What Are You Reading? 1-19-13 (139)

Rowena: What a week it’s been for me.  I did some re-reads and enjoyed that, I read a YA that I thought was too cute and then I started the book that just made my week.  I just finished Love Irresistibly by Julie James and let me tell you, I loved it.  Cade made me swoon more than once and I can’t wait for this book to come out so that everyone can enjoy it.  This is flat out my favorite book by Julie James yet and I’ll be talking this book up for quite some time.  Right now, I’m reading It Had to Be You by Jill Shalvis and I just know that I’m going to adore it.  I can’t wait to dig right in.

Holly: This was supposed to go up yesterday, but I got sick and didn’t get a chance to post it. I hate being sick. I don’t get sick often (thank goodness) but when I do I turn into a big baby. Admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery, right? So..who wants to bring me chicken soup?

Anyway, because I’m not feeling well I haven’t really been reading. I read Archangel’s Storm this past week, which was good. I think I should have re-read the earlier books before starting it, though, because I wasn’t as invested in the world as I normally am. I may remedy that now. I also read Her Dark Knight by Sharon Cullen and Knight of Runes by Ruth A. Casie. Both were just ok reads. I didn’t dislike them, but I didn’t love them either.

Last night I planned to start Love Irresistibly but I’m just not able to concentrate enough. Instead I’m sort of reading All He Ever Dreamed by Shannon Stacey. Mostly I’m just skimming it. I’ll probably set it aside in favor of a re-read for now. When I’m feeling better I’ll come back to it.

What are you reading?

  1. Holly, I’m listening to Angel’s Blood right now. My, it’s steamy!

Reading The Sheik for a challenge. It’s certainly fascinating reading for anyone interested in the genre, but not exactly what I would call romantic. Has more in common with current day noncon books like Comfort Food than with modern romance! But I believe we will have a hero turnaround eventually.

  2. I just started a YA novel Decked with Holly. Didn’t really get started yet, so not sure how it is. I am definately looking forward to Jill’s book & Julie’s book sounds good, too. Hope you feel better, Holly! Lots of that going around.

  3. Holly! I hope you feel better soon!!

And Rowena can’t wait to read your thoughts on It had to be you.

    😀

I just read the Governess Affair and a Kiss for Midwinter by Courtney Milan, and when work allows it I’m reading In the Bag by Kate Kilse, and it’s very cute.

  4. Today I started reading The Wanderer by Robyn Carr and also The Wedding Shroud by Elisabeth Storrs (historical fiction set in Etruscan times)

  5. Rowena

Ooh, did you review either of those books yet Alex? I need to get those read soon, I’ve been wanting to read them for some time now.

You’ll definitely be reading my thoughts on both books soon, I promise.

@Pat L: Is that a new release or an older one by Macomber? I don’t think I’ve heard of that one before.

@Sharlene: Who’s that book by? I’m always looking for new YA books to read.
