Holly: February is almost over. I’m doing a lot better with my reading so far this year. Course I’m pretty sure I started out strong last year, too. Then again, I was pregnant and sick as a dog for most of the year last year, and that won’t be happening this year (or ever again, thank goodness).
Having said that, this week was pretty slow for me on the reading front. I read Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks. When I asked for paranormal recommendations, Angela James suggested this series. I enjoyed the first book, but stalled out halfway through the second, Mortal Danger. It’s a pretty busy world. Though well written, I’m having a hard time following along with all the craziness. I plan to go back to it, I just needed a break between books.
I started Wicked Road to Hell by Juliana Stone. From the beginning I struggled with the heroine. Something about her rubs me the wrong way. I think it’s how she rushes into things without thinking first. She may be a 300 year old vampire, but she acts like an immature 21 year old half the time. I have about 50 pages to go. We’ll see if she can be redeemed or not. Heroine aside, I’m enjoying the book. Like the Wilks series, the world is a little busy, but I’m dealing with that. Kind of.
I also did a re-read of Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison this week. I love that book like whoa. I’m trying to talk Rowena into reading it. So far she’s been resistant. I think this calls for drastic measures….don’t you? evil laugh
What are you reading?
I won an ARC of “Oracle’s Moon” last week, finished it and loved it! “Dragon Bound” is still my favorite and Rowena would be forever into your debt if you got her to read it;-)
Read it, Rowena! You know you want to! 😀
I love Eileen Wilks’ series, but the second book was my least favorite (I’m up to book 6). If you can push through it, the next few are really good.
You definitely need to open up a can of whup-ass on Rowena!
After loving the first book, I stalled somewhere in the Wilks series, mean to get back to them one of these decades…
Am listening to The Next Always on audio. I can’t believe Roberts thought a hero seducing the heroine with endless talk of inn furnishing would be hot. Even the sexy narrator can’t save this. And his women/kids voices are awful. But I can’t seem to stick with a print book, so I’m kind of stuck with it.
