What Are You Reading? First Week in 2013. (137)

Rowena: It’s the beginning of a new year and I’ve already read 3 books.  I think I’m off to a good start considering, it’s only the fourth day of the new year.  I just finished reading Nobody but Us by Kristin Halbrook and that book was good.  It broke my heart, made my heart race and hurt for those two kids in that book.  Great story telling if you’re in the mood for a Bonnie and Clyde type contemporary YA.  With that book out of the way, I’m moving onto Shadow Woman by Linda Howard.  I’m kind of afraid to read this one since I’ve been reading around online that readers have been disappointed.  I’m still going to read it and see if I agree with them or not.

Holly: I still haven’t read a book in 2013 yet. I’m in a mini-slump and nothing is grabbing me. I’ve started several books, but haven’t gotten past the first few pages.

Right now I’m attempting to read Beach House No.9 by Christie Ridgway. I generally love her books, but I’m thinking I’ll set this one aside until later. I’m getting frustrated by little things in the story. I’m pretty sure it’s me and not the book, though.

I might try Shadow Woman. I’m a bit leery of it since I haven’t seen great reviews. I guess we’ll see.

What are you reading this week? What was your first read of 2013?

  1. I’m reading Carla Kelly’s Christmas Collection slowly, because the stories are kind of the same. Started Shades of Gray by Maya Banks and words can’t express how much I hate it. 🙁 One kick-ass woman on the team and she gets treated like crap instead of being given a good story. Not sure I’ll finish.

I’m reading Barefoot in the Sand by Roxanne St. Clair. It’s a good book, the first of a series.

I’m reading Shadow Woman right now. It’s not as bad as the reviews and much better then Prey, but still not in the top tier of LH books.

@Kim: I agree, it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting but it’s nowhere near my favorite of LH’s books.
