What Are You Reading? 1-13-12

Holly: I can’t believe it’s already Friday. What happened to the week??

I’m trying to find more time to read, but so far I haven’t had much luck. I should have a lot of time to read since I spend a lot of time sitting around feeding the baby. Instead, I find myself playing Word Wrench or just watching her. I’m a sap, I know.

I did read a couple books this week. The first was Time Out, Jill Shalvis’ upcoming Blaze. It was really good. Shalvis brought her trademark humor and tenderness. The second was The Duke’s Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley. Hart’s book, y’all! I loved it. I was a little nervous going into it, but Ashley brought her A-game and finished the brothers off with a bang. I did read that she’ll be continuing the series with Daniel Mackenzie and one of Ansley’s brothers. I’m so glad.

Last night I started Chain Reaction by Zoe Archer, the second book in her 8th Wing series. I’m only a few pages in, so it’s too early to tell for sure, but I expect I’ll like it.

Rowena: I’ve been reading a bunch this week too. Not nearly as much as Holly but we can’t all be speed readers. =) I read First Date by Krista McGee, The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith, Fracture by Megan Miranda and now I’m reading Breakaway by Deirdre Martin and Hallowed by Cynthia Hand. So far, I’m enjoying Hallowed but Breakaway is just okay. I’m hopeful that Breakaway will pick up and I’ll end up liking it a lot more than I am now.

Wish me luck with that.

  1. I stalled on two books, Meljean Brook’s Heart of Steel (I know, heresy!) and Shiloh Walker’s The Departed (again, what the h*ll?), but I know it’s not the books–the situation at work is seriously effed up right now, and the stress doesn’t let me enjoy either story.

Instead, I’m knitting and crafting up a storm.

  2. Kim

I just started Julie Anne Long’s latest book, How The Marquess Was Won. I really liked the last book, so I hope this one is as good.

  3. Last night I started A Novel Seduction by Gwyn Cready. I LOVE her books, and so far I’m enjoying this one, though I’m not very far in for much to have happened yet.

Before that, I read my first Debbie Macomber! I know, where I have been? The Forgetful Bride, which I enjoyed very much. I laughed out loud a few times.
