Enter a world of timeless seduction, of ancient intrigue and modern-day passion. Enter the dazzling world of Karen Marie Moning, whose acclaimed Highlander novels have captivated readers, spanning the continents and the centuries, bringing ancient Scotland vividly to life. In a new novel brimming with time-travel adventure and sensual heat, the nationally bestselling author of The Dark Highlander delivers a love story that will hold you in thrall—and a hero you will most certainly never forget.
BEWARE: lethally seductive alpha male of immense strength and dark eroticism, do not look at him. Do not touch him. Do not be tempted. Do not be seduced.
With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T. Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is the consummate seducer, free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. With his very life at stake, Adam’s only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.
Enter law student Gabrielle O’Callaghan, who is cursed with the ability to see both worlds: Mortal and Faery. From the moment she lays eyes on this stunning male, Gabby is certain of one thing: He could be her undoing. Thus begins a long, dangerous seduction. Because despite his powerful strength and unquenchable hungers, Adam refuses to take a woman by force. Instead, he will tease his way into Gabby’s bed and make her want him just as he wants her.
Now, no matter how hard Gabby tries to avoid him, Adam is everywhere, invisible to all but her—perched atop her office cubicle in too-tight jeans, whispering softly from behind the stacks of the law library, stealing her breath away with his knowing smile…all the while tempting her with the promise of unimaginable pleasure in his arms. But soon danger will intrude on this sensual dance. For as Adam’s quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic and the deadly politics of the Faery queen’s court, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both mortal and Faery realms…and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love.
From the Hardcover edition.

“Are you falling for me, Irish?”

– Adam Black

Karen Marie Moning‘s books are riddled with amazing quotes. One liners and short zingers and emotional bombs that go on for paragraphs. If I had the time, I could spend hours and hours finding all of my favorites and listing them.

Since I don’t have hours and hours, I’m going to do the next best thing…ask all of you to share your favorite quotes instead. This way I’ll have them all in one place, but won’t actually have to spend the time finding them all. Brilliant, no?

Thanks to the lovely and generous Karen Marie Moning, I also happen to have a signed copy of The Immortal Highlander just waiting for a home. So how about a reward for all your hard work?

Leave your favorite quote in the comments of this post – or email it to contests @ thebookinge . com (no spaces), with KMM Quote in the subject line – and you’ll be entered to win an autographed hardcover copy of The Immortal Highlander.

ETA: If you’ve never read Karen Marie Moning before and therefore don’t have a favorite quote, leave a comment telling us what book you’re most looking forward to reading and why instead for a chance to win.

You have until Saturday, February 6th at 11:59 p.m. to enter. Come on, show me what you’ve got…

The entire time I’m burning in Hell, I’ll regret each tear I made you weep. But if Hell were the price for twenty days with you, I’d condemn myself again and again.

  1. Chelsea B.

I love the last line in Kiss of the Highlander: “Och, lass, donna you know? Your Heart is my home.” Le Sigh.

  2. i have SO many favorite Karen Marie Moning quotes….i think my favorite is from the Fever series though and its from Barons to Mac: “One day you may kiss a man you can’t breathe without, and find that breath is of little consequence.” or there is the one from darkfever that goes “I love books, by the way, way more than movies. Moves tell you what to think. A good book lets you choose a few thoughts for yourself. Movies show you the pink house. A good book tells you there’s a pink house and lets you paint some of the finishing touches, maybe choose the roof style, park your own car out front.”

that one about books is SO me. lol.

  3. I promise this isn’t me trying to get another entry, there are just so many good ones by her and i found a few more i want to share:

“She understood now why her friend Elizabeth, with her near-genius, analytical mind gave wide berth to murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, and horror stories, and read only romance novels. Because, by God, when a woman picked up one of those steamy books, she had a firm guarantee that there would be a Happily-Ever-After. That though the world outside those covers could bring such sorrow and disappointment and loneliness, between those covers, the world was a splendid place to be.”

“Last night you said you wanted to know what to expect so you could better select your attire. I told you we were going to visit a vampire in a Goth-den tonight. Why then, Ms. Lane, do you look like a perky rainbow?”

“Although love could grow in times of peace, it tempered in battle. Daddy told me once-when I’d said something about how perfect his relationship with Mom was-that I should have seen the first five years of their marriage, that they’d fought like hellions, crashed into each other like two giant stones. That eventually they’d eroded each other into the perfect fit, become a single wall, nestled into each other’s curves and hollows, her strengths chinking his weaknesses, her weaknesses reinforced by his strengths.”

“Words can be twisted into any shape. Promises can be made to lull the heart and seduce the soul. In the final analysis, words mean nothing. They are labels we give things in an effort to wrap our puny little brains around their underlying natures, when ninety-nine percent of the time the totality of the reality is an entirely different beast. The wisest man is the silent one. Examine his actions. Judge him by them.”

“There are only shades of gray. Black and white are nothing more than lofty ideals in our minds, the standards by which we try to judge things, and map out our place in the world in relevance to them. Good and evil, in their purest form, are as intangible and forever beyond our ability to hold in our hand as any Fae illusion. We can only aim at them, aspire to them, and hope not to get so lost in the shadows that we can no longer aim for the light.”

“I’ve come to hold the human spirit in the highest regard. Like the body, it struggles to repair itself. As cells fight off infection and conquer illness, the spirit, too, has remarkable resilience. It knows when its harmed, and it knows when the harm is too much to bare. If it deems the injury too great, the spirit cocoons the wound, in the same fashion that the body forms a cyst around infection, until the time comes that it can deal with it. For some people, that time never comes. Some stay fractured, forever broken. You see them on the street, pushing carts. You see them in the faces of the regulars at the bar.”

there aren’t many highlander quotes in my collection, though, because i didn’t start collecting quotes til after i read all of the highlander books.

