Rowena: After the read-a-thon last week, it’s been a much quieter week of reading for me this time around. I read Do or Die by Suzanne Brockmann, Pivot Point by Kasie West and The Distance Between Us by Kasie West. Right now, I’m reading Split Second by Kasie West (I’m addicted to her stuff) and then after I finish this, I’m going to do a quick re-read of Into the Deep by Samantha Young. I’m looking forward to my weekend of reading. =)
Holly: I’ve been mostly reading short stories or category length books this week. I haven’t had time for much else. Most of them were free downloads I thought sounded interesting.
I finished Air Bound by Christine Feehan. I really enjoyed it.
Fresh Temptation by Reeni Austin is a contemp about a billionaire and a single mother. I wasn’t very impressed with it. Both characters irritated me and there were a lot of editing issues.
Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover is a novella that came on my radar when Atria announced it was going to publish it in print thanks to a big push by fans on Twitter. I have to admit, it was a wonderful story. Not wonderful enough to pay $9 (which is what the print will be priced at) for, but I’d definitely recommend downloading it if you haven’t already.
Werewolf Love Story Part 1 by H.T. Night was just okay. Parts of it were interesting but there were a lot of problems with it. I haven’t decided if I’m curious enough to read the next story. The way I’m feeling today? No.
First Ink and Shattered Ink by Laura Wright were pretty good. I had some issues with the way the story developed but I did zip right through them.
Misunderstandings by Tiffany King was good. There were quite a few misunderstandings as the title implies, but I was wrapped up in the story.
Last night I re-read Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley mostly because I couldn’t focus on anything else.
If I get time I’m going to start Between the Devil and Ian Eversea by Julie Anne Long tonight. I’m pretty excited.
What are you reading this week? Anything good?
Sounds like I need to look into Kasie West! I’m reading a Love Inspired, Christmas Countdown, by Vicki Hinze. I normally don’t have a lot of trouble suspending belief, but the plot of this book just seems so unrealistic to me, I almost gave up on it at one point. I’d never read this author before.
My only other read this past week was Big Brother by Lionel Shriver. I love her writing, but the twist at the end left me still not sure how I felt about it! I guess if I’m still thinking about it though, that says something.
Oh man, you’ve got me hankering for more Kristen Ashley. I have like 3 of her books on my Kindle but can only read one at a time! Decisions, decisions!
Which KA books do you have waiting?
I’m reading Douglas, by Grace Burrowes. I do love her historicals. And boy, am I jealous of you–I’d love to have Between the Devil and Ian Eversea up next on my TBR! Have fun.
I love Long’s Pennyroyal Green books, but I’m not feeling historicals right now. Do I start it and hope it pulls me from my historical funk, or do I put it off in case my funk kills it for me? Decisions, decisions.
I definitely think it says something if you’re still thinking about it. I think about that sometimes with books I really, really dislike. If I feel such passionate hatred for the story or the characters, at least I can say the author engaged my emotions, right?
