I’ve been binging Abigail Owen these past few weeks. I read the Inferno Rising series & am currently reading The Enforcer, which is book three in her Fire’s Edge series. I also just received Garrett’s Destiny by Rebecca Zanetti & can’t wait to start it!
I’ve been listening to the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh in preparation for Archangel’s Resurrection. I’m currently listening to Archangel’s War, which is one badass book.

After a discussion with Casee, I re-read the Elder Races novellas featuring Dragos and Pia; Dragos Takes a Holiday, Pia Saves the Day, Peanut Goes to School, Dragos Goes to Washington, Pia Does Hollywood and Liam Takes Manhattan. I also read the free short stories, Dragos Meets Stinkpot and Grace’s Inheritance on the author’s website.
Then I read Hunt the Stars and Eclipse the Moon by Jessie Mihalik, the first two books in the Starlight’s Shadow series, which I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series (Capture the Sun, expected in 2023). I listened to Scoundrel of My Heart by Lorraine Heath, the first book in the Once Upon a Dukedom series, which is a spinoff of the Sin for All Seasons series. I really enjoyed Griff and Katherine.
I also read Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs, the latest Mercy Thompson novel. It was wonderful. I’m just sad it ended. I just finished listening to Maggie Moves on by Lucy Score, which was hilarious and adorable, though I’ll be honest and admit I didn’t love the narrator.
I haven’t decided what I’m going to read next.
Holly, since you are on a Thea Harrison kick, you might like to know about this currently free novella ~ True Colors: A Novella of the Elder Races by Thea Harrison.
Thank you! I believe I already own it, but I’ll double check just in case. I saw the author announced Bayne will be getting a book next, but no release date that I saw.
Over the past week ~
— I often like books with a time travel element and quite enjoyed This Time Tomorrow: A Novel by Emma Straub. Be aware that it focuses on the love an almost forty year old woman has for her father who is close to death.
— I’ve been rereading the science fiction romance Touchstone series and have finished Stray (which is FREE for Kindle readers), Lab Rat One, Caszandra, and Gratuitous Epilogue all by Andrea Höst. I enjoyed them all!
I have the Touchstone series in my TBR thanks to you. I’d forgotten, but going to pull it out now that you’ve reminded me.
I hope you’ll enjoy the series, Holly!
I just finished a book that has made my Favorite Reads of 2022: J. T. Geissinger’s PEN PAL, which is an excellent mashup of romance, psychological suspense, and supernatural/gothic horror. The recently-widowed heroine lives in a leaky, creaky Victorian house and is very cagey about how her husband died. She begins a affair with the hot guy she hires to repair her roof, but meanwhile she continues carrying on a correspondence with an inmate at the state correctional facility. More “romance-adjacent” than romance, very twisty-turny and highly recommended.
That definitely sounds intriguing, @DDD!
I read several of Geissinger’s a few years ago and then somehow the author fell off my radar. Thank you for reminding me.
It’s definitely not a “traditional romance”, but I was completely caught up in the story. I’d never read anything by Geissinger before, but now I’ve added her backlist to my never-ending tbr!
