Holly: Things have been hectic and crazy here, so I haven’t read a lot.
I read and enjoyed Before I Fall by Jessica Scott. I love how real her books are, but I have to take a break in between them.
Fire Bound by Christine Feehan, the next installment in the Sisters of the Heart series, was good. Water Bound remains my favorite of the series, but I liked this one. Some major threats were addressed and I like the progression of the overall story arc.
I did a reread of Hunting Ground and Fair Game by Patricia Briggs. I also reread Blood Bound and Fire Touched.
I don’t know what I’m going to read next. I’m still in a PNR/UF mood, so I may finish the Kate Daniels series.
Rowena: I love how Holly says she didn’t read a lot this week and then proceeds to tell us she read 6 books. Haha. That’s a lot of books to me.
I only read Fair Game by Patricia Briggs this week. Playoffs started so I’ve been busy with Basketball Mom stuff and I couldn’t seem to get away from Fair Game anyway. I kept going back and reading random parts of the book until I picked up the book that I’m reading right now. I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne is what I’m reading right now and so far, I’m really liking it. I haven’t read very many books that didn’t work for me this year and I’m glad because who likes to read suck books?
I’m not sure what I’m going to jump into after this one but I have plenty to choose one so I’m sure I’ll find something.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!
I spent most of the week slogging through The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt for my book club. The book won the Pulitzer prize for literature, but great literature is apparently wasted on me LOL. At page 500 (out of 780 pages), I finally gave up and skipped forward to the last chapter because I just couldn’t take it anymore. After that, I couldn’t even think about starting another book for a day or two. I finally picked up The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan and was so happy to be back to reading romance!
It was a great reading week for me! I had a stomach bug this week which is always awful, but at least I did get to read a few books on the day I was recovering (yay!). I read Zoe Archer’s early scifi romance books (Collision Course and Chain Reaction) and I don’t know why I waited so long because they were awesome. I also read Smart and Sexy, book 3 from an old Shalvis series, and it was not amazing but not a bad read either. And another day I even had time to squeeze in one steampunk novella, Far From Broken by JK Coi (it had potential but I’m not sure if I’ll go on to read the full length story that comes next or not).
I finished the Shadowhunter Academy bind up and really enjoyed it. Last night I stayed up late finishing Morning Star by Pierce Brown only to be woken up super early by the kids. I highly suggest Pierce Brown’s Red Rising trilogy… it’s so good.
Recent reads here ~
