not letting other things get in the way. You know, like the house, the kids, things like that.

I’m reading Bay of Sighs by Nora Roberts. It’s book two in her Guardians Trilogy. The first book was meh, but this book is turning out to be a little better. I usually just love the trilogies she puts out each year (Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy last year), but this one isn’t pulling me in. Luckily, the two characters in this book are two of my favorite. You absolutely can not love Annika. You just can’t.

Holly: I reread a couple books this week and managed to get through Moonstruck by Lauren Dane. I enjoyed it, but I’m irritated it ended on a cliffhanger. Dane’s books don’t usually, so I was surprised. Mostly I’m irritated because the next book isn’t scheduled to come out until the fall. I have to wait that long to find out what happens?!?

My upcoming week looks to be more relaxed, so I have a list of books I’m going to try to get through. Wish me luck?

Rowena: I’m still not getting as much reading done as I’d like with all of the graduations, homecomings and promotions going on this month but I’m hoping that by Monday, I should be back in action on the reading front for good. The last of our family that came down on June 1st leave for home tomorrow and I’m looking forward to getting back to normal.

This week, I finished up Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh (great book), Smolder by Karen Erickson (another great book), Broken Prince by Erin Watt (talk about drama! I loved it!) and Stay Until We Break by Mercy Brown. All books that I read this week were great. I loved them all.

Now I’m reading The Billionaire Bachelor by Jessica Lemmon. I’ve never read anything by her and this book sounded interesting so I’m going in.

  1. I’ve been having a great reading streak as well (surprisingly enough). I’m not familiar with all these books, but I’m curious about that new Nora Roberts.

    Happy reading, ladies!

After a couple of meh reads, I read two really good books this week. The first was Vindicate by Beth Yarnall, which featured a heroine trying to prove that her brother had been wrongly convicted for the murder of his girlfriend. The second was The Secrets of Mary Bowser by Lois Leveen. It was a fictionalized history based on a real life former slave woman who is believed to have been a spy for the Union during the Civil War and was a fascinating read with lots of period details.

I had a really good reading week considering I was fairly busy. I seriously have an addiction to picking up old Harlequins at the thrift store on half price day and it’s getting out of hand. I may or may not have bought an overflowing paper grocery bag full of them last week. Ahem. The worst is I don’t have time to read them all! I only got through one of them so far and it wasn’t anything special. I also caught up on a few review copies I had lying around, including Deadly Odds by Adrienne Giordano which was a very funny romantic suspense I loved, and Fan the Flames by Katie Ruggle which was maybe a little outside my usual zone but still worth a read. I also read a Linnea Sinclair, Finders Keepers. I hadn’t read her before but I enjoyed the book. It’s a little heavy on the sci fi world building details and political intrigue for me, but I still liked the action and the main couple.
