What Are You Reading? 8-31-12

Rowena: Last week before my little one goes back to school. I’m heading to Vegas for the weekend for a friend’s wedding so I won’t be around until Tuesday but I’m heading to Vegas with a lot of books in the works. I’m currently reading three different books. Mostly Good Girls by Leila Sales, Supernaturally by Kiersten White and A Lady by Midnight by Tessa Dare. All three books are really good right now so I’m hoping to still love them all when I finish.

Holly: I read Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire this week. It was..compelling but disturbing. I’m still sorting through my thoughts and feelings about it.

Aside from that I’ve been reading through my Linda Howard collection. I started with some of her more recent romantic suspense, Cover of Night, and moved into her older categories – Almost Forever, Bluebird Winter, Heartbreaker, Against the Rules, Strangers in the Night (anthology), Blackout (novella). I heart old school Howard. These are some of my most favorite of her books. I think I might read After the Night next.

What are you reading on this last day of August?

  1. I was just thinking about After the Night, because I’m reading Tricked Truths by Beth Kery, which is a little like the bastard love child of ATN and Bittersweet Rain by Sandra Brown. 😉 I’ve got some issues with it, but it is a page-turner.

Also listening to City of Lost Sould on audio.

  2. The best book I read this week was Easy by Tammara Webber. I’d seen some great reviews, but I really wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. I’m very glad we are at the end of the month because I’ve spent my August book budget and I’ve got lots to buy with the Sept. budget.

  3. JenM, I heard Easy was really good. I was leery about it, but I decided to download it after a conversation on Twitter yesterday. I’m looking forward it.

willaful, I agree about it being a page turner. I feel like I read the Brown forever ago, but I haven’t read the Kery. Do you recommend it?

I just finished rereading Summer at Seaside Cove by Jacquie D’Alessandro. Still as good as I first read it. Now I’m wondering when Laurel, Jamie’s half sister, story will be out. I can’t seem to find anything on it and I thought it was going to be a 2012 release!

I think I will start Lady Rogue by Suzanne Enoch next. I’m hoping it will be a good read!

  5. I actually meant the Kery book was a page-turner — though After the Night certainly is too! It’s one of those books I hated at first and then could not stop thinking about so it wound up on my keeper shelf. 🙂

I enjoyed the Kery book, though I don’t think it would be to everyone’s taste. It’s very smutty and not always in a good way. It’s certainly much better than the vast majority of Kindle freebies, though!

I read and adored Easy by Tammara Webber. Like you JenM, I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did but man, it was good.

Holly, let me know what you think. It’s a New Adult book so I’m curious to see what you think.

  7. I’m reading Easy right now. At first I was having too many “%0 Sahdes” flashbacks, but now I’m really into it. 😉

“New Adult” is a good genre name. This has been classified as YA and I really don’t see it.
