Holly: This was a short week but it felt like it drug out forever. My husband and I spent last weekend on a romantic getaway. We went to the beach, saw a ballgame and relaxed. It was heavenly. Unfortunately for my reading, I spent this week playing catch up.
I read parts 7 and 8 of The Kraken King by Meljean Brook. The end of part 7 nearly made my head explode, so it’s good I had part 8 already loaded and ready to go. I may have died otherwise. What? It could happen. Probably.
Today I started Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison. I was thinking of a certain scene, but when I opened the book to search for it I got sucked into the story. I plan to start Pia Saves the Day when I finish. I’m looking forward to it. I really enjoy Harrison’s novellas.
That’s all from me. What are you reading this week?
I believe the Kraken part because I am one of the poor sucker stucking waiting for June 3rd when 8 is release. As you know I’ve been howling my pain and despair all over the Internet. Sorry, tweeps:(
In my frustration, I follow up with Air Bound by Christine Feehan. Big mistake. I usually like her. Was prepared to love the story but ended up barely tolerating it.
Moral of story: no one compares to Meljean Brook. Bear the pain quietly and be fair to other authors- don’t use them to rebound.
Sufferring loudly and gracelessly wretched,

Did you dislike the Feehan because you’d just finished the Brook, as in you plan to go back and try again later, or you just didn’t like it? I felt warm and fuzzy about it once I finished, but now I don’t recall much of the storyline. I’ll have to reread it before deciding if I want to change my mind.
I have to go back and reread Air Bound at a much later date to have better perspective. I think because Brook and Feehan’s writing styles and hero are so different, it was jarring reading them back to back. However, I do feel that Air Bound got a bit repetitive and wordy about things the reader already gets (much like how Linda Howard got). I get it – he’s soo bad, soo dangerously lethal. And the ending left a lot unanswered. I get that this is part of a series but still. What happened to her dad, what is she working on with Damon.., etc?
On the good side, the heroine had some hilarious lines.
Bah! I’m in such a mood. Sorry. This month long experiment w Kraken King is like prolong PMS-ing except I never enjoy my period as much as I do Kraken series:)
All self afflicted. Don’t mind me. 3 more days.
