Holly: Last week Rowena and I were out and about and didn’t post our weekly update, so I’m going to include last week’s reading list here.
Last week was weird for me, reading-wise. I wanted to read, I just had a hard time deciding what I wanted to read. I re-read a couple books. I also read Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey, which I really adored (see my review here). Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young, the upcoming On Dublin Street release, was really good. I expected something different from Cole’s story, but I wasn’t disappointed. I also read Taking Control by Jen Frederick, the second book in the Kerr Chronicles.
This week has been just as slow. I think I need to find something angsty and dark to read. I don’t want to head into another slump. I re-read 4 books. The only new book I read was Archangel’s Shadows by Nalini Singh. I love that series. I don’t read her Psy-Changeling books, but I can’t get enough of the Guild Hunters.
Rowena: My daughter is in Colorado for the rest of her summer break and I’m kind of surprised at how much I miss her. I’m not surprised that I miss her because she’s my baby, of course I was going to miss her but I wasn’t prepared for how much. And it’s a lot. That kind of worries me for when she starts college. It’s really something that I don’t want to think about. But since she’s been gone, I’ve gotten a lot of reading done and I am FINALLY caught up and on track with my reading goal for this year (yay me!).
I read Make it Count by Megan Erickson which is the first book in the Bowler University series and it was a cute read. I’m doing a buddy review with Ames on Breezing Through so be on the look out for that. I also read One in a Million by Jill Shalvis which is the last book in the Lucky Harbor series and while I’m sad about one of my favorite series going away, Tanner and Callie’s story was just too freaking cute. I heart Tanner a lot. After One in a Million, I read No Strings Attached by Susan Andersen which was another cute read. It’s actually my favorite book in the Razor Bay series. I adored Lucas and Tasha. The last two books that I read this week are both YA books that I’ve been looking forward to.
I read What I Thought was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick because I really liked her last release, My Life Next Door. I couldn’t put this book down but when all was said and done, I didn’t love it the same way that I loved MLND. Gwen drove me crazy but I liked Cassidy. And then it brings me to last night. Last night, I started and finished the book that I’ve been waiting a long ass time for. Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. I think aside from the Shalvis and Julie James releases, Isla’s book is the book that I’ve been most looking forward to this year and Stephanie Perkins made it well worth the wait. I LOVED this book. I wish she wrote faster because Perkins writes my kind of books. I adored Josh (dare I say more than St. Clair, which is shocking given how much I love me some Etienne) and I really liked Isla, even when she was driving me crazy. I think I’m going to re-read the book this weekend, just because.
Now, I’m starting Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young. It’s Cole time. grin
What are you reading?
I finished Nora’s The Inn Boonsboro trilogy and loved it – my fave was the Perfect hope – same as Rowena. Then I started the Bride Quartet – loved Carter the nerd from book 1 – so funny 😀 Am on the 4th book – another great series – will be sad to finish!
Ooh, another great series. My favorite book in that series was Bed of Roses. I adored Jack.
You can have Jack – I’ll take Carter!!
Aww, Carter. He was great too.
