Rowena: It’s been a good reading week for me. I read Bounce by Noelle August and I enjoyed that one more than I thought I would. The second book in the series was a disappointment for me so I didn’t have high hopes for Grey’s book but I ended up liking it. I ended up really liking Grey. Sky too.
I also read Make Me by Tessa Bailey. Only I can read the very last book in a series but hey, that’s how I roll. I enjoyed it and will definitely make the time to read the other books in the series. After Make Me, I read Sleeping with the Enemy by Tracy Solheim and while the hero in that book got on my nerves from time to time, I still enjoyed it.
I DNF’d Begging for It by Lilah Pace. I thought it would be interesting to read a book about a girl who was raped, have rape fantasies but it didn’t work out. It was emotional, it was raw and it was completely uncomfortable for me.
I immediately moved on to Sacked by Jen Frederick and holy crap did I go through the emotional wringer with that one. I loved it. I loved Knox. I loved Ellie and I’m itching for a story for Jack. I want it bad. Jen Frederick, if you’re reading this, Jack Campbell needs a book. 🙂
Next up for me is Tonight the Street is Ours by Leila Sales. I haven’t started it yet but I plan to do just that tonight.
Holly: I Spent the week rereading Linda Howard books (yes, still. Stop judging me). Now I’m reading The Stolen MacKenzie Bride by Jennifer Ashley. I’m really enjoying it.
What are you reading this week? Anything good? Bad? Share!
I just finished Meredith Duran’s Fool Me Twice and I loved it!
I don’t even remember the last book by Duran that I read. It’s been ages too.
I just finished Lady Be Good by Meredith Duran and The Bourbon Kings by JR Ward. Lady Be Good was excellent. The Bourbon Kings was readable, but it had problems. Most of the characters were flawed and the villains were 100% evil. There wasn’t much nuance in the characterizations.
I’m glad to hear you say that about The Bourbon Kings. I was tempted to read it as a friend loved it, but your comments reminded me why I don’t read Ward at all. I don’t think now is the time to start.
No judgement here as I’m happy to re-read books by Jennifer Ashley and Linda Howard!
I very much enjoyed Entreat Me by Grace Draven; it’s a fantasy romance.
Other books recently read include:
— the romantic suspense book Shattered Duty: A Deadly Ops Novel by Katie Reus
— re-read LaVyrle Spencer’s Morning Glory, a wonderful historical romance
— Alice Hoffman’s The Museum of Extraordinary Things for my book group
— M. L. Buchman’s latest Firehawks book Hot Point
— Brown-Eyed Girl by Lisa Klepas, contemporary romance
What did you think of Brown Eyed Girl? I still haven’t read any of that series. Rowena tells me all the time I should.
Gah! I can’t read a series out of order! I recently read my first Victoria Dahl (her Girl’s Night Out series) and read 2 of those this week. I also read the Assassin’s Blade novellas by Sarah J Maas and am looking forward to reading the full length novels. Yesterday I started the 2nd In Death book.
Holly, I love me some Linda Howard’s sometimes you just have to revisit the classics!
Have you read the In Death books before, or is this your first go-round?
I’m in a book slump, I have no clue what to read next.
