Rowena: I don’t do too much reading of Romantic Suspense books. I used to, back in the day but now? Not so much. This week, I read two Romantic Suspense books and one, I like. The other one? Not so much.

I read Irresistible Force by D.D. Ayres, Badlands by Jill Sorenson and Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young.

Irresistible Force was not a book that worked for me. I couldn’t for the life of me connect with the heroine and the hero made me want to roll my eyes down the street. I had trouble grasping the fact that the heroine just got done sobbing her eyes out, sharing her sexual abuse stories (two of them, by the way) and not ten minutes later, the hero and the heroine are trying to hold their desire for each other in check. Umm, no. Just, no.

I enjoyed Jill Sorenson’s Badlands. It was another Romantic Suspense book that I’ve been meaning to dig into but haven’t ever gotten around to until now. I liked getting to know both Penny and Owen.  While this story wasn’t my favorite by Sorenson, I still enjoyed it. And this series is definitely one that I’m going to continue.

Last but not least, I read Cole’s story, Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young. I loved it. It was everything that I hoped Cole’s story would be and Cole is exactly the man that I hoped he would grow up to be. Be on the look out for my review, it should post soon.

Right now, I’m reading Shatter by Erin McCarthy and I’m excited to dig into it.

Holly: I’m still not reading much. It’s annoying. I read No Strings Attached by Susan Andersen. It’s the first book in the series I’ve read. I enjoyed it. Rowena and I will be reviewing it together soon.

I finally read Night’s Honor by Thea Harrison. I’ve had it for a few months but I just couldn’t get into it. I’m sorry I put it off. It was such a great story.

I also read Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series. I really liked all three books. Play, book 2, was my favorite. I also liked Lick and Lead. Good stuff.

What are you reading?

  1. When I’m not rereading my lesson plans, I’m reading The Runaway Highlander by R.L. Syme. I’ve JUST started it, so I can’t say anything about it. I love Highlanders, though, so that’s why I picked it up.

I’m reading Lead right now. Still love Mal best, but I love Jimmy and Lena together. I didn’t really see how Jimmy could be made sympathetic, but I should have trusted Kylie Scott to do so.

I’m starting a reread of the Hunter Kiss series by Marjorie M. Liu. I’ve had the final book in my TBR pile for months now and when I tried to read it… could not remember anything! Rediscovering why I really liked this series 😉 hope everyone has a great weekend!

They are really good. She has a great writing style, and Mal, the hero of the second book is so funny – he’s like an overgrown puppy with no filters bouncing around stirring stuff up. In the first book, when he meets the heroine he calls her “child bride” for no real reason except that she’s only 20 or so, while David, the hero is 26 or 27. In his book, he holds a serious discussion with a body part of Anne’s that is so funny – you’ve just got to read it to appreciate it.

  5. I finished the Bride Quartet by Nora – enjoyed it although at times all the wedding stuff got a bit boring. Am now re-reading her Three Sister’s trilogy – another nerd hero – Mackenzie Booke! Great!
