Rowena: Another good reading week for me. I read some pretty good books. I read Imaginary Lines by Allison Parr which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed getting to know both Tamar and Abraham and I liked the way that Parr handled the whole journalist breaking the big story that had backlash on the superstar athlete. After that, I read The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik which was another entertaining story. I followed that read up with Hung Up by Kristen Tracy and while it wasn’t my favorite read of the week, it still had its moments of happy. I just finished reading Vixen in Velvet by Loretta Chase and again, really enjoyed that one. It’s a great addition to that series.
Now, I’m reading Never Been Kissed by Molly O’Keefe. So far, it’s good.
Holly: I didn’t read a lot this week. I have a kid and husband free weekend, however, so I plan to make up for that.
I read Taking it All by Maya Banks, book 3 in the Surrender Trilogy. Whew boy was it angsty. The ending was a little rushed, but I liked the story. Peanut Goes to School by Thea Harrison is the novella that comes after Pia Saves the Day. I love Liam, Pia and Dragos’ son. This novella is told mostly from his point-of-view. I loved it. It was adorable.
Guarded by Mary Behre was an alright read. I had some trouble with the suspense aspect (no surprise there) and the writing was kind of choppy at times, but overall it wasn’t a bad read. Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley is one I somehow overlooked in my many binges of her books. The first half really tugged at my emotions. I cried more than once. The second half didn’t hold up so well, but the first half made it worth reading.
I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I have a giant TBR list I’m going to try to get through in the next couple weeks, so I’m going to start there.
What are you reading this week? Anything good or bad?
A classic: ‘Frederica’, by Georgette Heyer. I’m struggling with it. It looks like the rest of Heyer’s books I’ve read: difficult to warm up to them at the beginning, but then there comes a moment when you cannot stop reading b/c it’s just wonderful.
I’ve had the same thoughts on the books that I’ve read by Heyer. They were really slow in the beginning but once they picked up (if I stayed with them long enough), they turned into wonderful stories.
I just finished Searching for Someday by Jennifer Probst. Really good! I am now reading & loving Jill Shalvis’ Rumor Has It. I can’t believe I am so behind- I usually read Jill’s books as soon as they come out! Vixen in Velvet is on my list, and I may have to reread the first 2 books, since it has been so long between them.
Ooh, thanks for the rec. I’ll definitely look into Probst. I’ve been seeing her around but I haven’t touched any of her stuff yet. Must fix that.
Ooh, you’ve got some great reading to get to by Shalvis. Her books are always such treats.
