Casee
I just started Protecting You by Claire Kingsley. She’s a new-to-me author. I’m not very far into it, but so far, so good. I also read another new-to-me author this week. Never Ever by Isabel Wroth wasn’t my favorite book, but I was still happy to read it. My goal in 2022 is to find more new-to-me authors. So far it’s going well.
I finished Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews on audio. This was the book that I officially became a Catalina fan. I can’t wait for Ruby Fever. After that, I decided to go back to an old favorite. I’m listening to Saving Grace by Julie Garwood.

I’m still not reading much. I read and listened to Bombshell by Sarah MacLean this week. I really enjoyed the narrator and the heroine and her friends, though the hero’s angst kind of got old after awhile. That’s it. Sigh. Maybe this week I’ll find more time to read.
@Casee: PROTECTING YOU and FIGHTING FOR US (I recommend reading the two back-to-back, as a duet) were two of my favorite reads in 2021. I hope you enjoy them.
Right now I’m reading Giana Darling’s BEAUTIFUL NIGHTMARE, book two of her Dark Dream duet (the first book is DANGEROUS TEMPTATION). It’s a guardian-ward dark romance and is part of the multi-author Midnight Dynasty world of rival families who love and hate each other in equal measure. A word of warning: the heroine is 17 (a few months shy of her 18th birthday) and she’s had full-on, penetrative sex with the 30-year-old hero. I think Darling makes it plausible (this is a dark romance, after all), but I know the underage element will be a deal-breaker for many readers.
I went on GR to see who the second book was about. So I do know it’s part of a duet and that there is a cliffhanger. Thanks for the advice about reading them back-to-back!
I’m going to have to give Diana Darling a try. I love dark romance.
And, chronologically, between PROTECTING YOU and FIGHTING FOR US, Kingsley’s entire Miles Family series takes place (the heroine of PY/FFU is related to the Miles). I thought Kingsley did a very good job of intertwining the Miles Family & Bailey Brothers books.
Over the past week ~
— continued my Michelle Diener reread with Dark Minds (Class 5 Series Book 3), Dark Matters (Class 5 Series Book 4), and Dark Ambitions: A Class 5 Novella. I enjoyed revisiting these science fiction romances. I recently learned that the author is working on a new book in the series which is happy news.
— also reread the science fiction Linesman, Alliance, and Confluence all by S.K. Dunstall. These are among my favorite books.
It looks like you are heavy into sci-fi. Thanks for sharing!
