What Are You Reading? 12-9-11. (85)

Rowena: It’s a new week with new reads going down at my house and this week I’m reading The Duke is Mine by Eloisa James. I haven’t read any of the books in this series but that’s not stopping me from enjoying the heck out of the banter between the hero and the heroine in this book. It’s the first time in a long time that my favorite part of a book is the heroine. Oh my goodness, Olivia is fabulous. She’s so witty that I want to be her, I don’t want her to be my best friend- I want to freaking be her, she’s that awesome and her use of puns? LOVE IT! So anyway, that’s what I’m reading. After I finish this book, I’ll be moving on to She Tempts the Duke by Lorraine Heath.

Holly: Last night I re-read an old favorite, His Bonnie Bride (aka Amber Flame) by Hannah Howell. Recently Fatin (@mad4rombks) had a discussion about HH on Twitter and I was reminded how much I love her earlier stuff. HBB is a  major comfort read for me.

I also started reading Alison Kent’s novella in the Holiday Kisses anthology. I’m only about a page in, so I can’t comment on it yet. I am looking forward to finishing it and the other stories, however. The anthology features 4 authors I really love.

I’m in the middle of Sorceress of Faith by Robin D. Owens. I’m having a hard time with it. I was on the fence about the series after reading the first book, Guardian of Honor, and I’m thinking it may not be for me. I might give it a few more pages to see how it goes. I’m undecided as yet.

Casee: I am about halfway through Lawe’s Justice by Lora Leigh. When I went to get it for my Kindle, it had two Amazon reviews of one star. I still had to get it because I was relatively sure what the reader gripe was about. Sure enough, when I read Tracy’s review of it, there it was. Although Tracy doesn’t gripe. She just accepts Lora Leigh’s Breeds for who they are, gets annoyed and moves on. Just like I do. LOL.

I’m not sure what I’ll move onto reading next. I was re-reading the Drake Sister Series by Christine Feehan. I wanted to read Hidden Currents again (Elle’s book) after I read something about it and reading it made me want to read the others again. I couldn’t find the book and bought it on my Kindle. I’m telling you, the clicking these days makes it too easy to buy. Anyway, I think I’m going to go on a search for the Drake books. They’re probably in a box labeled Christine Feehan (thanks to my sister’s horrifying mad organization skills).

Just finished Michelle Rowen’s 2 books Nightshade and Bloodlust. Really enjoyed them.

Other Willa (I will be polite and not call you Willa #2), if we are reading twins as well, you will love The Lady’s Secret. — willaful

I just finished The Black Hawk by Joanna Bourne. This series has a great setting and interesting plots.

I’m now reading The Next Always by Nora Roberts.

  4. As far as I can tell the books in the Eloisa James are only connected by the idea of the fairy tales and not the characters so reading out of order doesn’t matter.

I read the Holiday Kisses anthology on the weekend and liked it. I hadn’t read Alison Kent or Helen Kay Dimon before. I do struggle with one particular aspect of one of the novellas!

Just finished Animal Magnetism by Jill Shalvis this morning which was a fun read!