  4. Drustan MacKeltar

“If aught must be lost,’twill be my
honor for yours. If one must be forsaken,’twill be my soul for yours. Should death come anon,’twill be my
life for yours.” He drew a deep breath and finished it, completing the spell that would haunt him for life. “I
    am Given.”

  5. “Now it’s not just my lip you’ll be needing to kiss if you’re wanting to make amends with me, Irish.”

    “You’re leaving me, Rainbow Girl.”

“The entire time I’m burning in Hell, I’ll regret each tear I made you weep. But if Hell were the price for twenty days with you, I’d condemn myself again and again.

“‘Assume’ makes an ‘ass’ out of ‘u’ and ‘me’.”

“Possession is nine-tenths of the law, Gabrielle. Seeing as how your bottom is currently in my hands, not yours, I believe that makes it mine.”

Gabby: “There’s a tadpole in my pants!”
    Adam: “Lucky tadpole.”

“Even I don’t know what your’e doing, and I know everything”

    “Petunia, Ms Lane?”
“Ass Barrons… as in you are one”

“I’m strong Ms. Lane, would you like to feel my muscles?”

Ok, I’ll stop because I could go on. I love every quote from all her books.

  6. From Immortal Highlander – my fav book so far:

The rest of him might be mortal, but his immortal erection certainly didn’t seem to have gotten the memo.
    -Gabrielle on Adam Black

  7. There is so much that I love about KMM books but my favorite one happens to be Th Immortal Highlander, because Adam Black is a simply irresistible character.

I have so many favorite quotes. Two that I choose come from The Immortal Highlander.

Adam Black-“You’re not falling for me, are you, Irish?”

and the bit at the end-

Breathlessly, Gabby said, “See what, Tessa? What can faeries see that you can’t see?”
Tessa yawned. Snuggled deeper into the covers. “That Daddy’s all glowy and golden.”
Adam’s mouth worked, but nothing came out.
“Adam glows golden?” Gabby said faintly.
Tessa nodded. “Mmm-hmm. Ah-veel says now he’s just like you and me, Mommy.”

    or from Dark Fever

“She understood now why her friend Elizabeth, with her near-genius, analytical mind gave wide berth to murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, and horror stories, and read only romance novels. Because, by God, when a woman picked up one of those steamy books, she had a firm guarantee that there would be a Happily-Ever-After. That though the world outside those covers could bring such sorrow and disappointment and loneliness, between those covers, the world was a splendid place to be.”

  8. Lorraine

Great quotes. I just bought four of these yesterday. I can’t wait to find the first book so I can begin to read the series.

  9. Although I’m sure I could find something from Spell, becaus Cian? ::shiver::

    Lisa F. already took mine:

    JB in Dreamfever,

    “You’re leaving me, Rainbow Girl.”

  10. These are some really great quotes!

To those of you who haven’t read KMM before: Let us know what book you’re most looking forward to reading and why, and you’ll be entered in the contest too.

  11. I adore KMM’s books! I found one and quick had to harass my bookstore for the rest. I’m eagerly awaiting the last of the Fever book due out in December.

KMM has 2 series that can satisfy a lot of people, that deliciously sexy Highland series and the gritty urban Fever series.

The best quote that comes to my mind right now is definitely from the Fever series, from Barrons (oh, yum!) to Mac:
“One day you may kiss a man you can’t breathe without, and find that breath is of little consequence.”
I’m definitely looking for that kiss.

    Thanks for the contest!

  13. I have not read yet, but I have seen people lusting after those Highlanders 😉 So would love to read those, and the others.

I am mostly looking forward to the 3rd Hunger Games book, cos it left us with such a cliffhanger and those YA books are great

  14. I have not read any of KMM’s books yet. After reading the Author Spotlight posts here, her books sound fabulous! The Immortal Highlander sounds great.

  15. Cadi

So I giggle at this quote from my favorite book – yes it is The Immortal Highlander:

Adam Black when he wrote in the “greatly revised” Black Edition of THE O’CALLAGHAN BOOK OF THE SIN SIRICHE DU “You asked if I believe in God.
I told you of course I do – I’ve always had a strong sense of self.” Then this Adam, an immortal, admits “But maybe, ka-lyrra, your God doesn’t believe in me.” Wow, something to this immortal man runs deep.

The ending lines to this book says it all, because it isn’t necessarily a quote, but rather a confirmation of all Adam had ever wanted to be, was and invariably is: “He had a soul. He knew love. He was pledged to his soul mate forever. And Adam Black was finally truly immortal.” Now that is beautiful.

  16. I’m sort of infatuated with Cian MacKeltar (Spell of the Highlander), to tell you the truth.

“Of all the wenches the Fates might have appointed to serve as his reluctant savior, the humorless bitches had sent him the only woman he’d ever encountered that he couldn’t control.”

    “‘Aye, Jessica, I like you.
And I’m not just stuck with you. You fit me here, woman.’ He thumped his chest with his fist.”

“People should fit each other: some days like sexy, strappy high-heeled shoes, other days like comfortable loafers—but always a good fit.”

  17. Spell of the Highlander

I love this quote and it shows such emotion:

Cian: “Aye, Jessica, I like you. And I’m not just stuck with you. You fit me here woman.” He thumped his chest with his fist.
    page 252

    And

“You truly donna ken it, do you? Excepting with you, Jessica. You, lass, are the exception to everything,” he said softly.
    page 251

  18. I’ve never read any book of this series, but I would like to read more about druids. Especially since I love the Fever series and there seems to be a connection betweeen them!
