Holly: I have to say, I’m a little freaked out. I only read one book all week, and it was a novella. I guess I’m still living in Slumpville. Sad, right?
The novella I read? Where There Be Monsters by Meljean Brook. It will be released in the Burning Up anthology along with stories by Nalini Singh, Angela Knight and Virginia Kantra.
It’s no secret that I love Brook’s Guardian series and this novella goes to show she can do Steampunk just as well. It was lovely. I can’t wait for The Iron Duke, book 2, to come out in October.
Rowena: I’m not exactly in a slump but it’s taken me a while to get through one of the books that I was looking forward to reading. I finished it a couple of days ago and it got a whole lot better once I got past that beginning hump and I’m looking forward to starting the second book. Oh, that book is The Iron King by Julie Kagawa. Last night, I started Darker than Night by Kim Lenox because I really enjoyed the second book in that series that I read. It started off okay but I’m hopeful that it’ll get better.
Casee: I’m reading Still the One by Robin Wells. The heroine is driving me crazy because she feels bad about having feels for another man when her husband has been dead for 2 years. And she still has his shit on his nightstand and his clothes in the closet. (Holly: WTF?)
Reading Long Lean and Lethal by Lorie O’Clare. It has been in my tbr for a while. Finally re-read Tall Dark and Deadly so I could read this one.
Tall, Dark and Deadly by Lorie O’Clare and Delicious and Suspicious by Riley Adams.
I’m reading AN EARL TO ENCHANT written by AMELLA GREY. A wonderful historical series.
I’m reading Sweet Temptation by Maya Banks. I’ve been so looking forward to Micah’s book but it’s a disappointment. I’ll finish it (because a book has to be really really terrible before I give up on it – I’m a bit anal that way). But it’s not as romantic as the earlier books in the series IMO. There was a scene (series of scenes?) where Micah “shared” Angelina with 3 other guys, two of which were total strangers to her. Yuk. It was a bit much for me to be honest. It just seemed, um, brutal and not very sexy. The plot is thin and I’m not buying into the relationship between Micah and Angelina. I liked Micah better before this book. Now I think he’s a bit of a bastard.
Has anyone else read it?
I’m reading The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter! I’m sighing at the building romance, feeling sad for a few characters, laughing at a few characters…. Its brilliant, of course 🙂
Man, I haven’t read any of the books mentioned here, what am I missing out on ladies?
I’m reading a book called Enemy Lover by Karin Harlow. I was loving it and then all of a sudden, it turned into a paranormal. I had no idea.
