Casee: I consider my duty as the mother of two Catholic children done by mentioning Good Friday. Which leads me into the Easter bunny story I had with my nine year old daughter. This really isn’t the place for it, but it’s so funny that I really have a need to share. Both my kids know the meaning of Easter Sunday (the religious one). The day before yesterday I asked my nine year old daughter how she thought the Easter bunny got involved in the whole thing. She said “well, when they put his body (meaning Jesus) in the cave, a bunny must have hopped by”. Out of the mouths of babes.
I just finished reading Savage Nature by Christine Feehan. It was really good. Much better than Burning Wild. Honestly I don’t even remember reading Wild Fire which doesn’t say much. I’m about to start Night Magic by Jennifer Lyon. I love the Wing Slayer series. I can’t believe I missed the release of this book. I’m sure I’ll love it as much as I loved the first two in the series. If you haven’t read this series, start with book one and book two.
Holly: We’re planning a trip to Northern Cali for Easter. Only I got sick and might not be able to go. Doesn’t it always happen that way? My reading has been really slow for the month, though it did pick up a bit the last week. I read The Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley. It was really good. Definitely on par with the other books in the series. I also read Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn and The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross. I enjoyed both, in different ways.
Today I started To Love a Thief by Julie Anne Long. I’m still pretty early in, but I’m enjoying it. I do have to mention the number of typos, though. I’ve noticed this is a recurring theme in JAL novels and it’s very distracting. Missing words, misspellings, poor sentence structure..I realize these things happen, but it seems to happen more often in Long novels. I used to blame Avon, but this is a Warner Forever book, so?
Aside from that, the story is engaging. We’ll see how it goes.
What are you reading?
Reading a harrowing nonfiction book, What I Thought I Knew. In romance, reading Death’s Excellent Vacation and An Invitation to Sin, both anthologies. DEV has some terrific storis by authors I’ve never read before. — willaful
In honor of Beverly Barton who passed away suddenly yesterday, I am going to re-read ‘Close Enough To Kill’. This is the book that brought me back to the Romance genre after years of reading mystery, suspense, thrillers and true crime. RIP, Ms. Barton and thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.
I’m finally reading “Vampire Mine” by Kerrilyn Sparks. It’s been sitting on my night stand for a while, and I’ve been putting it off. Pleasantly surprised so far, considering the reviews I’ve read.
ooh, Holly, I am looking forward to the Jennifer Ashley, I really like that series.
I am currently re-reading Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series, and am reading By The Sword.
I’ve hit a rough patch and can’t seem to get through No Turning Back (Deanna Jewell) and just can’t seem to get interested in anything!
I am reading Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella!
I’ve noticed the poor sentence structure in many Jal novels, too. It’s a shame because she’s a good storyteller.
I’m currently reading Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts. It’s okay, but not as good as some of her other novels. I almost find Rowan’s father’s relationship more intriguing than Rowan’s own. It’s also a bit too detailed on forest fire fighting.
