What Are You Reading? (180)

Rowena: I still haven’t been reading as much as I would like but I did manage to get one book read this week. I read Popping the Cherry by Aurelia B. Rowl. It started off cute but the main character got on my nerves throughout most of the book and though I liked the love interest, I thought they wasted too much time getting their crap together. I started Elite by Rachel van Dyken last night but have an overwhelming urge to read Saving Grace by Julie Garwood so I’ll be reading both this weekend.

Holly: I finally had some time to read this week. The last few weeks have been crazy and I’ve barely had time to breathe, much less read. Thankfully this week was relatively quiet. I needed the break and I enjoyed getting back into books.

I read Tempting His Mate by Savannah Stewart. I liked the story and look forward to reading the rest of the series.  A Christmas to Remember by Hope Ramsay & Molly Cannon & Marilyn Pappano & Kristen Ashley & Jill Shalvis. I really loved the Shalvis, thought the Ashley was good, liked the Pappano and thought the Cannon was just ok. Before You Break by Christina Lee. This book follows Lee’s debut, All of You. I enjoyed it. It had a darker tone than some of the other books I’ve read recently. It deals with some heavy issues. I recommend it. Perfect by Autumn Jordon. This was a little on the unbelievable side for me. A sweet story, sure, but the time frame is so short I had trouble believing in the ending.

I finally read Mockingjay  by Suzanne Collins. This is the only book of the three I’ve read. I saw the other two movies and was curious how the trilogy ended. I’m not sorry I read it, but I can’t say I really enjoyed it. It’s a rather sad, depressing novel. I thought it would end happily, but I suppose I should have known better considering the world. And The Expert’s Guide to Driving a Man Wild by Jessica Clare. There was a bit too much sex and not quite enough story, but I liked it.

Today I read Moonlight by Lisa Kessler. Some of the story was problematic for me and I had issues with the characters at various times through the book, but I enjoyed the world and look forward to reading the next book.

What are you reading this week? Anything good?

I’m also reading Bella Andre’s Kissing Under the Mistletoe, so far so good. I haven’t been disappointed with Bella Andre, no matter how predictable the books are. Love them or I wouldn’t be coming back. I read a few good books this week, Remy by Katy Evans (I thought it would’ve been better, though a good wrap up to the series), Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout (great novella preview of her new Dark Elements series), Finding It by Cora Carmack (I really liked Hunt but not such a fan of Kelsey; overall, liked the book but for me Hunt saved it) and Until You by Penelope Douglas (Jared’s POV of Bully). I’ve had a good reading week.
