Judith’s review of Nice Girl Naughty by Jan Springer

Blind since nineteen, Summer has blossomed into a famous wood carver, her talented hands giving life to erotic art. When her own life is nearly taken by a serial killer, she finds herself suddenly whisked to a secluded wilderness cabin by sexy body guard Nick.

Summer can’t get enough of touching Nick’s thick, powerful muscles and all those other hard, yummy male body parts. It doesn’t take long before the cabin’s every surface—horizontal or vertical – is marked by their scorching lovemaking.

For years Nick has stayed away from nice girl Summer. Now he’s back and sweeping his gorgeous redhead into the naughty, erotic sex-fest they’ve been craving for years. With passion blinding him, Nick doesn’t realize their hideout isn’t safe until it’s too late.

The prologue of this story outlines the pre-history between these two main characters, a history that occurred before Summer was blinded in the auto accident that took her parents’ life. The last time she saw Nick was on her 19th birthday when he came all the way from his posting in Iraq to “see” her on this special occasion, but then realized that she was too young, too innocent to deal with the realities of his wandering life. He broke Summer’s heart when he walked away. Now he has been given the official assignment of guarding his boss’s sister Summer, the very same girl who he has loved so long and who now must rely on his wits and experience to keep her safe from a serial killer.

Jan Springer has crafted a suspense and mystery tale that is filled with eroticism and romance. The reader is sort of the “third eye” in the mix, knowing that something sinister is drawing closer to these two lovers. There are twists and turns as the story develops and the tension surrounding Summer’s safety issues increases very much along the same lines as the sexual tension between Summer and Nick. It is a well-written story and while it is not really complicated, the author seems to be able to keep all the characters straight and to interweave the action of the baddies with the concerns of those who are attempting to find this killer.

I liked this story and felt it was somewhat beyond just an erotic tale. There was a bittersweet quality to Nick and Summer’s reunion, and I have to say that while reading of their encounters I was somewhat fearful that there would not be a happy ending for these two. Fans of suspense, erotica, and romantic fiction will find much to be pleased about in this novella.

I give this story a rating of 4 out of 5.
