Rowena: Things are finally getting back to normal with my Colorado family back home, safe and sound (yay). I read Only Everything by Kieran Scott which was different from her other series, the series that I cannot think of right now (and am too lazy to look up), the one with Jake. Ames, what’s the name of that series again? 🙂 It was really slow going for me and I didn’t connect with any of the characters really. When the book ended, I expected to feel more of anything but that wasn’t the case. It’s one of those, this wasn’t for me reads and that’s disappointing.
After that, I read Whisper to Me by Christina Lee which I really enjoyed. I loved reading Rachel’s back story and getting to know her through the entire story. I loved seeing that there was more to her than her party girl persona and I thought Kai was freaking delicious. Christina Lee continues to shine with this book and I am thirsty for more. Cannot wait for the next book.
Now, I’m reading Tease by Sophie Jordan. This is the second book in the Ivy Chronicles series and one that I’m really enjoying. Emerson isn’t an easy character to connect with but I like her and am looking forward to seeing where her story takes her. And Shaw? Holy hot damn. What a freaking hottie. I want me a slice of that deliciousness. I should finish this tonight and then I have no idea what I’ll read next. Maybe Imaginary Lines by Allison Parr. I’ve been looking forward to reading that one.
Holly:Â I’m still in a weird reading funk. I want to read and when I start a book I generally finish it in one sitting. But nothing sounds good to me. Strange.
Today I read Breathe for Me by Natalie Anderson, a free download. It was really good. I was surprised at how dark it was. I’m looking forward to the next few books in the series.
I read Offside by Juliana Stone, another free download. The series is about triplets. The writing was kind of choppy and I had some issues with the story, but I enjoyed it enough to buy the second book in the series. I doubt I’ll read the third book. That particular triplet interests me not at all. Though I will reserve judgment until I read the next book.
I tried reading Girl at the Gay Bar by Layla Lewis but it was nasty. The way she was forced pushed all my buttons. I turned it off after about a chapter and deleted it from my Nook.
Pia Saves the Day by Thea Harrison was an excellent novella. I adore her Elder Races series and look forward to these little slice-of-life updates between full-length releases. I cried my way through this one. Oh, how my heart hurt. This prompted me to re-read Dragos Takes a Holiday, Dragon Bound and Serpent’s Kiss. (Aside: I cannot wait for Night’s Honor, the next full-length release. If only I didn’t have to wait until FREAKING SEPTEMBER!)
Finally, I re-read Faking It by Jennifer Crusie. I was talking to my daughter about Muffins vs Donuts and Poor Baby’s and I ended up reading the whole thing. It was never my favorite Crusie novel, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Her mad-cap romances never fail me.
I haven’t decided what I’ll read next. Maybe Taking It All by Maya Banks. I’m in the mood for something angst-y and I heard it fits the bill.
