Holly: I was still in a Patricia Briggs mood this week, so I did a re-read of Dead Heat (to round out the series from last week’s binge), then I re-read the Mercy Thompson series. I read books 1-6, skipped 7 and re-read Fire Touched (which is really fabulous). I skipped Night Broken because all it did was piss me off the first time around and I’m afraid my reaction will be the same – or worse.
I don’t know what I’m going to read next. I started Hot in Hellcat Canyon by Julie Anne Long, but I’m not in the mood for contempories right now. I may just dig through my TBR pile to see what kind of UF/PNR I have waiting for me.
Rowena: It’s been a pretty good reading week for me. I read Blurred Lines by Lauren Layne since I can’t seem to get enough of her stuff. I enjoyed Blurred Lines but there were times when I wanted to karate chop both the heroine and the hero but in the end, it was a good read. I also read Nowhere But Here and Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry. I enjoyed both books but they both came with their fair share of frustrations. Still, I can’t wait for the next, next book. I also read Sweet Seduction by Daire St. Denise and it didn’t work out so well for me. I couldn’t get over the deception and ugh. I just couldn’t.
Now I’m reading Fully Ignited by Shannon Stacey and so far, it’s pretty good. I hope it stays that way.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!
Recently read ~
— I re-read C. S. Pacat’s Captive Prince: Book One of the Captive Prince Trilogy and then followed that up with Prince’s Gambit and Kings Rising; I’d recommend the trilogy to adventurous readers.
— Act Like It which was a very enjoyable contemporary romance by Lucy Parker
— the new adult romance The Score (Off-Campus Book 3) by Elle Kennedy which I won here! (thanks again) and enjoyed.
— Coming Back (Ink & Chrome Book 3) by Lauren Dane which started slowly but which was ultimately a pleasant read.
— Pamela Clare’s Seduction Game: An I-Team Novel. I ultimately enjoyed it, but the hero certainly did some unsavory things during the course of the book.
— the contemporary male/male romance Blueberry Boys by Vanessa North. It was enjoyable.
— a few graphic novels: The Sculptor by Scott McCloud which was quite good; Essex County Volume 1: Tales From The Farm (Essex County) by Jeff Lemire which I liked; and Pretty Deadly Vol. 1 by Kelly DeConnick and Emma Rios which I found confusing.
— Some Zentangle books by Suzanne McNeill: Zentangle Basics, Zentangle 2, Zentangle 6, and Zentangle 9 as well as Totally Tangled: Zentangle and Beyond by Sandy Steen Bartholomew. All were worth my time.
My mojo has run away with Holly’s so am doing some re-reading – Laura Griffin’s Tracers series. ☺
I’m sorry your mojo and mine are vacationing together. Hopefully they’ll be back soon. :/
Doesn’t Griffin have a new book coming out soon?
