Holly: I managed to get a lot of reading in this week, which is a nice change from those weeks where I read nothing.
I did a lot of re-reading, which is totally Rowena’s fault for trying to one-up me in the book boyfriend game. Always by Jeanne Renick, The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning, Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard and Honor’s Splendour by Julie Garwood. All are old favorites.
I read two sports romances by new-to- me authors. Better than Perfect by Kristina Matthews and Playing it Close by Kat Latham. I liked PIC more than BTP, but both were good.
Count on Me by Lauren Dane, her upcoming Petal, Georgia book, was awesome. Dane does male/female relationships so well.
I also read Part 5 of The Kraken King. I’m loving the direction the story is moving. I only wish all the parts were available now. I hate waiting.
I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I want to keep re-reading, but I should probably look at my TBR shelf instead.
Rowena: This week was a good reading week for me. Â I read Believe by Erin McCarthy, the Fifty First Times anthology and did some re-reading. Â The Wedding by Julie Garwood. Lots of good stuff.
Dear Holly: Stop blaming me, you’re the one that put all of those new rules into the game and now my TBR shelf is being put aside so that I can re-read a bunch of my favorites. LOL. Â I just finished reading Paradise by Judith McNaught. Â It’s a good story with a great hero but the heroine got on my freaking nerves. Â More than once, I wanted to throttle Meredith. Â I don’t remember being as annoyed with her before so it was surprising. Â I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. Â Maybe, The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine or Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Â We’ll see.
What are you reading?

You guys read so much more than me! My job seriously gets in the way. I read The Nerd Who Loved Me by Vicki Lewis Thompson this week, which I really enjoyed, as I always do with her books. I’m now a third of the way through Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, for a change of pace you know. It’s a pretty fascinating account. I haven’t seen the recent movie, but I did see an earlier movie version from several years ago, after which I hunted down the book, so it was time to finally read it.
I remember loving The Nerd Who Loved Me when I first read it. I may have to re-read.
Just stayed up late reading Play by Kylie Scott last night and also reading the fourth Game of Thrones book, A Feast for Crows and listening to The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith! Hoping to read Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt this weekend but we will see!
I have been in such a historical funk. I really liked the Hoyt books I read, but I have this giant block when it comes to historicals right now. Every time I start one I end up setting it aside after a chapter or two (or sometimes a page or two). So frustrating.
