Rowena: It’s the beginning of October and I’m off to a great start. I just finished reading a great YA contemporary book that I enjoyed a great deal. It was Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez and it’s a great teen read so I recommend it for your teenage daughters or nieces. Right after I finished that book, I picked up Real Men Will by Victoria Dahl and that’s what I’m reading right now. I’m not that far into it so I don’t really have an opinion on it yet but I’m hopeful. So yeah, that’s what I’m reading.
Holly: This week I read On Lavender Lane: A Shelter Bay Novel by JoAnn Ross, the third book in her Shelter Bay series. I really enjoyed it. I didn’t love the second book as much as the first, but this one was on par with the first. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I also read How a Cowboy Stole Her Heart (Harlequin Romance) by Donna Alward. It was ok. I liked the basic premise, but I wasn’t totally on board with the actions of both characters. Alward is a favorite for a good story, though, so I’ll be reading more of hers.
Right now I’m reading Tempted by His Target (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) by Jill Sorenson. I’m about 3/4 of the way through and really enjoying it, though I’m nervous about the big confrontation that’s coming. Wish me luck.

I just finished Serendipity by Carly Phillips. It was a good book and I look forward to the rest of the series. Serendipity is the first book I’ve ever read of hers. I’m now reading Courtney Milan’s Unclaimed.
At the beginning of the Week I read Michele Sagara’s Cast in Ruin – just wonderful. But not the book to start with if you haven’t read others in the series.
Just finished A Serpent’s Kiss by Thea Harrison. Le sigh. Since I made the mistake of reading the teaser for her next book, I want to read that one now, too!
Isn’t that JoAnn Ross series the one where the hero lay around talking to ghosts? It turned romantic suspense into small town schmaltz. I had to DNF that one.
So I know Rowena recommended Julie Graves but I have’t start her yet. Instead I read Jill Shalvis’ Sweetest Thing and Simply Irresistible after a long break from her. I liked them both, they are both fun read but *sigh I just can’t get into it completely. As hot as the heros are, I can’t help but feel I’m too old for her characters. I feel like her whole tone is too young for me. Like Vampire Saga vs True Blood, I can admire Robert Pattison but lust? No, that’s for Alex Skarrrrrrrsgard… ok, going off track there.
So yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to. Can’t help but feel there’s something wrong with me and I should check my pulse every now and then.

I just finished Instant Gratification by Jill Shalvis. It is book 2 of a 3 book series. A very first read.
I’m reading Ral’s Woman by Laurann Dohner. Just started, so I have no opinion yet.
Just finished Whisper Kiss by Deborah Cooke. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Finishing up The Gargoyle on audio — intense! Also reading Bad Boys Do, which is charming. — willaful
