Rowena: This week, I finished A Summer Like No Other by Elodie and there were things that bugged me about the book. The secrets, the attitude and the page count. I wasn’t aware that this was a novella when I first requested it from Netgalley so it was a bummer that the short story built and then just ended with a “read the next books to find out what happens” ending so that was a disappointing read for me. After that one though, I read The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick and I enjoyed this book so much more.
Tim was a freaking mess up dreamboat. Alice was a fantastic heroine and their story was just fabulous. Angsty but with heart. Tim’s journey and Alice’s stresses made for an interesting story and as characters, I fell in love with both of them. I loved this book just as much as I loved the first book in the series so it was a total win of a read for me.
I’m starting When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare today and I’m super duper excited about it. I just know that I’m going to love it.
Holly: I can’t believe it’s already August 7th. How did that even happen? I did a binge-read of old Linda Howard favorites this week. Tears of the Renegade, Mackenzie’s Mission, Mackenzie’s Mountain, The Cutting Edge, Heartbreaker, Against the Rules, Kill and Tell and White Lies. I read Mackenzie’s Magic last night and now I’m reading Mackenzie’s Pleasure. I love LH’s older stuff. Some of it was kind of dated now, but most of them held up well.
I also read Falling Under by Lauren Dane, book two in the Ink and Chrome series. It was really good. I adore Dane’s heroines.
What are you reading this week? Anything good? Bad? Share!

Re-read an old historical romance favorite ~ Tempt Me at Twilight by Lisa Kleypas
Oh you had a good reading week, Kareni. A very good reading week. Re-reads and The Mistake? I love it!
I didn’t have as much reading time as I wanted this week but I did read a little. I actually read a few novellas, including A Lesson in Chemistry with Inspector Bruce by Jillian Stone which was great. I want to backtrack and read more of the Gentlemen of Scotland Yard series now. I also started Opening Up but I think I just wasn’t in the right mood for it and I put it aside.
I’ve got Opening Up on my TBR pile too. I’m going to read it soon. I hope your reading picks up sweets!
I am feeling cautiously optimistic. I have read a couple of new-to-me stories, Janice Kay Johnson’s Yesterday’s Gone and Lauren Dane’s Opening Up, (spoiler: I liked both).
I am now in the middle of re-reading Linda Howard’s Up Close and Dangerous.
With any luck, reviews are forth coming.
