What Are You Reading? (173)

Holly: This week I finished reading Unleasing Mr. Darcy, a modern day retelling of Pride and Prejudice. It was ok. There were parts I really liked, but the heroine, Elizabeth, drove me batty most of the time.

I also did a reread of Own the Wind by Kristen Ashley and I’m in the middle of rereading Sweet Dreams, also by Ashley. My baby sister is getting married in a week. As the maid of honor, I’m completely bogged down in wedding details. I’d like to read more, but with all the last minute stuff to see to and family coming into town, I doubt I’ll have time. Quick rereads at least allow me a bit of an escape.

Rowena: It’s been a slow reading week for me. I think I only read one book this week and that book was Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. I was really into the book for most of it but in the end, I ended up just liking it and not loving it.

Now I’m reading The Bride Wore Size 12 by Meg Cabot. I’m about half way into the book and it’s good but I’m not head over heels in love with it. I’m not sure what my issues are with this book, it’s just okay for me. I’m thinking it’s just me and not the book.

What are you reading this week?

I’m reading The Hummingbird House by Donna Ball. It’s an off shoot from her Ladybug Farm series….one that I really enjoyed. I’m liking The Hummingbird House and can’t wait to see how all the loose threads tie together.

    • I read the first book in the Ladybug Farm books and enjoyed it but I didn’t read the other book. They’re on the my TBR list.

  2. I finished two books this week, Significant Others by Armistead Maupin last night, the 5th book in the Tales of the City series, and I loved it. I’ve really enjoyed the whole series. And I also read Ghost Night, by Heather Graham, which I was really looking forward to as I loved Ghost Shadow, but it was a bit of a disappointment and not nearly as good.

Now I’m reading a Harlequin Presents, Cavelli’s Lost Heir, by Lyn Raye Harris. Just one chapter in, so no opinion yet.

I adore Meg Cabot. But I haven’t gotten to The Bride Wore Size 12 yet, as I still need to read the book before it.
