Holly: I’ve been in a weird reading mood. I want to read. I just don’t know what I want to read. I keep craving paranormals (shifters to be exact) but when I start one it’s slow going. So strange.
I read 4 books this week. Finding It by Cora Carmack, which I enjoyed as long as I don’t think too hard about the problematic story, ridiculous actions of the characters or abrupt ending. Love a Little Sideways by Shannon Stacey, a Kowalski novel, was just what I was in the mood for. I love that quacky family and it was nice to go on another camping trip OF DOOM with them.
Night Broken by Patricia Briggs was good, but I struggled with a couple parts of it. I don’t usually finish a Mercy Thompson book and feel…disappointed…but that’s exactly what I felt this time. I’m going to do a re-read in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same. Today I finished The Awakening: Britton by Abby Niles. This was my first read from Niles and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The world was well written and I enjoyed both main characters. I also enjoyed the conflict and the suspense plot.
I’m undecided on what to read next. Any suggestions?
Rowena: I re-read The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot this week with my friend Tasha and I enjoyed it all over again. Meg Cabot is one of my favorite contemporary authors and I always enjoy her books. It’s nice to know that I can come back and re-read her books and still enjoy the heck out of them. They’re always fun to read and I feel like I should be reading more Cabot books. I also read Attachments by Rainbow Rowell which I absolutely loved. What a cute book that turned out to be.
At the moment, I’m reading The Destiny of Violet & Luke by Jessica Sorensen. I’m not very far into the book but even so, this book is pretty dark. So many of Jessica Sorensen’s characters have been through the wringer. I think it’ll be interesting if she ever writes characters that haven’t had it bad in their childhood and see if she can make their stories interesting.
