Holly: I’ve been really lazy about updating my reading log the last few months, and it really bit me in the butt this week. My Nook died the other day (SOB!). It froze while I was right in the middle of a book. Since I haven’t been logging my reads as soon as I finish them, I’m not sure I’ll be able to remember everything I read.
I read Waking the Beast by Lacey Thorn, a free download. I’ve been wanting to read more shifters lately and I like the idea of trying a series before I buy it. The premise is really great, and it started out with a bang, but it lacked in execution. There were a ton of plot holes and silly inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story. Not to mention the sequel baiting. I wanted to start a drinking game every time a secondary character came on page. I also read another free download, The Alpha Meets His Match by Georgette St. Clair. This was another book that wasn’t as well executed as I’d hoped. The actions of the characters didn’t make sense half the time, and I expected something different from the story as a whole.
Soaring by Kristen Ashley, book 2 in the Magdalene series, released this week and I read it right away. I liked The Will, book 1, but this one was a bit better.
I’m fairly certain I read a couple other books, but I can’t remember now what they were. I think I’m going to read Suddenly One Summer by Julie James next.
Rowena: It’s been another good reading week for me. I read Coming in From the Cold and Shooting for the Stars by Sarina Bowen and…ha, that’s it. I really enjoyed both books but right now, my head space is with basketball and my ships on my shows (Team Steroline and Olicity!) but I am reading One of the Guys by Lisa Aldin. I’m really liking it right now too.
I should finish this one tonight and I have no idea what I’m going to read next. I’ll play by ear.
What are you reading?
I’ve read and reread Rock Hard by Nalini Singh. That book hit all of my happy spots and I’m ruined for any other book right now 🙂
Same here. I loved how patient and caring Gabriel was with Charlie and I loved seeing them grow closer and closer with each passing page. Singh did a great job with their story.
Sorry to hear about your Nook Holly – when is the funeral? 😀
I finished the 10th Sebastain St Cyr mystery book by C S Harris and then dived into Hold by Zannie Adams aka Claire Kent. Was enjoyable, although the epilogue waffled on a bit going over ground that had already been covered!
Next up is Nalini Singh – take a bow 😀
Ha! Holly, did you have a moment of silence for your nook? I would have. 🙂
Woo hoo for the Nalini Singh. I look forward to reading your thoughts on it. Happy reading sweets!
